its a hub... there's the customs check point for cars, bikes and buses as well as for trains... there's a mrt station too... and starbucks, northern area of singapore...
*
Erm...the train hub does not have an MRT station yet.
You can take buses to mrt, I suppose the nearest is Marsiling (not sure about the other direction) laugh.gif laugh.gif .
I heard that it will be moved to near Causeway Point (woodlands MRT) which is has ongoing renovation.

Hello to All senior working in SG.

Just wanted to ask about some internet connection problem,  I sign up a phone package smartsurf 300 with 12gb monthly data plan. But one of the things make me very confuse is what mean by [Unlimited @ $30/mth (No Bill Shock) ] for their data plan isn't they mean I only can exceed the internet usage for SGD30, and after I reach the limit they will disconnect me? Coz i planning not to sign another contract for additional broadband for my laptop, if after 30sgd I still can continue using internet they I will just need to pay another 30 per month, rather that sign another contract to lock myself 2 years.

Thank you.
*
it means after u finish ur 12GB of data you will be charged for the amt extra u use but it is capped at 30SGD.
So if your plan is SGD58, the max you will be paying is 58+30 (-corporate plan+hidden charges) +7% GST.

+65 is it a hand phone line? the 02 is local line?

if i wan to call local line how using hand phone? need "+"?
*
I use +65 for land line too.
So I still do not know where the 02 comes from. laugh.gif laugh.gif
Handphones numbers I noticed are 8xxx xxxx or 9xxx xxxx while land lines are 6xxx xxxx
To make a call from m'sia, just press +65 followed by the 8 digit number was what I did.

Not necessary.
Best to ask the counter when you buy tix.
Some have a final stop at diff places....some has extra stops....some get off at immigration (I get off at woodlands laugh.gif laugh.gif )

Erm, what I want to ask if, if I exceed the limit and reach the SGD30 dollar cap, can I still continue connect to internet? For example sgd 30 is for 800mb data, but what I wan is more that 800mb exceed, so can I still connect to internet if I using the data more that the cap 30 limit can give me (800mb). Or I will enjoy unlimited access when I pay the 30sgd.  Hope U can understand what I try to say.
*
Yes you can still connect...that is why it is called the "No bill shock".
Unless you go dl movies/series, 12GB is not that easy to exceed. laugh.gif laugh.gif

This is not a good way... U need to how to invest too... perhaps in shares to achieve that $100K faster.

Having said that, $100K (RM240K) is not much nowadays compare to property prices. A decent house in KL nowadays around RM600K or in SG is approx $350K for a family of 4 to live comfortably.

Try to target $200K in 3 years (approx $5.5K savings a month). U can achieve this amount if your company pays you about 4-6 mths bonus a year + u know some tricks...
*
you MAY also lose the 100k faster.

Assumed 100k is what you need to pay for the downpayment of your selected HDB in 3 years time;

to buy HDB you need 2 person, so split 50% 50% each person only need to save 50K in 3 years or $1389/month for the next 3 years.
Part of the downpayment can be deducted from CPF so your CPF count too, so saving $1k cash/month for 3 years should be enough for the down payment. Monthly installment is by CPF, can split 50,50 among the couple so your cash flow will be better after you move in to your HDB and stop paying rent.

Some couple use up all their money to buy HDB but still want to "show off" their new home by signing up renovation, buying furniture on credit term beyond what they can afford.. end up with card debt. No pity on them.

Good luck for those who bought the HDB during the high time not too long ago, the price is just too unrealistic and it will come down in coming years. Save your money now and wait for the right time. I bought mine at the end of economy downturn, paying much less from those who bought it before the down turn.

never believe what the agent say about the HDB price will go up forever.
*
Hehe...good advise for me.
Just curious, property prices are highest during bad economy?

cheap la in penang.. 1 meal only costs you 3-4 ringgit.
*
take this from a penangnite.
comparing food in penang and singapore, singapore wins by being cheaper dollar to dollar.
food portion is more here.
i can order a bowl of curry chicken rice for $4.5 and share with my wife and we both get full.
in penang...i hardly get full from 1 serving.
that is just comparing hawker food.
u up the standard by going to high class hotels for buffets, singapore is still cheaper.
the only food you can get cheaper in terms of price (dollar to dollar) is seafood restaurants.

I am thinking either u have not been to penang for a long time or you are being pure ignorant.

At least their parents don't ask u for money right? Moreover, she can help u to work and share the expenses unless u are living at Australia when gov pays the housewife AUD 800/month
*
wtf is this shyt?
so "kampung" girl parents will only know how to ask money from u?
"kampung" girl does not know how to work?

Where abouts in Woodlands do you stop? it is next to the Woodlands MRT? I work at Sembawang...so Woodlands is only a MRT ride for me. BTW, what coach company that you use?
*
Nope.
I go down at singapore side of the immigration.
There are public buses there to bring u to mrt (kranji, marsiling, woodlands...some further, not sure where) laugh.gif laugh.gif
But since u are going sembawang, 950 is the way since it passes marsiling and ends up at woodlands.
Erm...it has been a long time since i took a coach. sweat.gif sweat.gif

Agreed on the Penang food portion size. Price don't increase that much but kns, all the food is kids portion nowadays, hokkien mee or ckt, 3-4 mouthfuls finish liao.

But errrrr $4.50 for curry chicken that can feed 2 ppl? where can you find such thing? even the food court at my hdb basement i need to spent at least $8-$10 to feed 2 ppl satisfactorily.
My colleagues went during lunch hour last week and said the HP booth had the most attractive & good "stuff." icon_idea.gif
*
The food court at 888 woodlands. laugh.gif laugh.gif
maybe getting older kills my appetite also.
but back in penang, i still can't get full with 1 serving. laugh.gif laugh.gif

Kampung girls these days are different man. They are as materialistic as city girls if not more so. These days i go kampung and i see young girls with LV bag and prada shoes. Further they are also all looking for that rich guy to marry and want to live the tai-tai lifestyle like they see on TV. Blame it on the media unsure.gif

people are who we perceived them to be.
if by default we have categorized them to be like that...then they are more likely to be that way, especially if we come across just one example (out of the countless number which we are most likely not going to remember as it will not be a lasting image) which will reassure us even more that what we perceived is true.
if we widen our view and clear off the biased perceptions, we will get to meet a lot more people and have a lot more fun when we discover the other side of them

but still to encourage higher birth rates, the gomen needs to encourage cheaper cars.

do you expect to bring their 2-3 year old kids out by traveling using MRT or by flagging a cab?

this is why MPV is gainning popularity in SG... so many Wish & Streams...
*
what is wrong with bringing out 2-3 yo kids by travelling on public transport?
yes, it would be a lot more of a hassle then if one owns a car but it does seem fine to me.
so after they grow up, u sell the car or still keep it?
if u keep it and everyone does the same, then the number of cars will keep on increasing and you get even worse jams on the road then ppl start complaining again.
the land in sg is VERY limited, if the number of vehicles increases without limitations, that will be an even bigger problem.

I understand few does so... but still car represents status to them in SG.
*
erm...why not?
anyway, the number of CEO, bosses, FC, MD, GM are way less than employees.
i doubt there is any company where there is a different case where bosses > employees...except for home business. laugh.gif laugh.gif

HiHi,

I recently get an interview opportunity.

Just a question if I working at  Kaki Bukit Technopark and it require work on shift.

1)which is the best suitable location for me to stay?

2)Since I need work on shift then i might need walk from my home(rent room) to Technopark.

3) Since I work on shift is it very difficult for me rent a room? (normally not convenient for house owner)

4)How much should I demand?,  (I am degree holder and with 6 years + work in IT line). They offer me L3/L4 position

5)They offer me 24 month renewable contract, I had passed the technical interview and will interview by hiring manager this Friday.

Any one here work in technopark and work in shift?

My Malaysia basic Salary is around 4.5k++
*
If my memory serves me correct, Kaki Bukit Technopark a bit secluded. laugh.gif laugh.gif
I might recommend buying a bicycle.
Area to stay should be around Eunos and Bedok.
Again, if my memory serves me correctly that is.

I was at Ang Mo Kio.
No issues going Woodlands/Jurong direction yesterday.
Train was completely empty.
There was announcement that no train service from Braddell to Marina.
Later last night saw the news, train fault between Bishan and Bradell.
Passengers had to walk thru the tunnel to "evacuate". sweat.gif sweat.gif
