So I have a bad local & remote SNR margin (below 10dB most of the time).

i am just wondering if the use of my extension cable (15 metres from the phone jack) can have any effect to the SNR margin (based on the image No.1).

If I do No.2 (which require me to extend the main phone line so it will be closer to my PC), will it improve the SNR margin?

Once so called promotion by TMnet to 1.5mbps/512kbps connection, my download SNR has dropped like crazy.
From the beginning near 30dba to around 6dba now, frequent disconnection.

Able to get higher SNR on glite as the download speed is slower and more stable connection.

Which is why I never want to "upgrade" my connection speed. heck I'm thinking about ending my Streamyx connection altogether. I still have access to my office Streamyx (which is more stable). Waste of money.

Are most DSL blinking problem solved by TM technician changing the copper cable?

That's right folks. While my download suffers, amazingly my upload is in good health! 488+ Kbps on a 512Kbps Streamyx package too!

So I had problem with my connection (DSL blink, low bitrate). I was using 512Kbps package but my connection always stuck at 384Kbps or less.

I constantly made complaints to TM customer care about my connection problems. Called them THREE times about my problem and how I was very unhappy with Streamyx service.

I made sure that I had evidence that my home connection in bad condition (capture image). I showed them the speed, the bitrate, and the SNR ratio (realtime).

So then one of the technician decided to use his laptop & modem to test out my line to make sure the problem was not from modem/PC/account. Sure enough he got odd readings & he cannot even get up to 1Mbit.

First we suspect it could be the copper line problem. So we had contractor to change to new copper cable. Same problem occur & no different from previous problem. Change the "DP", still didn't work.

Next they change the "port" and I constantly gave the technician feedback on my connection speed. It didn't work. Changing to different ports didn't do anything!

Finally the technician decided to re-route my connection from the main exchange centre to a smaller exchange unit close by my house. It turns out that the Streamyx connection from my house to the TM main exchange building was exceeding the maximum DSL distance (6-8 KM).

So now I'm getting good speed (supports up to 1Mbit but I'm still using 512Kbps package) and I rarely (if ever) see DSL blinking. But it really took A LOT of effort & cooperation to get the job done properly.

Your SNR is too low to a point that you are likely get DSL blink (disconnect). I got low SNR numbers like yours and it was HELL.

you mailed them the proof? A technician came to my house and say he is gonna do something to my wiring, something about parallel thing, not sure he discussed with my dad not me =/ can that help? I was wondering the re-routing that you said, can i ask this particular technician from telekom to do that for me or it has to be from streamyx one
*
No I didn't mailed it to them. I just have have the image as standby just in case the technician wants to see it. But best thing is to let them test your line with their own equipment (laptop, modem). It also helps if you learn a bit about DSL as these technician sometime don't know much about DSL itself.

That re-routing you have to ask technician about the distance from your house to the exchange that your Streamyx is connected to.

If there is a closer DSL exchange you should try to persuade the technician to switch your "port" and to see the result. Very important you give them feedback on your connection status (such as SNR & max bandwidth).

heys my connection isnt dc-ing now although no work has been done so far. My dls parameter and stats remain almost the same though. Is it best to get it sorted or wait till its blinking again?
Don't let that fool you. If your SNR below 10dB surely can get DSL blinking again. The question is just WHEN. unsure.gif

The technician that re-route for you, is from streamyx ?
Yes he must be since he is dealing with streamyx related issues. Any TM technicians handling data services should be the ones you are looking for.

If I see my DATA RATE to be at 2045/508 instead of 2048/512, will it cause any problem to my connection?

I use 512kbps package.
