If u do business development, MBA definitely better than CIMA or PMP.
CIMA and PMP is more towards practical/technical kinda skills, whereas MBA teaches u "how to bullshit" to be blunt. ALso MBA it's a networking opportunity within ur MBA tenure.  Im guessing BD means u nid to look for new business area (similar to marketing). Hence CIMA or PMP would bring u as much benefits as MBA.

DBS/POSB (same company) = long que but more atm
UOB/OCBC= less atm but shorter que.

I suggest UOB/OCBC

Just passed by dbs, queue really long lol.
If less atm but u cant withdraw at other bank atm?
Need to pay xtra fees?

Hi, just wondering if anybody here has any thoughts about taking up Singapore PR if you have a son? I'm ok with the NS part and so is my son.  But my wife is quite against NS.  Her colleagues keep telling her horror stories about accidents in NS.  What other pros and cons is there about taking up PR?

pros:
not tied to work permit so even if you're downsized you don't need to leave the country
can buy hdb (non PR can only buy private)

cons:
have to buy CPF
NS for children

I'm actually quite pro-NS for kids,.. especially for ethnic-Chinese kids in this region. There is absolutely no harm in more Chinese kids learning how to shoot and kill non-Chinese kids. They will need to do it, sooner or later... or else all sorts of May13 and May,1998 will occur and they will be told it's their fault for not following the "social contract".

u can open acc in dbs with $500. with IPA also can already (for my case)
have your job offer letter with you, you tell them you're opening that account for salary to be credited into that account then you dont need the $500.
this is what i did, i don't know if some branches might be more strict.

you can try this.
when u go for ur appointment to process your EP / collect your EP card (IF you are on EP)...not sure IPA can or not, I opened with my card.
walk to peninsular plaza.
there is a POSB there.
How to go Peninsula Plaza from EPSC
they will not ask u to produce the money at the counter.
they will request u to use the CDM instead.
if u dun have that much cash, at least deposit > S$2
so in case they fine u....u still have money and ur account won't be deactivated.
that was what the bank officer told me when I opened my account there.

also,

pros : cheaper school fees, public library fees
higher chance of getting a job (many jobs are only opened to citizens and PRs)
your employer will have to pay CPF which you can use to fund your HDB

I think what he means is that Singapore NS is actually worthwhile? I'm too old to know about Malaysia NS, but my sister (cainis, obviously) went and she came back happy and described it as a "3 month holiday camp." Get paid some more.

TS company might already be encashing the employer portion. Cash in pocket > Cash paid to CPF tongue.gif

It's more like camp for making youngster feeling dumber and weaker. Eat 6 times daily (what i heard previously) and sit in class all day.

I was told nid to pay extra, not sure how much. But not all banks can. meaning it depends whether there are partnership between the bank or not. for e.g. UOB card cannot withdraw from DBS atm. It is not as convinient as in Malaysia, where with meps u can withdraw any atm.

When I only had my In-principle approval letter, I opened my POSB savings account with SGD500 and my Malaysian IC. I think they needed to see my passport and the letter as well.
