Release date? If it is any closer, I can defer my purchase from Taipei for local version. I've waited more than half a year for this. Not sure I can wait any longer. The SONY NEX Discussion Thread V3

Sony NEX-7 is available here in Taipei. NTD39,990. Body only. Too bad the 18-55mm lens is of different color. The Carl Zeiss 24mm lens is NTD 33,550. Should I?

QUOTE(axii @ Feb 1 2012, 08:03 PM) Different color? Do you mean Black, or Silver? People were clamoring for the black kit. RM4109 converted sounds good... since list price here is RM4899 with kit. The lens is from 5N. There's no black 5N lens. Only silver.I'm might just cave in and just get the Carl Zeiss lens. Tired of Sony's tardiness. |

QUOTE(hisel @ Feb 4 2012, 10:41 PM) Congratulations! Question to the pros here. Would OSS matter? CZ lens doesn't have OSS, would it make any difference when t comes to the Carl Zeiss 24mm f1.8 lens? |

Which brings it to NTD 50,302. Which in turn converts to MYR 5,132. 24 months warranty for the lens. 24 + 6 months warranty for body. This post has been edited by stringfellow: Feb 6 2012, 10:17 PM |

Taiwan only warranty. Travel here often enough to not worry about that part.

QUOTE(Hico @ Feb 9 2012, 09:39 PM) Body and 15-55mm from Taipei. NTD39,990 and NTD9,880. Respectively. Converted to RM = RM5,088. Tax refunded at the airport 5%, becomes RM4,834. The Carl Zeiss 24mm got from Zaloon for RM3,250. RRP for that 24mm is RM3,799. |

I dot have a NEX5/5N to compare. All I know that I moved from E-P1 and GH1 and the NEX7 shits on them both, wipes the floor with it!So much so that I'm putting these two cameras and lenses for sale.

QUOTE(Hico @ Feb 9 2012, 10:50 PM) The Oly is a mess in high ISOs, so does the Pana, Crank up the ISO and watch the image crawl. I'd say on both cameras, it's usable up to ISO800. 1600 is pushing it, Pana can manage it but the Oly will be hunting nonstop. Broad daylight, the Oly trounces the Pana when it comes to color reproduction, but the Pana takes excellent 1080p24 video with its stock kit lens, even at night. Pana ekes out slightly better battery life, compared to the Oly, but only just slightly. I'd reckon the Sony gets better battery endurance than both of them. With the NEX7, I can have Oly's punchy color reproduction and Pana's excellent low light video recording. Best of both world. Hence the sale of both cameras. |

I've got mine with the 18-55 silver lens too. Gonna sell it for the black lens once it is made available. Using the 24mm for the time being. Delicious bokeh!

QUOTE(psyeo @ Feb 11 2012, 02:53 PM) Looking for bags/case for Nex5n i don't like the one that comes free with it.. Original case by Sony looks good to me. How I wish I can find the same one for NEX-7. Selection so damn sparse for NEX-7 accessories. Just now looking for hand grip strap for the NEX-7. The ones for Alphas all sold out, the slimmer one so loose. I hate the neck strap for the NEX-7, it's slim so it'll dig into your shoulders. The larger ones for Alphas semua sold out. Also looking for screen protector. Any recommendation fellow sifu? Only got time to look at KLCC SonyStyle. Gotta go home and pack for Osaka flight tonight. Might as well I buy these accessories there at Yodobashi Camera downtown Osaka. I'd prefer proper accessories than the third party ones that doesnt suit/fit well. QUOTE(ChinWY @ Feb 11 2012, 04:48 PM) I only use a wrist strap ... home made. Find commercial ones too big. Like to keep it simple. NEX can be a very stealth camera. Like to keep it that way.. a simple strap enough to loop over my wrist and to prevent an accidental drop is all I need. Straps like this are easy to find. Cant get from Gordy, or even use straps from Nintendo Wii or PSP. I'm looking for Hand grip straps that attaches to the strap loop on the NEX-7 and the bottom of the NEX body via tripod mount, so that it can dangle safely if need while I move around. I'm using it naked now, without the neck strap and all. I agree on its stealthiness, and I like keeping it simple too, but I'd like to see if there are options like these available before I commit myself to just using the NEX-7 with a wrist strap.![]() May be overkill, but I'm keeping my options open before I commit. |

QUOTE(Dreamworks @ Feb 12 2012, 06:10 PM) Well, it's rather cheap but hard to find reviews on... It's also known as the export version of Helios iianm. Can get for ~RM100 via eBay, 1 member from dpreview even managed to buy 1 for USD5 + USD5 shipping Faux leather. As for sweating, unless the top of your hand sweats and covered by that grip, I reckon it's a non-issue. If the inside of my palm sweats, I'll just release the grip, air our my palm and voila! Dry hands again. Neck/shoulder strap makes the whole NEX setup swings around. And with lenses like the CZ24 and 18-55, it'll sway as I walk. I prefer being at the ready with camera in hand, but I'd like not having to hold on to it all the time. Hence the grip strap.Added on February 12, 2012, 6:14 pm Leather? Definitely not my type because I sweat a lot |

Anybody have recommendation for a compact bag to carry these items together: NEX-7, 18-55mm, CZ24mm, F20AM flash, extra batteries, chargers, and PSVita(external battery, games, chargers)? Using the free bag I got with the NEX-7, and it's bursting at the seams now. Eyeing the Lowepro Passport Sling, mainly coz it doesn't scream "hey I'm carrying a camera, come rob me" look.
Prefer slings/messenger type please. Backpacks and toploaders all have that typical camera bag looks. |
