do try a hand at them..
there are some good lenses for a fraction of the cost but ala leica, zeiss, nokton manual focusing, apperture controls..

do have a look at the pentax takumars m42 mount lenses.. good lenses..
cameras come and go.. these lenses will stay on in my dry box.

ps.. there was a gathering of the nex users.. a tt session where peeps exchanged ideas, views and info about all things nex..

I've got one new and unused in the ori styrofoam bag. Willing to let it go for RM80 as well.

I tried my friend's Canon 550D. The first thing i notice is that through the optical viewfinder, I can't immediately see what effects the selected iso and shutter would have. Which means I had to do more guessing, instinct and requires more experience to shoot with it. U may see a clear pic on the viewfinder, but due to the settings the resulting picture would be too dark. With NEX, you would already know it will be dark just by looking at the rear screen before shooting. NEX sorts of simulates the picture before you capture it.

In other words, we Nex users are being spoonfed hehe, but of course technology enhancements are supposed to make our lives easier.

I do like the 550D front dial situated at the right middle finger to change the shutter speed. Press and hold another button while turning the dial makes it change the aperture instead, which is quick n convenient. well.. that's until NEX-7 appeared

The 550D focusing is also noticeably faster.

First try borrowing or buying a 'Blower'. looks like some 1/3 inflated baloon with a tube at the end. Then give the sensor some blow *s. Never blow with the mouth no matter how tempting or desperate you are. Never use the regular cotton buds.

If that doesn't give any joy, then send the cam to Sony center. Mine's there at the moment since last Friday and should get it back this coming week.

@ jtan.pdr Tnx but isn't it difficult using tripod when the objects are moving all over the place? Yeah not easy...better macro-ing on flower..more static ..This probably my best macro shot of those ants dy:

I accidentally dropped my NEX-5N, there's a hairline crack on the side. Anyone knows where can I repair, probably fill it with some epoxy and paint over it? I am also wondering if I could replace that part of the casing if I bring it to Sony service center.

Do you guys know when to buy SEL24F18Z cheap?
The retail price is RM3,799.
Any one bought lower than that price?

In Sg Wang..it's either Boeing or Photo Edar/Bintang haha. But their accesories damn expensive..BTW, I'm the one kena slaughtered for buying cheap NEX5N but expensive filters there

NEX 5 is cheap bcos it's older version of NEX5N. For 2 lens NEX 5 can be same price as a new NEX5N wth only 1 lens. And that 1 lens itself can be inthe region of ~RM800 already!

BTW, I got my NEX5N + the 18-55 lens for RM2190. Vheap -Yes but not the filters & acessories

i got mine for RM3,250 from Zaloon. Fantastic lens.

This is normal la bro.. Normally, i will sapu my camera from there, and slowly hunt for filters later.

That's bloody cheap, actually.

NEX-7 body goes for RM4499, while the SEL18200 normally retails from 2100 ~ 2300. In other words, the lens will cost only RM1400.

Added on February 20, 2012, 12:23 pmMTF charts compared to their FF 50/2.8 EX is great on paper. Can't wait to see some actual shots with this lens. For it's price, it's a really sweet deal. Considering the 2.8 aperture, it's not really a huge issue when you factor in the price and size.
