how's the fuel consumption so far?..

So far haven't gone for 1st 1000km service yet.. so I've been driving quite tamely these few days. Fuel consumption about 10L/100km. Traveled about 240km already and I've still got slightly less than half tank.. I've yet to refill my petrol yet. hahaha tongue.gif

QUOTE(flawracle @ Mar 5 2012, 11:07 PM)
Hi guys,

I am looking for a new car as a replacement for my old iswara and after doing some survey, i am deeply interested with kia forte 1.6SX.

As this will be my first car (buying using my own money), I would like to ask some questions:

1. Due to my parents intervention, they are against me on buying Korean cars whereby from the rumors they heard (which i somewhat disagree with them) that spare parts for the korean cars is somewhat expensive. To what degree is it true to this? Will it be the same if its Honda? or Toyota or perhaps Ford cars?

2. 9-year loan. All the disadvantages regarding 9-year loan for a car aside, will i actually secure any loans for this period of time if i wanted to buy the car? Or maximum period of loan repayment is capped for 7-years? This will be my 1st time buying my own car, appreciate some advises on this.

Thanks!

To answer Q1.. I've did quite some research on this matter for some time before choosing the Forte. Look at the roads now. No doubt that there a lot of Toyotas and Hondas around, however look at the number of Fortes. The number of Fortes on the road has increased drastically. Yes, parts are expensive now because less demand for it means the price for the parts will be higher (not to mention "grade A" spares). But in the near future, I feel that there will definitely be more demand thus more parts = cheaper parts smile.gif

Then you look at the price of a Forte and see what it offers in terms of functionality. Honda City and Toyota Vios for the same price you get an empty car. Some people might argue and say that toyota and honda handling better. You go test drive all those 3 cars (toyota, honda and forte). They aren't far apart smile.gif Then you have to consider, Forte is same class as Civic and Altis. Way cheaper too! Cannot compare with Civic's performance ofcourse tongue.gif If I had the money, will definitely go for Civic tongue.gif

Btw, fellow Forte owners out there. Got experience any door issues? My car, after 2 weeks now, I only realize got problem with my back left door. From inside sometimes cannot open! rclxub.gif see mood one. When I went to the SC this morning and told that guy, his expression was "again???" sweat.gif Not sure how many of you experience this issue doh.gif

Hi bro,

Just wanna ask, PU/ABS is supposed to be quite strong right? As in, won't crack easily right? My bumper hit humps a few times (cos not used to the lowered body) then i realized it cracked. Was i dupped?

is it PU or ABS first? PU and ABS are total opposites so to speak..PU is cheaper while ABS is tougher but more expensive...most BK are PU to bring costs down..i suppose yours is PU that's why easily cracked

PU = how much and ABS = how much??

not too sure for forte tho...maybe u should check with the seller your BK is PU or ABS material? but even ABS its not an armor plating you know..if simply go thru bump sure can come off also
*
BK?? Whats that? I called him up he said ABS. But does it look like ABS to you? How to see difference? I only hit bump once and scrape the floor a few times (cos of high slope incline). Cannot be so easy rightt? I would expect it to look like what it is now (all scratches).. but to break? cry.gif

Anyone looking for pull left issue? Mechanic at Glenmarie service center managed to somewhat solve the issue. Not 100% but not so obvious already.

Ask for Fendi to settle your pull left issue smile.gif Make sure you give him ample time to troubleshoot though smile.gif

Just the opposite, the SA here recommended Metal Bronze to me. They got 4 ~ 5 units of ex-stock here. BTW, the most popular colour I think is the Clear White. More than 50% of the Forte I noticed on the road are White in colour.  But I really love Black. Kinda like invisible at night. I have made up my mind; going to order a 2.0L SX next month. Hopefully they manage to find me one Black Baby.
*
Good luck on that lolx. From what I heard from my sales lady, now only got 3 colours - Titanium Grey, Clear White and Silver. This is because the other colours not so "hot", thats why they don't produce anymore. I tried to ask for black too, but my sales lady told me impossible unless I go respray when the car comes in icon_question.gif

you're right. there's also a lot less black forte on the road. most common now is clear white and titanium silver. closest to black i guess is titanium silver? which is a nice color honestly. white is great too but if u like washing your car often, go ahead and get white - it does look really nice smile.gif
*
When I deal with the sales lady, she told me all colours got ready stock. Once pay, paperwork settled, can straight take car.

I opted for Titanium silver. Already booked in fact, then suddenly sales lady told me no stock and if want, have to wait sad.gif So I opted for the next best available colour.. White icon_rolleyes.gif

I'm using RON95 and face engine knocking issue once in a blue moon, especially I purposely ease the pedal while climbing up hill. It only happen 3~4 seconds then the sound gone. It seem like engine is smartly adapt itself based on the condition. While my old Wira is knocking all the way up to the hill  sweat.gif
*
Now that you guys are on this topic, my 2.0L has knocking when its on very low speeds and when I do not press the accelerator. Like when you put to D and let the car move forward by itself. But that itself, the sound is very faint and only can be heard if you are sitting in front and with the radio off / mute. hmmmm unsure.gif

Never really noticed until I see you guys complaining about it. I feel that the noise from outside is more distinctive than the knocking sound. Really need to pay attention only can hear whistling.gif

QUOTE(epo @ Mar 28 2012, 05:40 PM)
mine different... since day 1 using RON95...
knocking heard when cold start only, once the engine hot that sounds dissapeared...
slow/high accelerator, no knocking sounds detected...
when i record that sound during cold start and show it to taipan052, he said "forte kau enjin diesel ke"...  vmad.gif
now i change my engine oil to liqui moly, heard can reduce the rougher sound... still monitoring...
*
Yeah, now that you mentioned it, it DOES sound like a diesel engine when you listen to it sweat.gif But really, mine very subtle. Been using RON95 since day 1 too. And yeah, the sound does disappear for me when I'm cruising at speeds > 40kmph

Anyone in Penang that can recommend SA that can give good discount or good freebies? Planning to buy the 1.6SX. Went to the KIA in AutoCity Juru but SA only give RM300 tint voucher, discount on bodykit (pay RM1400), carpet mat, and K logo.
*
Actually la, those tint discount provided by SA no use one. I've been to the shops that provide them the discount, some of them can actually give you more discount without the discount voucher. Depend on how you "kamching" with them la thumbup.gif I managed to nego with one of the tint shop (cannot mention names cause they told me not to tell out) to give me RM900 off the tint whereas my SA only give me RM500 voucher. Same goes for bodykit, carpet and K emblem. Unless you're getting it for free, I think with a little effort and research and some sweet talking, you can save a lot smile.gif

This is what I got from my SA:
- bodykit (have to pay RM2000). I saw in lyn, ppl selling for RM8XX. plus spray paint and workmanship, maybe max cost you RM1200?
- K emblem front back for free
- Smart tag for free (without TnG, cause I already have it)
- Rim lock for free

She offered me:
- Body Kit + Front-back K emblem + 4 K emblem wheel cap + boot tray + GPS HU for RM5500 I think (I saw online K emblem wheel cap selling RM50? Correct me if I'm wrong. But I don't need also, plan to change Rims in the near future rclxms.gif , Kira here kira there, GPS HU will actually cos about RM3k in that bundle, outside sell RM900?)
- RM500 tint voucher (didn't take it up cause I want a very good tint, and my friend knows a friend that does tinting. Got my 3M tint for quite cheap icon_rolleyes.gif )
- Boot tray for RM150 (I saw online only RM90)

could the FL be the limited edition forte?
the ones where they remove the reverse camera display on the rear mirror and incorporate it into the HU? not sure... KIA suppose to launch things easily and suddenly compares to its cousin Hyundai Elantra.
*
Haha, can't be. When I went to book mine, this type of forte already available. The bodykit slightly different design. And not like us, we have to "add" it, this one, the bodykit IS part of the chassis itself. But not worth lor to trade with reverse camera. You add yourself the camera, one day something spoilt then SC blame the wiring caused by the camera, then you mati. lol. At least add bodykit youself, SC cant blame anything tongue.gif
