First of all get your facts right. Alarm is a triggering system to warn you about possible intrusion and NOT to prevent your car from being started. That's what the immobiliser is for. If you so worried why don't just install the alarm yourself? smile.gif
*
for sure i'm gonna install the alarm but kinda excited when you described the alarm is piece of useless junk only produce loud noise. your car only can start with it immobiliZer, perhaps you're to naive.

try google abit how car alarm work, give you a hint "car alarm wiki" mr. smart.

A car alarm is an electronic device installed in a vehicle in an attempt to discourage theft of the vehicle itself, its contents, or both. Car alarms work by emitting high-volume sound (usually a siren, klaxon, pre-recorded verbal warning, the vehicle's own horn, or a combination thereof) when the conditions necessary for triggering are met, as well as by flashing some of the vehicle's lights, and (optionally) notifying the car's owner via a paging system and interrupting various electrical circuits necessary for the car to start.

Yours don't have meh? Better get it soon or you won't be able to ferry a third passenger at the back smile.gif

If you don't have a lap belt at the back, then what's that belt-like contraption sticking out in the middle seat?

This "might" be able to be prevented if this Forte has good alarm. A good alarm which able to detect any vibration a.k.a lifting the car like this.

aye. I hear you bro, but no moolah for a good system. just replaced the rims, tyres, glass and re-tint.. sad.gif cry.gif

but I was quite surprised when I found out our baby don't come with an alarm system sweat.gif

Btw for bros who are changing/planning to change the glass for forte (unlikely), there're two hues of our glass in the market: a normal plain glass (transparent) and a greenish hue one. I'm not sure why there're two variants but my baby comes with the greenish hue glass and the latter is much darker after tinting. got me headache for one week starring at the very bright passenger window before switching them to the right one doh.gif

1. if u wan buy cars other than Toyota and Honda, even Nissan, forget about resale value. Mazda and Suzuki's resale value also very low. A normal Suzuki Swift(High Specs 1.5, not Sport) cost around RM80++k to 90++k, for 2009 model only can sell half of the price(RM40++k, review from year 2011, not 2012), intake price even lower....same goes with Mazda. Resale value for KIA/Hyundai cars are the same as Suzuki/Mazda. So please if resale value is important to you, Toyota and Honda. Nissan's resale value not as good as Toyota and Honda, but better than Mazda/Suzuki/KIA/Hyundai, while maintenance wise is the cheapest among all.
2. For brand outlook, Mazda 3 still beats all the cars you've mentioned, but what turn me down on Mazda 3 is the technology, rear passenger space and height of the car. Looks great, better than Forte. But since now Mazda 3 and Forte are both CKD, is up to you to decide.
3. Accessories for Forte a.k.a. Poisons, alot. If you seriously in getting a Forte, then buy it. after owned it, join MFC website then you can see 'tons' of poisons for you that will make your mind 'poisoned'....
4. Comfortable wise, Mazda 3....as it's using Multi-link suspension, while Altis and others are using Torsion beam...don't know the difference?? Wikipedia 'em.
5. Seriously, value for money??? Perhaps Proton Preve?? more powerful more sensors. Forte will be next.
6. So far I've owned Forte(2010 4 spd 1.6SX), no major problem at all(except modification parts)....

Well, you are in a forte forum so most likely we will push for forte when it comes to comparing all those cars that you've mentioned above. Most of us went through the same thing like you and the end result? We are in this forum means that we end up choosing Forte. If you go to a Toyota or Honda forum and they'll hard sell toyota n honda to you. smile.gif

Simple question here: have you gone for a test drive for all the cars that you've listed yet? If you haven't, then please do so, it'll really help on deciding which is the better/more value for money/etc car.

Though for the 3 models that you've listed, the price difference is huge... Forte 2.0 at 97K versus Mazda 3 1.6 at 112K..

The feel of driving the car yourself matters the most - end of the day, you will look for the car you are most comfortable with.

Unless you are purely buying a car for the resale value, then by all means, go for TOYOTA or HONDA, most forte owners here don't really care about Forte's resale value when we bought this car.

Though with the increase of Forte on the road and with people gaining more confidence in KIA/Hyundai, I'm not surprised to see the resale value for KIA/Hyundai to be better in the years to come.
