I experienced that before, my camera + lens dropped from my shoulder.

Hood cracked and the filter frame dented a little but still can use, but lens looks perfectly fine. No scratches or any sign of damage. Best of all its working like nothing happened. My camera kena a few scratches though on the pop up flash area (battle scars!) :S.

I guess regular B+W user should know the weight and the glass transmission, if it was ciplak one can directly tell tongue.gif
*
QUOTE(Irbean @ Jan 26 2012, 10:14 AM)
yup, even when u see the box itself, u can already doubt the genuinity of the filter, without open the box and feel the weight as well as the glass..
*
You guys made it so easy to distinguish between the real and fake ones... how's the fake's performance? Is it obvious? Like those single coat filters?

because nowadays b+w made out of brass, it is heavy unlike hoya  laugh.gif  so if the fake one generous enough they can use brass also haha
glass wise you can try compare like this

I read somewhere that some B+W filters were made from alloy for the asian market, not sure if it's true or not coz the brass ones were relatively more expensive and that's the reason B+W came up with the alloy rings instead of the brass ones.  IIRC it was dpreview.com

Note about the alloy rings is that over time, the alloy thread 'melts' into the lens thread making it extremely difficult to remove, and only way is to practically destroy the filter to get it removed.
*
So far I don't have any issues with my Hoya filter on removing from the filter thread :S... those are alloy isn't it?

still keeping with my d90.. now hand a bit itchy to get d7000 aldy.. haih..

bigger sensor and more AF point.. thats the only advantage..

other than that i dont see any major different..

what do you think guys..

p/s:- not really interested in articulated LCD, so dont recommend me to get d5100.. not interested at all tongue.gif
*
D90 and D7000 are both 1.5x crop APS-C sensors.

Erm...now my lens is install on my camera...So how to store it? What i means is do i need to separate the lens and camera for store in cupboard?

Added on January 27, 2012, 9:38 pmCan i use lenspen to clean my mirror inside the camera? I saw a single dust in it but dunno can use lenspen to clean or not...><
*
Use a blower, raise the mirror then blow. Don't use lenspen, unless its the one designed for sensor.

bokeh is boring,
just get the wide angle, wide angle is fun  brows.gif

But most clients love bokeh, I find those who aren't into photography goes for bokeh instead of wide angle type of images...

if AF speed is not an issue, then the tamron would do nice, thing about the 85 1.8g is that there isn't any real life feedback test on it, so its kinda gamble if you get it first hand, abathen, since its the 2nd gen 1.8, it will prob be as good if not better than its predecessor
*
I will still go for 85mm f/1.8, bigger aperture, does not extend like the tamron. But it can't macro.

Yay, just got back my 16-85mm from repair. The zoom was a bit sticky from 70-85mm. I sent it to nikon center in BTS last Xmas.
Got charged RM432 for the repair. In the receipt it says they replaced 2nd ring and the relay FPC. No idea what are those.
Really glad now it worked wonder! Feels like new ..hehe.
*I lost my purchase receipt! LOL. sad.gif
I just got my self a tamron sp90 about a month now. though it is pretty sharp for macro and portraits, it is less practicle for portraits. Once in a while use ok lah.
This is because the AF speed is not as fast as AF-S or other motor lenses. Plus, there's no VR (if u care). Agree with celciuz, the lens extends a lot!
I use it for macro mostly as it is pretty sharp and can get really close. A macro beginner here. smile.gif
*
SP90 is a good choice for macro, but for portrait have to deal with the f/2.8, slow AF. The 85mm f/1.8G however is a f/1.8 and also a AF-S. Should be better for portrait, but of course not a macro lens like what the SP90 can do.

Mainly because point and shoots can't do much bokeh like the larger sensors tongue.gif

You will be surprised how some simple bokeh shots somehow get more FB likes than another lesser bokeh counterpart that you have cooked the photo to perfection.
*
Depends on how 'cooked' the image is, not many peep I have seen able to 'cook to perfection'. Unless you're one of those sifu la.

Thanks for the detailed explained smile.gif but I don't trust on second hand thing =[ what to check when buying second hand lens =[
Thanks,if budget allow,I will go for the 70-300,if not then will stick on 55-300,not a really bad choice right? sad.gif

Thanks. But worry on second hand lens got problem sad.gif

Anyway guys,I'm new on DSLR,when i practice,I keep capture many fail pictures and shutter count going high.I did cpature many pictures in one day,I scared of shutter failure because I heard the lifespan of the DSLR shutter around 100k,so how do i practice and get used with the dslr? sad.gif
*
Don't worry, its pretty normal for you to shoot a lot in the beginning. As time goes by, you become more experienced (tend to compose better and watch out for more stuffs) and also more confident in your shots. Back then when I was a newbie I usually have like 2-3 shots of the exact same pic then I select during PP.

Yeah... I saw the other time Cathay has good deals for the TT1 and TT5. How much for your configuration? 2x TT5 and 1 TT1 + AC3?

My setup is similar to yours, except I'm using 3x TT5 instead... TT1 batt very hard to hunt here.

TT1 sgd295
TT5 25% discount : sgd240 x 2
AC3 sgd80

total : sgd855
very nice price.
wanted to get radio popper but too bad they don't ship to SG, and the price is quite high  doh.gif
*
Good price! My FlexTT5 x3 + AC3 would cost about SGD910 (converted). But aiya for the warranty I think I'll just pay the differences :S. I remember back then RP don't ship outside USA due to the radio frequency regulations thingy.

QUOTE(hidden830726 @ Jan 29 2012, 08:43 AM)
Do u rather pay RM2450 for a third hand copy of 105mm 2.8g, no more warranty

or

RM3100 for new copy?
*
When it's used, nobody really cares if its 2nd hand, 3rd hand, 4th hand.

But hey, look at the item condition and decide. If it looks new, yes. Older units are made in Japan, newer ones are made in China.

yea as celciuz said doesn't matter how many hand as long as its in good cond and nice price, why not ? brows.gif

if you keep it good you can sell at same price too
*
That's right, as long you are not buying new all used items are still used items. 2nd or 3rd or 4th hand is still used item. If buy 2nd hand, you sell to another person also should be similar priced unless more wear and tear by then.

Agreed. If you're using D3000, its definitely the G. You can't AF with D and doing manual focus only is going to be troublesome.
