I guess regular B+W user should know the weight and the glass transmission, if it was ciplak one can directly tell tongue.gif

QUOTE(Irbean @ Jan 26 2012, 10:14 AM)
yup, even when u see the box itself, u can already doubt the genuinity of the filter, without open the box and feel the weight as well as the glass..

You guys made it so easy to distinguish between the real and fake ones... how's the fake's performance? Is it obvious? Like those single coat filters?

I guess bringing along one of the sifus would really be of great help to distinguish between the real and fake ones ! rclxms.gif

not sure on the performance though. Coz dont even bother to purchased one. the price is more or less the same as genuine one.

I read somewhere that some B+W filters were made from alloy for the asian market, not sure if it's true or not coz the brass ones were relatively more expensive and that's the reason B+W came up with the alloy rings instead of the brass ones. IIRC it was dpreview.com

Note about the alloy rings is that over time, the alloy thread 'melts' into the lens thread making it extremely difficult to remove, and only way is to practically destroy the filter to get it removed.

Since this thread moves quite fast, what's the problem with my camera? hmm.gif

See pic you guys will know dy. It doesn't show any folders. http://i.imgur.com/9P9mW.png

Edit : The folder appears for 1 second (when I switch the camera on) then it disappears.

Nevermind. I think it's because of the Capture One software. I restarted and it's fine now.

How do you find it compared to 35mm F1.4G?
I have both and to me both take wonderful pics. I have not tested if the nano coating on the 24mm f/1.4 works.

For me, I will only choose one lens for the other when I feel like using different focal lengths because quality wise, both take great pics.

I think it refers to the F-Pro and XS-Pro. Please correct me if im wrong, coz both are still genuine. Only the ring materials are different, and thickness, the glass is just the same.

nah, not really. there's also few photog which didnt bother what filter they use, chepo or expensive, even didnt use at all. Same goes to Drybox, buy chepo one, or DIY one, or even only use silica gel.

But then ask yourself, spends thousand on the lens, y not spend some for the best filter as well as the best drybox.

BTW it depends on the individuals itself, there no right or wrong.

Yeap, the F-Pro has two different thread,
one is alloy, one is brass.

but now the XS-Pro all are using Brass only imo.

laugh.gif digi guy

dry box is recommended as malaysia climate is quite humid,
if your room is dry enough then it is not necessary

as for 18-105-enough-or-not question,
that one you have to ask yourself,
do you need further zoom or wider focal length
