Japanese are known for their kamikaze principle and willing to die for their nation. Japan has recovered fast from the tsunami tragedy and I always admire their strong spirit.
If a strong tsunami hits Singapore, that's it...habis. Singapore will be wiped off from the world map and their people will start to kneel down begging for international aid from other nations and there will be influx of singaporeans entering Johor. Johor oso hit by flood 4 years ago but things have gone back to normal.

Ok guys thank you for all your input to my questions but not enough. I need more input for my dissertation, thanks in advance anyway. I am collecting info from various sources and LYN is one of the source. Hope more comments will come in tomorrow. Thanks.

if singapore hit by tsunami...may be it is time the malaysians will come in to help and probably that time only they will realise they still have a good brother from the neighbor can help..... biggrin.gif

but land remains an issue. indo and malaysia stopped selling sands to singapore for obvious reason. from which country singapore gets the supplies for land reclamation? tengah and bidadari are potential sites for future new town development after punggol and that's that. are there any empty lands left for new town development? how sustainable singapore is to accomodate ever increasing numbers of population considering the scarcity of land, unless indo is willing to sell batam island to singapore.
*
singapore is getting sand from cambodia, vietnam, philipines, myanmar, malaysia and indonesia......however, there are many free sands from australia, saudi, africa if singapore can figure a way to get it.....their desert full of sand... tongue.gif

i agree with this as well. just follow Malaysia's rate. it won't affect me also since bike still free smile.gif

Dont talk so loud, once they implemented and they didnt collect enough $$$ and they see the big potential from the big group of bike riders commuting daily in and out, wont you worry this bunch of blood suckers will not collect from bikers later on.....the best is to stop them from doing so, so it will not spread later.... biggrin.gif

but still to encourage higher birth rates, the gomen needs to encourage cheaper cars.

do you expect to bring their 2-3 year old kids out by traveling using MRT or by flagging a cab?

this is why MPV is gainning popularity in SG... so many Wish & Streams...
*
actualy flagging a cab is better as you no need to look for car park which is always full during peak hours. But, the problem is sometimes, it is difficult to get a cab. Not enough cab in town? may be.

what is wrong with bringing out 2-3 yo kids by travelling on public transport?
yes, it would be a lot more of a hassle then if one owns a car but it does seem fine to me.
so after they grow up, u sell the car or still keep it?
if u keep it and everyone does the same, then the number of cars will keep on increasing and you get even worse jams on the road then ppl start complaining again.
the land in sg is VERY limited, if the number of vehicles increases without limitations, that will be an even bigger problem.
*
Not only that, with the increasing of cars, later to find a car park also susah....the sheltered car park lot that i am parking now is quite full and if more cars add into the system, very soon, everyone needs to go back early to fight for a parking space. Sometimes, feel very frustrated as after paying the season parking for a sheltered parking lot, most of the time need to park at the top floor open car park and very troublesome when raining. shakehead.gif

Here are two of the many news I read through the last few days....
http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/litee/m...h-causeway-toll
http://www.todayonline.com/Hotnews/EDC1112...ackles-in-Johor
From my rough guess and based on previous LDP hike experience, it will be RM6.20 one way the lowest and worst case scenario RM6.20 each way along with the RM2.90 toll right now.
*
That was what i read also, my puzzle is the "EDL" as what was reported that you will be charged whether you use or not use the EDL. I cant really comprehend what they mean.

The full fare will be rm9.10 per way. Then, myself will be affect max rm9.10 per week as i normally use 2nd link to go out from Singapore and sometimes use the woodland to enter as free entrance. Pity those who commute daily as RM18.20 per day extra but in terms of sgd dollars, not that much also but still is money and going into MRCB pocket and later channel into all the BN cronies pocket.

Hopefully that will be the worst case scenario.  EDL stretch from Pandan to before Singapore checkpoint.  Since the Toll will be charged at the point when we show our passport in Malaysia checkpoint, we will not be able to avoid it though we did not use EDL at all.  That's what they meant you will be charged irregardless if you are using it or not.
*
Oh....like that, which means i will pay for something that i not going to use it lor....sigh....%&%&*%^$$%#%#$#.

hmm.gif may be have to detour to Pandan and take the EDL before enter Singapore to justify the toll charges.... laugh.gif

^ depends on your job nature, and lifestyle. If it's just transit back and forth workplace for 5 days a week, it can be as little as SGD80 a month.

Single common room fully furnished and utilities included, no cooking allowed -- I don't cook anyway.
I was looking for place with no pets, no smoker few months back: I was having a hard time as a single guy back then lol. Most of the place prefered female or couple.
*
haha, u can bring another male friend as your partner or couple... tongue.gif or alternatively,

u ask one of your female colleague to act as your partner and rent the room but she never come back to stay....

*
So, what is all this implies???? She changes car only and many people are doing it also even one of my friend who draw salary about 5k also change car every 3-4 years.....but he is quite broke most of the time and dont have much savings, but when come to changing new car, he doesnt even blink his eyes....all this got loan to take care and your friends mum may be can get interest free loan as she works with Maybank....

Not so sure since HR is processing the course for me since i'm taking it next year. Since with the new requirement taking effect soon, we need inhouse hazmat experts to be complaint with GL and DNV's new requirements on proper disposal and management of hazardous waste or materials present onboard the rigs. and i got the short end of the stick.
*
So, you are with GL?? Malaysia or Singapore??

Must be specific, i can buy 2 low cost apartment every year in cash.....or buy a bungalow in sentosa every year in cash....this makes whole lot of difference... tongue.gif

*
Many said they not able to check. But do you really sure they cant check??? In my opinion, it is the question whether they want to check or not. If the govt want to check, i guess it is not hard to find out some, may be not all. May be many will tip off to the govt if they launch a tip-off programme which for every success of a tip-off, there will be a reward of SGD 100k or 15% of the HDB price.... tongue.gif

Unless you buy properties with cash, they can simply pull ur financial record and they will know.
That is why, they give you 6 months to sell off....that also you need to show them proof of sale.
*
True, with Malaysia Bank Negara, just simply print the CCRIS report, you will be able to see any properties still under loan. For those properties bought by cash or finished installment, may be land office have the data????? In other countries, may be they also have similar data or records.....

Depends on company / sector? It's still pretty common in the big banks here to encash the 16% for nonPR/SC's.
*
Yes, few years ago, my friend in one of the big4 got the CPF paid in cash by the company as he just an EP holder, but after he got his PR, he rclxub.gif as a big chunk of his salary has been deducted to be paid into CPF. Whatever cash he recieved prior to getting the PR, he has to put in back into the CPF. He is about 2 months without salary...
