Tnx. Just now play abit wth +10 macro lens..now can focus very close dy  rclxms.gif but if wth the UV filter in frontm the 4 edge abit darker and if I add the +4 in front of +10, getting slight closer focus but the edge getting even darker....I think can get natural lomo effect using +14 liao haha  blush.gif ..pic quality probably affected and more light needed kua?

Just check the effect wth just +10 macro filter Vs just only +10. Both in abit darker environment wth light maingly from my desktop LCD haha

Do they still sell the SEL18200 for RM2000 if any of us wants it separately??

Maybe we can gather a few people and buy in bulk, perhaps can get cheaper biggrin.gif Another viable option would be Tamron 18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 Di III VC (I actually prefer this) which was announced/launched not long ago, it even comes in sexy black drool.gif
http://www.tamron.co.jp/en/lineup/b011/index.html

Local distro for Tamron already has it, price is still high atm but should drop after 3-4 months... Hopefully tongue.gif

Yes yes, can get a quote for bulk purchases??

Tamron B011 at the moment have issues with the sweep panorama feature. Better to hold your purchase until there is an official Fix or some announcement.

NEx-5n require Mount Adaptor to use SEL18200 lens?
*
SEL No need. SAL , SAM, SSM need.

On another note, i am having this crazy idea where the lens elements are not made of glass. But instead, made from some high clarity plastics or polymer. The difference is that the plastic/polymer will be made pliable and flexible. As you turn the zoom ring, the plastic/polymer will change shape from concave to convex allowing dynamic control of distortions and optical properties. sweat.gif

Dude, not sure if that is a sensitive picture or not, and whether advisable to be posted here like this. A little more discretion and sensitivity would be welcome.

Bear in mind there are many other persons with different beliefs that share this thread.

Guys. Is marumi super dhg for 120 cheap? Lol. Argh. I wanna get macro filter fast. Lol.
*
I bought the same Marumi s dhg CPL for the same price, probably in July last year. It works and you can twist it to adjust the amount of polarization. Yesterday, I had to wash it under running water after beach visits. No worries about water seeping it as the area between the 2 glasses remained dry after washing. I would recommend this filter.

WHat does CPL do...? lol... dunno what is that so i just take the normal DHG without cpl... lol...
*
Hmm.. practically I use it for Sea/Lake/water/window/glass aka REFLECTIVE surface pictures. Example, if you are take a picture of a car windscreen in daylight you will get like a film of white covering the windscreen, obscuring the view of the interior . But with the CPL, the windscreen magically becomes clear again and will able to now see the dashboard and interior. Water.. instead of the silvery reflective, shimmering color, you will get to see through the water or see the real blue/green color of the sea. ... whistling.gif unfortunately it doesn't allow you to see through fabric.

Anyone has experienced sending their NEX to Sony center for sensor cleaning?? How was it, and do they charge us for it?

Thanks.

yeah me too.. now eyeing for a cheap Marumi DHG lens protect & maybe another Marumi for CPL filter also.

Seems not many LYN traders carrying 49mm CPL filter though.
*
What I did is to get a step up ring 49-52mm. I share the filter for my other 52mm lens. Means you should probably think ahead which other lens you want to get and what size it would be first.

i always shoot landscape with Aperture mode f8 - f16 ... actually im lucky to stay here in borneo .. can get beautiful sunset almost everyday ..
tq bro .. i still learning .. shooting everyday .. hehe ..
i read at fredmiranda forum .. minolta md 35-70 f3.5 is a good macro lens .. but not 1:1 mag ratio .. btw i not into macro .. but  im interested with carl zeiss flektogon 35 2.4 also with macro option ..
*
I'm using F16 to F22 on the kit, cause i like all the max depth i can get smile.gif , and it blacks out the objects in the foreground.

BTW.. sweat.gif The SEL18200 price increase is real.

Rumor has it that TAMRON Europe acknowledges the Sweep panorama issue and will issue a firmware fix by end of March.

On another note, went to Tanjung sepat with Friends, so more new pics in the gallery.

No photo taking for the next few days, as I have just sent my NEX-5 to Sony center KLCC for sensor cleaning. The lady mentioned that it should take 5 days or less and will call if it finishes sooner. It's generally RM20 for sensor cleaning after warranty but it can balloon up to RM150 depending on what dirt and gunk u've got on the sensor.

I've got one new and unused in the ori styrofoam bag. Willing to let it go for RM80 as well.

QUOTE(s7ran9er @ Feb 18 2012, 11:22 PM)
yo fellowship of the Orange side! I always recommend my friends to buy one NEX camera whenever they ask me for opinion on getting a entry level dslr, I'd recommend them to get a Nex camera, though I've not really use one for myself, HAHA. biggrin.gif

I got the chance to try the C3 at a store and dug some info out of the Internet and coming from the user of Nikon and Canon DSLR myself, I have to admit that the Nex series cameras do have a serious pack of performance in such a camera body and capable of out-performing the "Rebel" (Well depending on the situation and I dont wanna butthurt those DSLR users, just simply my own opinion anyway.)

Surely I'll get one NEX camera for myself in the future. smile.gif
*
I tried my friend's Canon 550D. The first thing i notice is that through the optical viewfinder, I can't immediately see what effects the selected iso and shutter would have. Which means I had to do more guessing, instinct and requires more experience to shoot with it. U may see a clear pic on the viewfinder, but due to the settings the resulting picture would be too dark. With NEX, you would already know it will be dark just by looking at the rear screen before shooting. NEX sorts of simulates the picture before you capture it.

In other words, we Nex users are being spoonfed hehe, but of course technology enhancements are supposed to make our lives easier.

I do like the 550D front dial situated at the right middle finger to change the shutter speed. Press and hold another button while turning the dial makes it change the aperture instead, which is quick n convenient. well.. that's until NEX-7 appeared nod.gif

The 550D focusing is also noticeably faster.

QUOTE(jtleon @ Feb 19 2012, 10:19 AM)
how do we clean the image sensor of the NEX C3?
thanks
*
First try borrowing or buying a 'Blower'. looks like some 1/3 inflated baloon with a tube at the end. Then give the sensor some blow *s. Never blow with the mouth no matter how tempting or desperate you are. Never use the regular cotton buds.

If that doesn't give any joy, then send the cam to Sony center. Mine's there at the moment since last Friday and should get it back this coming week.

Haha..honestly I also yet to master foto-chop
*
Use gimp/ . PhotoChop not required, it's free and clears your conscience haha..smile.gif

The only setbacks I have encounter with GIMP so far is.. 1) batch processing 2) Lens correction 3) Once in a while the buttons and pointers misbehave. For 1 and 2, i would have to hunt for the scripts, plugins if they exists for the latest GIMP version.

QUOTE(serewen @ Feb 23 2012, 09:12 AM)
Anyone tried this external flash? is that worth to buy or what big differences in between the built in one ? hmm.gif
*
yea.. like u want the effect where persons face to be nicely exposed on the left, but shadow on the right side then the flash is placed at an angle on the left. On camera flash u would get both sides equally lit. Asking the person to stand next to a window is a workaround.

Placing the flash behind the person to get the golden glow around the Silhouette of the person. I guess for more creative photos, external flashes would be an advantage. I was interested with off camera flash, went hunting for YongNuo, but was put off by the lack of a hotshoe + preflash issue on NEX3,5.

On another note, I am not sure whether to be impressed or worried. sweat.gif

I callled Sony service today; instead of cleaning the sensor as i have instructed, they went to look for dust in my kitlens and now want to help me to clean the dust inside the lens!! This they said would require opening it up and dunno what la. Hopefully the don't forget to clean the APS-C sensor before returning it to me and may i get back a working lens. No charges for the lens and sensor cleaning as the NEX is still under warranty.

Why don't you clean it by yourself instead? There's a sensor cleaning mode for NEX cam, and we only need to use blower to blow the dust off?

Wait till u get particles that cannot be blown off the sensor.., then u'll know.

hey guys quick question here to confirm something.

If i would like to shoot something (figurines) behind a glass cabinet a CPL filter would help me get a better shot right?

Going to Cybertroncon next month & im sure lots of pics to be taken behind glass cabinets & reflections bothers me tongue.gif.

Here's the effect the Marumi DHG CPL will give u. I was shooting at an angle through a glass table>
