hi everyone... im currently looking for a car that is under 100k and some forum advise me to get this car instead of others... so im here seeking advise from the owners of this car... should i or should i not get this good looking car? how is the performance compare to spectra? any problem so far?
and i also thinking about taking the 2.0sx version...
*
If you want to see what issues Forte has - read through the thread, the common issues has been brought up a few times (alignment, minor noise, etc). Other than that, the car works just fine. I'm driving a 1.6sx and so far I have no complains (25,000KM closing in to 1 year now..).

Comparing this to Spectra? Big difference............................

One regret that I had was why I didn't go for 2.0 instead of 1.6.. Forte is a pretty heavy car so 1.6 might feel a lil under power during pick up, but I love forte for the stability during high speed.

Go and test drive all the cars below 100K so you can have a better understanding on how different they are from one another and also know why we went for Forte instead of other brands.. tongue.gif tongue.gif

Cars that I know below 100k (Sedan, not hatchback or small cars) and I've tested:

1. Honda City (my 2nd option after Forte back then, but the waiting list was crazy long and it's kinda small for me... Forte, due to the design, it's pretty big and spacious )
2. Toyota Vios
3. Proton Inspira
4. Chevrolet Cruze
5. Nissan Sentra
6. Mazda 2
7. Peugeot 207

There are some concerns around the 2nd hand value for Forte (since Korean cars are not as popular as JP cars), but for me the driving comfort matters most, don't really give a crap about the 2nd hand value... Cars, anyhow, will depreciate anyways..

Hope this helps..

Sadly, there are some things we can't check. Like things that are wrapped in plastic. I don't think they will allow you to tear open the plastic wrapper to inspect the whole car lol... So most of the time we just have to go for warranty claims... sad.gif

What I meant, is that they won't allow you to inspect a car thoroughly by tearing away all the plastic wrapping and then decide you don't want this unit.
*
Lucky me, I actually opened up all the plastics when I took my car, I had the same problem as well, there was a very obvious scratch line at the back seat. The SA had to change my whole back seat - during then there was a 1.6 changing to Leather seat so they just swapped the seat to my car and it's done.

My friend took his car also had the same issue, there was a scratch line at his middle compartment (where you put keys etc)

So good advise for all, please open up the plastics and check for scratches.

Hi guys,
thinking to get a forte, but before that i need to understand more abt this car from u guys...

1. service cost
Wat is the average service cost ?

Read the first Page.

2. service center
is it good and provide good service ?

Depends on which branch you go to

3. trade in
any of u guys trade in your car before ? i hv a very old wira, 1997 1.5 auto. Wonders what is the rough trade in rate

Walk in a second hand car dealer and ask, none of us sells car here so we don't know the value of 2nd car.

4. model
i thinking to get Ex due to my limited budget. how u guys think ? i'm really seeking a car for long term usage as well as use it as a family car.

It's all about budget. If you have enough money, go for SX, if not go for EX. If you ask us which is better, of course SX, it's a no brainer.

5. where to get
any idea on where is the best center to get from ?

Go 2-5 pages back there's tons of discussion about this.

6. discount and freebies
what is the average discount and freebies i should ask for

Go 2-5 pages back there's tons of discussion about this.

7. the car badge
now is hook up with Kia badge or the K badge ?

I would assume you are talking about the logo at the front and the back of the car. It's NAZA. K or KIA was never offered for stock Forte (Unless your SA include it as a free gift).

Hope to hear from u guys soon and pls feel free to share more if u guys dun mind.

My reply above. But seriously, read a few pages back and you can get a lot of your questions answered already.

hi guys, wanna ask~~ just settle up my credit card debt last week~~ but b4 dat, i didn't pay even a sen for about a year~~ think sure kena Criss/Ctos d, clear da debt last week, may i know will my criss/ctos clear after this?
if yes, it take how long? i need to prepare for car loan~~
*
CTOS is permanent tied to you. I don't think it will ever be cleared.

Well if you wanna apply for loan, you can try your luck, maybe some banks are desperate enough they are willing to take the risk, then they will offer you the loan that you need.

Don't think anyone can answer your question on what's the % you can get.. Why not walk in to a bank and get them to check for you? It's free of charge dude...

Anyone know the new HU spec? now have to decide whether old radio or touchscreen radio. which one recommended?

1 Utama in PJ is doing car roadshows and I saw the Forte with HU and Optima there. If you are from PJ you can drop by there to take a look. Looks very similar to the one selling in MyForteClub forum to me..

I was there yesterday, how can that be 2 weeks ago? It's at the empty area (near Coach). Not sure if it was a special event for yesterday public holiday only or what though. There were tons of cars there on display (from Suzuki, KIA, Mutsibishi, etc).

That bad? We be driving in the city most of the time including daily traffic jam to work every morning. Do you think is not advisie to get this car?
*
Depends on what you call "High fuel consumption".....

I'm driving 1.6 SX 6 Speed. I'm constantly stucked in traffic jam (staying in PJ and I always have to travel during peak hours), so I would say it's about 70% city driving 30% highway (go outstation on weekends)

RM65 bucks petrol can go about 350-400KM (Sometimes I had to stop somewhere waiting for ppl so obviously it'll burn more fuel), which is about 10-11L/100KM..

To me, this is not high as I was driving a proton previously and the petrol consumption was higher than my Forte..

hello guys

i am headance about getting comparison about this three car.

withim my budget Mazda 3,Kia forte SX,Toyota altis 1.6E

value money and accesories: Forte SX
comfortable and brand, resale values: Toyota altis
brand and outlooking:Mazda 3

forte fans.please give me an advise about this car ,would you consider about the resale values?
*
Well, you are in a forte forum so most likely we will push for forte when it comes to comparing all those cars that you've mentioned above. Most of us went through the same thing like you and the end result? We are in this forum means that we end up choosing Forte. If you go to a Toyota or Honda forum and they'll hard sell toyota n honda to you. smile.gif

Simple question here: have you gone for a test drive for all the cars that you've listed yet? If you haven't, then please do so, it'll really help on deciding which is the better/more value for money/etc car.

Though for the 3 models that you've listed, the price difference is huge... Forte 2.0 at 97K versus Mazda 3 1.6 at 112K..

The feel of driving the car yourself matters the most - end of the day, you will look for the car you are most comfortable with.

Unless you are purely buying a car for the resale value, then by all means, go for TOYOTA or HONDA, most forte owners here don't really care about Forte's resale value when we bought this car.

Though with the increase of Forte on the road and with people gaining more confidence in KIA/Hyundai, I'm not surprised to see the resale value for KIA/Hyundai to be better in the years to come.

the new KIA K3 also bothers me..... i am goin to buy my forte next month.....
but what if the K3 is priced a lil higher than the current Forte?
my point of view.... if u deperately need a new car, buy whatever that is in the market now. Car design gets better and better every year. There is no way we can chase after the design change.
Example look at the elantra.... super dissapointment.... till today they did not refund back my booking fee.
But the interior of the new K3 will look just like the optima K5. A bit "uncle" dont you think?
*
They did a roadshow at CiitaMall Kelana Jaya 2 weeks back for Hyundai Elantra... I stood there for 30 minutes staring at the car... After a while, I'm bored of the design n the looks already.

Walked back to my Forte, after driving it for over a year, I still enjoy looking at my car. The verdict? I'll still pick Forte if I need to make the decision again. tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif

anyone facing the "N" gear not lighting up / blinking/lighting up intermittently on the 6 speeder? i've noticed this problem for about 2-3 weeks already, din really do anything cos rarely use the N gear, doesn't affect the gear itself or other gears though, just the lighting. Anyone face this b4?
*
Yo Cyberkewl!

Never had this problem though. Though I have intermittent problem on reverse camera (every 20-30 times I go into R it'll happen once) the images won't appear on the screen. Can't even show it to the service center coz it happens so rarely.... sad.gif

Are you hitting 30k yet? I think you got your car earlier than me...

Is  the 1.6 sufficient or is it recommended to go for 2.0? monthly instalment slightly higher but i plan to use the car for at least 7 to 10 years.. not the kind to keep changing cars.

Currently in need of a long term car cos my old trusty corolla is going to be given to my younger brother.
*
If you can handle the installment, by all means go for the 2.0. I kinda regretted my decision to go for 1.6 SX even though I could afford it.

One of the main key points that I chose not to go for 2.0 was due to the fuel consumption (I am always stuck in traffic jam and Forte is quite heavy so 1.6 feels a bit underpower) and I never liked leather seats, it burns after your car is under the sun for a few hours. Other than that, it's all positive stuff that you gain from that few thousand more...

I have this problem before. the rear camera doesn't work occasionally until one day it stop working. Sent it to the SC and they said it is a common problem due to the loose connector for the rear camera. They refitted the connector and now the camera work without any problems.
*
Hey AskDS, did you have to wait until your next service to do it or you just went to a SC when your reverse cam failed? Mine just failed this morning... Stopped working entirely.. sad.gif
