I'm planning to buy a NEX-5N for my coming trip on early Oct.

I've checked around and I found that the price for single lens(NEX-5NK) is around RM2150-2200 with the usual freebies(SD card, bag etc.)

I also understand there's a new NEX-F5 coming next month?

Is it a bad idea to buy it now? Do you guys think there'll be a significant price drop( >RM200? ) for the NEX-5N once the new NEX is announced?

Thanks~

If is me i will wait till mid sept and see how... Price is not the main concern here, but i might want the new function or better performance  rclxms.gif

but for me price is my only concern laugh.gif

mainly because i don't have time to wait for the new NEX as I need the camera before Oct.

Is there a big price drop last year for NEX-5 after the NEX-5N is announced?

Cheaper than F3( <RM1800? sweat.gif )

grey market is like AP set?
I've found a seller online selling AP set NEX-5NK for RM2k but I guess I'll buy a local set just to be safe.

if the rumours are true then NEX-5R will the the only NEX without built in flash

funny cause NEX-5 series is suppose to be higher end than NEX-3 series laugh.gif

or maybe sony thinks that not everyone needs the built in flash hmm.gif

More pics of the upcoming NEX-5R

same like F3, can be tilted up 180 degrees (but cannot be tilted down as much as the current gen i guess? sad.gif )

which is a more useful feature? tilted down for overhead shot or tilted up for self taken portrait?

To the current NEX-F3 owner, do you guys feel hard to take overhead shot? or 13 degrees downwards is actually enough?

We took Sony's latest ILC for a quick spin, and noticed improvements immediately, especially when it came to the focusing system -- going side-by-side with the C3, the newer camera was able to focus much more quickly and accurately in low-light, even with the standard (and generally unimpressive) 18-55mm kit lens. Touchscreen functionality was present as well, just as it was on the 5N, though you can navigate all of the menus with dedicated controls, should you wish. We weren't able to test WiFi functionality, but it sounds promising in theory, especially considering the optional apps. We'll be taking a much closer look once Sony releases its NEX-5R in mid-October - the camera will ship in black, silver or white for $650, or $750 with the standard 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 kit lens. For now, you can take a closer look in our gallery below, or the hands-on video after the break.

Edit: Sony Store US has indicated that the stock will be availble from oct 19
that's almost 2 months from now sad.gif

We liked

The Sony NEX-R5 builds on the features of the Sony NEX-5N and packs some weighty advancements in technology into its small body. The inclusion of apps gives the camera an exciting edge, enabling you to customise it to your style of shooting.

The new hybrid AF system works as advertised, finding focus quickly and locking on to your target. We also found that the continuous AF system delivers a greater number of sharp shots when shooting at high speed than most other CSC systems we've tested.

The big feature when it comes to usability has to be the addition of the new control dial. Its position and ability to quickly change settings makes the Sony NEX-5R a joy to use.

We disliked

The highly reflective finish of the LCD screen can make it difficult, if not impossible, to see in bright sunlight - or when overly sticky fingers have been using the touchscreen.

The lack of an integrated flash means that you have to carry the supplied external flash around with you. Also, the resolution results are slightly disappointing at lower sensitivities when compared against those achieved by Micro Four Thirds cameras.

From this video, the LCD screen can be tilted up 180 degrees like the F3 and also tilted down similar to the 5N. cool!! thumbup.gif

NEX 6 available in US from mid November.

NEX-5R with the new 16-50 pancake zoom as kit lens will be available on next Feb. Price $800.

QUOTE

The NEX-6 will be available in November for $1,000, including Sony's slick new 16-50mm power zoom lens. That f/3.5-5.6 image-stabilized optic will be available as an add-on for any NEX cam beginning in January for $350, or in a kit with the NEX-5R for $800 in February. The company is also launching a new 10-18mm f/4 OSS lens in November for $850, and a 35mm f/1.8 OSS optic in December for $450 -- both of which are pictured with the NEX-6 in our gallery below, along with the hands-on video after the break.

i wonder if Sony will discontinue the current 18-55 kit lens soon hmm.gif

since the 2 lens cover almost the same distance and the 16-50 pancake zoom is only $50 more exp, i think most people would prefer to have the pancake zoom? hmm.gif hmm.gif

same here, i waiting for 5R n stick with 10-18mm...
i need the flip screen n touch screen more...

but nex6 never got 180 flip n touch screen... tongue.gif

yea really weird sony didn't include touch screen in NEX-6
imagine you have to key in the wifi password using the available physical button sweat.gif

but the good thing is NEX-6 will bundle with the new pancake zoom lens, really love that lens slim profile especially after seeing the comparison photo, the 18-55 look huge from the comparison blink.gif

EDIT: just found out from a taiwan based forum the NEX-5R at taiwan will bundle with the new 16-50 as kit lens drool.gif
hope we can get the same kind of bundle as well

NEX-5R body only = NT$19,980
