I did it at Penang, Jelutong. The officer in charge of the cards allow the worker to try..so we just try and it works.

I told them the main point is to get Mastercard..so I dun mind if I register current account. I will be buying stuff anyway..its not going to be a savings account so I dun care the interest laugh.gif
Then I told them that if I must register current account, I dun wan use cheque..coz my main purpose it Mastercard Debit Card.

I guess they understood what I really want..so they just tried associating the Platinum Cherry with my Savings Account. Anyways, since both cards are the same and its just the name Platinum to indicate that you're having a Premier account, nothing should go wrong. Its just the damn name laugh.gif

I asked the officer..she said that for debit card, there is no admin charges for overseas online transaction like credit card..just based on exchange rate then deduct from account. Is it true?

No, I was not having any account with them, just that if I MUST have a current account for the card, then I will register for a current account smile.gif

Both cards are available on the saving account, i guess the same for current a/c.
The significant difference for both of this card is the credit limit.
You can swipe 5k daily for visa, 10k for master.
Cheerss.
Btw, the mastercard looks a lot nicer biggrin.gif

I had trouble using my debit cards at Shell fuel stations. I tried PB Esso Mobil Visa Debit and CIMB Debit MasterCard, but transactions for both cards failed, at two different stations. I used a credit card after that and had no problem.

What was wrong? I paid with my CIMB Debit MasterCard before at some shops and had no problem.

Your saving account have a balance of RM200 after the deduct of the withold amount in your account.... For basic account, they will withhold RM20 which mean u need to have RM220 in your account.....

Like I mentioned in another thread, was in Australia and got myself a few Debit Cards.

To read my standard long winded article - click below link to see what I have to say about Melbourne and the conversion rate between withdrawing cash with my Malaysia Citibank Debit Card at Citibank ATM in Australia versus transferring funds with Citibank Global Fund Transfer.

Melbourne Victoria Australia - The World's Most Liveable City

or click below link to go to my new blog and see my Australia Debit Cards. Too bad for me I did not get an ANZ Debit Card because I needed to deposit and maintain a "substantial" sum to get the monthly fees waived.

Bro, moved your post to this debit card thread because it's all about debit card smile.gif

Anyway, did they ask you why you wanted to open an account at their banks ? Or you have an Australia PR ? Do remind me when you posted a picture of your yet-to-arrive NAB VISA debit card into your blog. I hope you did tell the CS what color you'd like for your NAB VISA debit card because there is one pink one and it looks 'bleh'. I have seen the black and red ones and both are so nicely designed biggrin.gif

Oh yeah, NAB is the only Australian bank that offers a truly fee free bank account with absolute no condition, as far as i am concerned. They used to charge some fees too but they changed this 2 or 3 years ago. Thought i needed to open an Aussie bank account then, so i did some comparisons. The rest of the big 3 Aussie banks all have minimum deposit or minimum balance to waive the account maintenance fee.

Bro, I just went in and said I want open Day to Day account smile.gif Like I mentioned, foreigners are subjected to freaking high withholding tax, so day to day account with 0% is fine with me. Just that I did not want to carry cash around and with so different banks' debit cards, don't have to worry about looking for a particular ATM. But like you said earlier, ANZ is good since they are like everywhere too, but I did not want to waste money on the monthly fees.

Yah, I saw the NAB pink card in their website, nobody asked me what colour I want hmm.gif Anyway, it will be months before I go get the NAB Debit Card.

Also, reason why I open so many accounts is I am planning ahead, I now expect my younger children to go there for their tertiary education. So just transfer fund via Citibank Global fund Transfer and then transfer to the Australia accounts I'll have cash when I am in Australia to spend on food and shopping smile.gif

WoW, nice advertisement?!?!?! nice card?!?! BEWARE!! Don't be cheated by the appearance and advertisement!!

Ok.
1st thing first, compare the statement between CIMB Debit card (above) and Maybank Debit card (below).

Attached Image

Attached Image

Notice anything strange??
Ya...CIMB won't show you where you swipe your card and just conveniently shows POS DEBIT...WTF.... mad.gif mad.gif

And do notice 2 transaction RM20 and RM30 both conducted on the same time 00:03:33 on 17 June 2012...
How would that be possible? 2 transactions at 1 time? even same second. flex.gif
Well, the 2 transaction are conducted on 12 June and 13 June respectively, but i don't know what takes CIMB so long to process it.
And EVERY transaction you conducted need to wait AT LEAST 3 working days for it to be reflected in your statement.
Before that, you only can notice your available balance being deducted without any statement for it.

And you can see that ALL TRANSACTION are being conducted in MIDNIGHT!! Whoa...sound creepy.....
Well, it's not the exact date and time i swipe the debit card, it's the time their system update the debit card statement and hence it became the time and date i swipe my card?!?!?!?!? doh.gif doh.gif COME ON!! what kind of logic is that??

CIMB should STOP advertising your debit card and LOOK INTO your debit card's such huge problem first!

Unlike Maybank debit card, which the amount swiped can be checked immediately via Maybank2u.
CIMB, you can't..

And this unfortunate happened to me at Carrefour Penang.
It happened on 14 June 2012 around 6.30pm.
I swipe my CIMB Debit card for my purchase at Carrefour Penang.
But i found out that carrefour over charge some item i bought after the cashier insert the card into the machine.
So i ask the cashier to remove the card from the machine without the approval slip being printed.
And after that i use another card to pay for the transaction because my CIMB Debit card had insufficient balance.
(I have not much amount left after swiping that transaction)

But after that i found out that my available balance in CIMB account has been deducted by that amount of transaction.
Called Carrefour and Carrefour call their merchant banker and denied they charge my card.
Called CIMB but CIMB insisted that Carrefour charge my card.
Carrefour ask me to produce the statement but i can't due to the abovementioned reason.
So i waited for the statement.
Till TODAY, from last Thursday to this Wednesday, i still yet to receive the statement.
But the amount in my savings account remain DEDUCTED.
Called CIMB, they in a tidak-apa manner told me if the transaction did not go thru, they will still HOLD the amount which will be refunded to me after 14 working days... whistling.gif whistling.gif

WHAT KIND OF BANK AND WHAT KIND OF DEBIT CARD IS THIS??
I WILL AVOID THIS BANK FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE!!!

The reason i share my incident here is for everyone to TAKE EXTRA PRECAUTION ON THIS IRRESPONSIBLE BANK!
