Hi guys, just a quick question.. Would you apply to those jobs which recruit only Sporean/PR? I know maybe you will say no harm trying but I really wanna know what's your view/experience on this. Is this acceptable or do you think this will irritate the employer?

Do you think I might stand a chance as I'm a Malaysian staying in SG for more than 3 years and from JB. I'm sure I know SG and its culture very well (been watching Ch 5/8 since I was born). I don't see myself any different from any local Sporeans in terms of culture/language.

This nationality preferred thingy is because of the policy or is it just the employer's preference? I was told there is no quota for Employment Pass though, only quota for WP/S Pass. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Just a question, i need bring along the IPA letter when in the SG immigration, the white card i need fill in 30 days is it? and for working?

Now pack all my things, I know that in SG rent a room need EP, however i only have IPA, did anyone use IPA letter rent a room during waiting EP process?

i think during early April i need go back Malaysia to submit the income tax, my employer not ready the EA yet.

1. yes bring along the IPA. immigration will give you a white card for 30 days as usual. then when you're here you make appointment with ICA to finish the EP formalities and you will surrender the white card and IPA and they will give you the EP card.

2. I rented my HDB with my IPA, after 1 week+ then only give EP card for the owner to update HDB.

3. Do e-filing mah no need to go back malaysia.

I personally would get headphones since i love to crank up my music and staying in an enclosed space like singapore, it would be an annoyance to your neighbors, not to mention of housemates.

What type of headphone are you looking into, earpad headphones, in-ear headphones, over the ear headphones etc.

Since your an audiophile, i would recommend the Sennheiser's HD 800.

There's a store in ION orchard which is dedicated solely to headphones, you could enquire and ask the store staff on recommendation of headphones which suite your preference.

Thanks bro for suggestion... smile.gif
I'm not sure if I'll be getting earpad headphones, or over the ear headphones but definitely not in-ear earphones tongue.gif (my klipsch s4 now laying unused in drawer as I prefer earbud and using Crossroads HR1 now).
I'll do some research online first for few headphone models then only go to few ear/headphpone stores like Jaben, the one in ION you recommended, there's another in Plaza Singapura and 1 more in The Cathay as far as i know... thinking to get a 5.1 or 7.1 headphone to watch bluray movies but afraid audio quality may not that good...

But honestly if possible i still prefer speaker over headphone coz dont like the feel of being "closed" in a space... haha but considering the fact i may annoy others... no choice then...

@shinichi go to jaben at adelphi (coleman street near city hall mrt). it's a small shop, the uncle is super friendly, you can sit and try like all types of headphones til you find a pair that you like, they don't pressure you to buy at all one.

The new EP for my new co has been approved after three days. Tendered my resignation on the day it was approved.

Just another follow up question... when will we need to cancel our current EP? Also, on the day I cancelled my EP, who do I need to give back that green card thingy.

After giving back the green card, then I do not have a white card to leave the country.

Any experience eh?

you will surrender your ep card on the last day that you stay with your current employer, they will print out a letter which you will be allow to stay at singapore for 30 days and cancel your ep online.

That letter will be collected upon leaving of singapore, you don't need a white card.

I ON one, I'm always looking to move SGD to MYR every other month or so. The problem is the trust issue ... I need to bank in SGD to forumer X, and he need to bank MYR to me, but who does the first move? If me, how willing am I to trust some random stranger with my money and vice versa?

what service do you use? my current bank (scb) charges are ridiculous, sgd40-50 each time. It's been mentioned few times in this thread that maybank can do it for $15 or so, but I lazy to open another account with them just for the occasional remittance every few months.
