wat should i pay attention or check?

FTTH or VDSL?
Anyway, you need a 4-socket extension for all the devices. Plan clearly how they're going to lay the cables and remember to get the slip after they complete the installation

It's not that easy to crack. At least I'm not that free to crack them. I check device connected to the router through wifi from time to time. If anything wrong, unknown device connected, I reset everything and set a new password nod.gif I don't think the very same fellow will keep trying on the very same network everytime I change wifi password. I think...

He will not "try" anything. Its not like he will take a pen and paper and solve an equation to crack it. He will use a readily available app and just click "Hack IwanAGP's wireless Stealz hiz unifiz"
If he got in the first time better check the settings.
WPA2 AES. NOT mixed! Just allow WPA2 AES authentication and nothing else.

yep thats the scary thing. It actually exploits your Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) by bombing it and eventually your WPS will cave in and release your password.

DIR-615 with firmware 4 only requires 1hr and 45 minute. Go here for the full hardware list

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/lv?key=...rowsperpage=250

This weekend will try to setup my old notebook n try to see how long does it needs to crack it. The latest firmware hides the disable WPS i think. Couldn't find it.

"Your window is Window XP so canot connect to your new Unifi Wifi..must use Window7" - Heard this statement from Unifi person who install unifi services at my relatives house.

Wonder can Unifi personal be trusted or not.

Then I ask them to use Lan cable connection..he say RM0.70/meter..after calculate it's RM50..I was in office or else I'll blast him out.

Take it easy there boss.
Do you want them to hire people with C.S degree to go around installing routers? Just offer the guy some drink next time and let him install the stuff and go. They are not required to cable to your computer either. You do your config/cabling.

Anyway... I can still do hard reset. That's what the hacker can't stop me from. Or possibly just hide the network.

LOL, I guess they are not trained in WinXP. Best thing to say when you dunno something? "Cannot be done"

The 2 young techs who came for my UniFi install were quite ok though. Even talk about bittorrent and downloading warez and movies. Even use my Mac to setup the BTU and router. I still remember a few years ago when TM techs will all freeze up when they see or hear a Mac.

Don't be surprised that some of the UniFi installers are degree holders. Though not necessarily in CS. On a side note, all the techs at my wife's company are degree holders, CS & Eng, and they do go around installing routers too.

Yeah, it works. A few days ago I posted my neighbor's uptime in this post.

No one asked but it was thanks to Reaver and default UniFi router passwords.

That's bad. What area is this? Mine is OK in Sg Long, Kajang.

The last few days, speeds were down intermittently especially during 12a-3a timeframe.

It's my relatives PC. I'm not there so I help them thru phone. If we can't use the internet, that's our problem? But they even ask that he can connect using Lan cable so that's part of their scope of work.. CS degree? I don't think so. just a certificate IT can do that.

Totally not logical at all. So my phone also must be Window7..my MAC also must in Window7.

There's always a help line for them..they got colleagues to ask rather than saying window XP canot connect at all.

One word: "lazy"

Say "cannot be done", kautim.

Say "can but I'll need to call for help" = a lot more effort and time used for the same pay and possibly miss the next installation and associated commission.

See, even typing that takes more effort. LOL.

But people always complain of high prices. Look at it from the other side, if you are a degree or "IT certificate" holder, how much do you think TM should pay you to go around installing routers? 1.5k? 2k?
And if TM outsources the whole thing to an outside contractor because it tries to minimize costs after endless customer complaints, and you happen to work for the contractor, how much do you expect as a salary?
Be realistic people.

I wouldn't be surprised if they are young fresh graduates and just starting up, like the ones that installed my own Unifi. In that case its perfectly logical to work for a company like TM to gain experience, its the first step in the journey.

The people in your wifes company with the degrees, how much is their pay? I think all people would install routers or even clean schools if the pay is right. smile.gif

Hiding SSID is the best method for me.
Offcourse the best method is to only allow MAC address that is approved to access the WiFi network. However, this method is a lot more complicated then hiding the SSID.

I've been using Streamyx for 5 years before I move to UNiFi for almost a year now.
And I've never put any encryption on my WiFi and the WiFi SSiD is still the same for this 6 years.

I just hid my SSID then when any of my friends or relatives came over to my house and wanted to access my WiFi, I just have to tell them my SSID, that's all.

Believe it or not, through all this 6 years the only devices that connected to my WiFi is the devices that belongs to me, my friends & my relatives.
This is why I pick hidden SSID without encryption. Without encryption, I don't have to remember the password and the WiFi is still working at the speed of Wireless N. biggrin.gif
