Still digesting on how to operate..damn getting lazy to read the fine line liao..furthermore my eye kenot focus on the small print darm...

BTW, do you all protect your lens wth filter? I added a Hoya HMC UV filter Y'day bcos the shop say it's necessary for xtra protection & better pic quality

Hmnnn likedat abit got cheated liao lor...bcos the salesperson told me that hoya Hi index multi-coated UV also reduced lens flare wor..accordingly, those standard without coating probably induce flare ...darn...Anyway, Today I got another Hoya macro +4 filter haha..still lotsa things to perfect the picture takingh.. I failed taking macro wth 18-55mm..kenot focus at all..and thus straight away go back to get the macro filter.. blush.gif sad.gif

Only then, found out I need to deactivate the autofocus to get the best macro shot using this limited 18-55...Still looking for cheaper F1.8 lens... sad.gif
QUOTE(Dreamworks @ Feb 5 2012, 11:22 AM)
Protect, yes... Improve pic quality, no. It's the opposite actually, higher chances of bad pic due to lens-flare especially at night where there's artificial light.

Hmmm Tnx. probably will try shooting wth & without that UV coated filter for comparison haha rclxms.gif On the Raynox 250, I googled and found out abit bulky.. They actually offered me another wide-macro filter Y'day and I dun really like it bcos no-name & heavy. So Today I asked them about any thinner macro filter and they recommend this Hoya- close-up +4.. well, I like it bcos much portable compare wth the thick bulky & heavy wide-macro filter..

I will try out the macro after I finished charging my battery...darn so fast finished ...not even 460 shot..less than 30 nia!! probably almsot 1 hr failed macro shooting this morning haha.. blush.gif ..Oh need to chk. When I fully charged Y'day for ~ 2-3hrs, the battery level only ~ 48% is this normal??

QUOTE(Dreamworks @ Feb 5 2012, 05:13 PM)
Multi-coated UV filters (especially good brands like Hoya and B+W) are indeed less prone to flares compared to normal filters, but no matter what it will still not be as good as naked lens. You are after all adding another layer of glass and air for the light to pass through before reaching your sensor.
Hmm... Why not opt for a Raynox DCR-250 instead? Reviews of it are generally quite decent, me considering to get one biggrin.gif

Added on February 5, 2012, 5:29 pmWah good news...but will not be cheap hor haha..the A-mount Alpha 50mm-F1.8 only retailed ~ RM500..but since this E-mount using alu...not cheap hor?
Probably just get a 2nd hand NEX- 16-F2.8 and coupled wth my macro filter..cheaper solution haha hmm.gif
QUOTE(zstan @ Feb 5 2012, 05:08 PM)
NEX got... but they haven't started to ship yet..

Yeahlor..mine not pro but HMC multicoated UV..darm kena con liao... I thought Hoya very expensive but only RM70?? Likedat my Hoya Macro filter probably also ~ RM100 only Adoooiiiii

Furthermore, tested the macro on 18-55mm lens..- No good..can't get even get closer than 10cm..better than without but not till 1cm!! darm conned again cry.gif My current IXUS 300HS macro at F2.0 much better doh.gif ( Edit- I found out the answer liao why wth macro filter also kenot get so close haha..all from the other alpha thread... really noob since coming from digicam camp blush.gif )
QUOTE(Dreamworks @ Feb 5 2012, 06:43 PM)
Yours is the exact same thing? I thought you bought the PRO1 for that price, and even then shashinki isn't exactly the cheapest around doh.gif

Tnx. Just now play abit wth +10 macro lens..now can focus very close dy rclxms.gif but if wth the UV filter in frontm the 4 edge abit darker and if I add the +4 in front of +10, getting slight closer focus but the edge getting even darker....I think can get natural lomo effect using +14 liao haha blush.gif ..pic quality probably affected and more light needed kua?

Just check the effect wth just +10 macro filter Vs just only +10. Both in abit darker environment wth light maingly from my desktop LCD haha

That's some serious vignetting with +10 and +4 stacked, but the size of coins look the same to me in both pics sweat.gif I assume it should be bigger because you can get closer hmm... No need add UV filter in front of close-up filters, less glass more light better quality.

That's my Y'day test macro lor haha. sumore in front of desktop LCD lighthing..for sure dark wan.. That's just to compare the effect of +10 & +4 macro filter with & without additional UV filter in front.. The one wth dark 4 edges were wth UV filter and the one bigger view without UV filter.

For sure wth macro filters, I can get closer to the object liao haha
