if u have r3e just stick to sata 2 ssd. unless u have r3black then its ok coz it has better sata3 controller.

i bought the ssd .... never do much study on it so i dont know the controller issue biggrin.gif
but still i am happy with the performance nod.gif , just thinking is there anyway to max it out
a sata 3 ssd without the best controller still works much more better than a sata 2 ssd although its wasted cry.gif

is there anyway for me to get a pci sata card to max out my crucial m4 read speed ? (my rampage iii extreme only comes with 2xmarvell 6gb port which cant max out and the performance is suck when i plug into intel 3gb port ) I dont want to change mobo ~

Getting a dedicated SATA card especially supporting SATA III is very expensive, as they are normally RAID cards with/without cache. Yes, there are cheapos out there, but all of them are using PCIe x1 interface, which itself already bottlenecks the SATA III bandwidth. These SATA cards are normally used for connecting hard disk.

You would be better off using the Marvel chipset first or changing the motherboard.

The price looks quite expensive comparing to a new motherboard. However, I have no enough money to do another purchase unless i sell my mobo LOL!
Guess i have no choice that i will either need to use it on low speed or buy a new mobo.

This kind of performance optimisation should really be done only if you have spare cash to burn or if you have an exceptional reason to do so. Compared to the feeling of owning your first SSD, this kind of upgrade will disappoint because you won't feel your computer getting twice as fast. It is really not worth staying on the brink of bankruptcy for.

Just uninstalled Intel® RST 11.5.0.1149 driver as per my post #1101.
Tried also 11.1.0.1006 (not good) and found the best one atm...Intel® RST 11.0.0.1032. biggrin.gif

Hi to all siffus here,
I want to upgrade my rig to an ssd and also the mobo.
I think I want to buy the 128gb crucial m4.
I have made my research that the mobo must have intel sata3 controller to maximize the ssd.
Does the Asus P8Z77-M have the intel sata3 controller?
I search at the asus website, but cannot find it.

Oh thanks.
Just for confirmation,
if it state like this 'Supports Intel® Smart Response Technology, Intel® Rapid Start Technology, Intel® Smart Connect Technology' so it means it use Intel controller?
Want to compare with asrock mobo.

Could be new pkg. I've never seen pkg like this before so need CyntrixTech to clarify.

Don't worry. If you refer to my previous post I did post the picture of the new packaging from Crucial. And mine was bought directly from Crucial themselves. biggrin.gif
