this is canon one wide open on 7D

i used to have a canon 24f1.4mk2 before.
both are quire similar, nikkor one af more accurate.
btw, it's such a waste to use this great lens on a cropped body.

This one you have no control over the humidity, and the hygrometer is analog type, it's less accurate and requires calibration once in a while.

Here's something interesting to ponder, I have a digital hygrometer which is also not 100% similar reading with the AIPO drybox, but close enough, around+-5; I tried putting the hygrometer in my camera bag and in my cupboard, the humidity level is actually around 40~45, the digital hygrometer has record for max and min humidity.
Oh, if your room is air-conditioned, the humidity level in the room will drop when the air-cond is running.

What you need to worry more is the condensation, when you move from cold room to a warm room, the sudden change in temperature, if you operate the camera immediately, you will notice condensation at the front of your lens. So, for those staying in high rise building, you can experience this especially during a cold night and you try to take some landscape photo from your balcony, etc.

it's a start, start small, coz you'll never know if you gonna give up on this hobby.
unless you plan on going on seriously on this hobby, then suggest you jump to get the digital ones that can hold 3-4 lens, body, flash and accessories. it maybe an overkill for now, but believe me, you may outgrow the small analog box in no time, plus the fact you need to regulate the anolog box every week or so, the digital ones make it so much hassle free

Not bad. Could have been better if the 'whites' in the eyes is reduced a little.

rattling sound just after focusing means that the VR system is engaged, rattling during focusing, i.e when the lens is moving back and forth means something is kaputs inside......but rattling of the VR shouldn't that loud, loudest i heard is from the 105mm VR due to the large SWM motor inside i guess

i think my lens has a problem inside it after the incident and sometimes the lens cannot focus.. the rattling sound keeps going on and no focusing is done.. i'll look forward to send to the nikon centre.. by the way, do i have to fill in all the details in my warranty card since its not yet expired before sending to them ?

What's the recomended FL for portrait, group photos for DX cameras?
I'm undecided between 85mm f1.8D and 50mm f1.4G

I would basically be taking pix from about 10 feet/3m or so

any advise?

Portraiture length for FX is 85mm ~ 135mm. Do the maths for DX.

For group photo, it depends on the number and what "kind" of group photos to be produced, I personally prefer 50mm on FX but that would be half-body only.
