hi guys, wanna ask you guys about this issue..
have anyone of you used a third party A-mount to E-mount adapter with aperture select?

i got mine ytd, used it with my 85mm (manual lens) on NEX. With the help of peaking mode, I could focus correctly, but not focus sharply... hmmm..
any help? i am new in NEX scene..hahaha

thanks!

I think mirrorless can definitely take over the APS-C SLR. Fuji and Sony is doing very well. Fuji will have complete zooms and primes in 2013!!!

duno the performance can beat my FF or not? hope so...
but now i prefer lighter cam for daily use, so let go my d700... tongue.gif

darkangel wink.gif use the magnifier to confirm sharpness if subject isn't moving.

I think Fuji is very smart to choose APS-C instead of Full Frame so their body and lenses can be smaller. The sensor technology keep evolving. Now sensor found in Nikon D7000 and Pentax K5 is almost the same as the one found in full frame 5D classic few years back. I think the quality is really good enough for most people.

Sensor size isn't only about how good the image quality it can produce ie ISO. The main physical difference also means that the out of focus areas are also significantly different. In simpler terms, the larger the sensor, the easier it is to have a more out of focus background aka 'bokeh'. This is physics, something which can't be emulated from a smaller sized sensor. Same as a polarizer, the effects can't be 'photoshopped' in to an image apart from using major image manipulation techniques.

Then again, 'most people' wouldn't care less about the technical aspects of photography. So as long the image is properly exposed, it's going up on to Facebook.

I monitor them as a hawk, NEX 5 and NEX 6 too little buttons/dials for my taste. NEX 7 lots of buttons and dials but 24mp seems overkill to me and there is no touch screen. Look like there is really no perfect camera. haha

I have several mounts and no issues with them - if you are referring to manual focusing. The way I see it, you have to do some test to confirm your issue.

1. You lens is 85mm and that is about 135mm in 35mm format. You need a reasonably fast shutter speed. At leat 1/150. Examine your blur image Meta file. Unless you have rock solid hands and good experience in holding a camera steady, chances are you are suffering from camera shake. Remember there is no image stabilization in this setup. BTW, the old school standard is 1 sec hand held on 50mm lens.

2. Peaking mode. Yes it is suppose to be sharp, but depth of field will take a beating for longer lens and wide aperture. Assuming you have no issues with (1) then try setting the mode from high to medium or low. This will narrow down the area you want and not flood the image with a mess of peek lines. You get to see the target area better. In macro photography, we normally set it to medium or low due to the very low depth of field.. it can go less than a mm! under high magnification. Also if your camera is 5n (sorry i have no experience with other models), you can hit the focus magnification. That will give you another x4 on the screen. That will give you a good idea if thing are in our out.

Lastly. It is not a contributing factor if your lens to sensor distance is wrong. A sharp lens will give good pictures if it is in focus - otherwise macro lens will not work!!. The only issue you will have is you cannot get things in focus when the focusing is set to infinity. I have a Schneider Radionar 80mm lens on my NEX. There is no off the shelf adapter for it and I have to make my own brew using focusing tubes combination. With that setup, I can get it to focus down to infinity.

Hope I have answered some of your worries.

just an additional viewfinder with lower pixel than 7... if the rumours are true la...

according to SR, they claimed it will be a "game changer"... if nex6 is the game changer as they claimed then i really yawn.gif
i assumed some big secret weapon behind... probably an early release of nex7 supersede...
