Dang, you are easy to sway.

Bro, I've been in Sg for 20 years lah. Kids also growing up. You think the kids or me will have more opportunities in Malaysia? I am working with more than $10Ksgd income here. Which freaking company in Malaysia will hire me? I am even paid better than Jibby. lol. BTW, there's a loop hole in HDB where if your employer is good enuf to lower the salary less than $10K, you will be eligible for HDB-BTO. 12K below is for EC and DBSS.

What is your thought like? How many years you have been working in Sg? Can you share your concerns? It is good for readers to judge for themselves to see which country is greener for them. wink.gif

For those looking for job in Sg, please be patient coz you are also competing with the locals AND Indians, Indonesian Chinese, Pinoys and Chinese from China. So, it is very competitive. You have to move in very low and then move up from there. Can't afford to be picky. Hope this helps.

Ha.....u richer than jibby hor..... rclxms.gif

Yes, for those who wants to look for job in spore, better come in and camp here as we have logistical advantge compare to those China, Indian, Pinoys etc as our cost to come down here is cheaper than them. some worry that by using malaysia address or malaysia phone number, they cannot get reply from prospective employer, what do those (china, indian, pinoy, vietnamese, etc) think when they applying same position from their own countries? If they can come in apply and wait for the job, we are so nearby cannot take the advantage, then, how are we going to win when competing with them? If malaysia address is already so susah, then an address in Hubei or JiangSi, how??? tongue.gif

You can try Netstar, NCS, AT&T, CSC, NCR to name a few.  Look out especially for NCS website or the job board as I know they always hire tons of Network Engineers.  Funny and interesting things happens when you look for jobs.

Very nice info there. I will start looking in these websites tonight. I think i have reached the limit of looking network position in those job search website. ( Actually not much after filtering out, and this time i don't want just blindly sent all resume to all network related job position as I have specified career goals to achieve. )
By the way, it seems tough to get the job in CSC, all they want is Singapore PR or Citizen. sweat.gif

principal company - cisco, juniper, riverbed, bluecoat, f5, IBM, HP
system integrator - dimension data (datacraft), NCS, fujitsu, 3d networks, netstar, NEC
telco - BT, orange, verizon, AT&T
end user - many...

I found out that those company that hired network professionals are mainly dealing with end user. I overheard with my frens who are working in Singapore that dealing end user in Singapore ain't easy at all. ( Maybe attitude problem ). But anyhow I will start looking from system integrator and telco. Kudos for u thumbup.gif

Not to be harsh, but 4 send ins and you expect a reply?
I think you are overestimating yourself or underestimating the process of getting a job.
Even if you are applying for a job locally, 4 applications does not necessary warrant you an interview.
Patience is needed in job seeking.
That is why, ppl are recommended to start sending in applications on their final sem.
Anyway, just keep sending and good luck (yeah, you actually need some luck in landing an interview).

but i got a replies from every company i applied locally laugh.gif that is why i wanted to know how ppl apply..

for the first time, i agree with you...but only the bolded part.
move in very low...this is as if u are trying to destroy your own market.
why would anyone want to destroy their own market?

Bro,

In SG there is no minimum sum salary lah. How?
In my company the programmers paid between 1500sgd-3000sgd.
Poject Managers paid from 3000-6000sgd.

So, if you want the job and competing with others which can be much more hardworking and efficient than you. What would you do? Wait ka?? Tan kuku ka? icon_idea.gif

BTW, can share your experience in SG? You worked there I believe? What I am doing is to encourage kids to come and have a good life. In the mean time, since they are young, let them do some job and keep busy and gain the experience they can so that they can be future high flyers. What is your aim or agenda? Anything against sg or low salary people? or Is your position being threatened? wink.gif rclxub.gif

btw, the salary less than 10K is only temporary for 3 months. So, as long as you are below 10K salary and show your CPF for 3 months, you are approved. On the 4th month, you can go back to your normal pay. This is what the locals have been doing la.. U sure u worked here before? hmm.gif

Hi guys, I can see that there many experienced M'sians working in Sg hanging out in this thread. I hope someone can advise me with this situation:

I have been offered a job and in the process of EP application from the MOM. However, the company is eager to have me start work earlier. So they have asked if I could join them under the pretense of freelance/consultation work (software field). Will this bring any legal implication because I don't have a work permit yet? Is it allowed to offer freelance service as a foreigner without a work permit?

Thanks.

i dont know how many times u need to stress and post that you earn how much, or so and so in your company. nobody needs to know that.

what's wrong with not agreeing that one cant afford to have a choice in selecting jobs in singapore.
it's not absolute that one has to swallow an underpaid job if they want a job in singapore. everyone have a choice.

it's natural that anyone would wanna fetch their expected salary in their own field of job.
i dont see your point here.

Same.
When I was applying, my phone and email kept getting "harassed" by local firms.
This is because we "open" our CV to all employers.
So they try to tempt you to join them.

Then do your own research to find out your range with your experience and skill set.
You are advising everyone to go low without doing your own research.
For example, if 1 has 3 years experience can command say 3+ or 4k.
You want them to go low...as in fight with fresh grad with just 2+ or even worse, 1.5?
So if everyone goes that way....what do you think will happen to your market?
It will become the norm that 3 years exp will command only 2+ instead of the 3+ or 4.
Trust me...I had that kind of suggestion before from HR.
I am just advising to demand for what you are worth...at most just go slightly lower.
if the company wants u...why would u want to put urself in disadvantaged position.
Do not be picky on the company and job scope.
Companies will change, if you can't go in at this stage...try again later at another stage (with a better base)
Job scope will always change...this is a fact....so during interview or application jd, you may be amazed by what they say you will be doing but when you go in, it may be another thing.
I have no issues if u wish to go devalue yourself...employers will love it definitely.
but just take this into consideration - whenever you get promoted or jump to another company...your current pay MAY impact your future pay as they might only allow by percentage.
I repeat...it is MAY...I have this experience before back in m'sia. So I am just giving ppl the heads up.
if you feel offended by that....ignore me.

I have no obligation to share all my experience like you wish to which personally, i find it quite annoying.
i give advise based on what i think...you give on what you think...readers choose which they want to accept or apply for their own choices.

PS: please quote properly.

i finally understood where this came from due to ur "quoting" style
so u reduce your salary for 3 months to show u have a below 10k salary?
please be more specific.
this only works if u use the combined salary.
if single citizen scheme, for example say you (but from your postings, i doubt that is what you earn)...how much would u want your company to reduce your salary.
last i checked, 5k, 10k and even 100k pays the SAME amt for CPF.

I have skimmed through the type of passes in MOM website, and it seems, any form of work/activities that is to be carried out in the duration of stay in Sg will require at least a "Miscellaneous Work Pass" or "Work Pass Exempt Activities" by submitting an e-Notification to inform MOM. I think it's best to clarify this with the company. Sounds very risky even for short-term tongue.gif

Bro,
Maybe you missed my point. I am happy with anyone who can get the amount of money they want. I am absolutely happy with it.

I am implying to those who are desparate and has been waiting for a long long time. Tak ada masa tunggu la kawan... wink.gif

In cantonese, oi lei jau fai sau.. (mau mari cepat tangan la)...

Please do not put the word into my mouth that I force you to low wages hor. You think I so free is it? lmao... Of course the saying goes that if you have a good qualification, good experience, competent and can wait, might as well ask for market or above market rate. I totally agree with this. Why so bodoh to take low wage? wink.gif

For the girl.
good for employer cause they pay less.
bad for u because u get less.
so good for who?

I was replying to this that it is only a 'temporary' measure wor.. I do not mean to berlagak la... Sorry if I you felt I did.

My aim is to help out anyone who 'wanted to come'. I couldn't bother to people who are already working here because they should know the good and the bad already. Having working here I believe I see more bad things which I believe many of you will fall trap to 'one fine day'. So, just jaga jaga. It can be painful, coz I kena already (not running against the law hor, just some discriminatory policy towards 'non citizen').. suspense rite...

yes...i definitely missed your point entirely cause u nvr mentioned it at all.
but instead, u kept harping abt u earning 10k, asking ppl to go low and also the idea of discriminating low income earners.
So yea...I definitely did not get your point there.
definite desperate.
if one is able to dive low...that will mean he is most likely not having any commitments.
so if he has no commitments, what desperation is there?
desperation/cannot wait to live life on the highway?
