hi, i'm planning to root my device. Do i need to do any backup? (not sure whether all my apps/data will be gone)

Does it mean after rooting, i can update to OS3.2/ use custom roms?

Btw, is rooting same as jailbreaking for iOS?

I use my tab 10.1 mainly for reading and i tried most of bookreaders available. My requirement is reader to read epub and pdf
A. Stock reade -very good its only shortcoming is i cannot have my own catalogue
B. Moon reader - nice butconfusing. My pdf don't show
C.aldiko reader -slow
d. Montano plus - keep losing pages and zoom

hi tab users. planning to grab a unit of this 10.1 tab 3g+wifi
just curious to know...which idea would be the best n save u more money?

1. buy the tab and the 3g plan separately
2. buy the tab along with the plan (e.g. celcom)
3. wat 3g service provider are worth for ur money?

nope.. rooting n flashing is 2 different things.. u can flash into new rom but without root too..

custom roms now mostly come with HC 3.2 prerooted.. backup is required if u still need all the data inside, otherwise u can redownload..

procedure will be, root -> install titanium backup -> copy all the backup into PC to keep it safe -> find yr custom rom -> follow the rom's installation procedure -> reboot -> recover all apps/data -> done..

different from jailbreaking..

sure, no problem with 3G version tabs..

welcome.. try look for genuine leather casing, more elegant and classy plus easy to clean.. drawback is will be bulkier..

try test with other audio or software or try with earbuds n see..

depends on how much data u need and how much u willing to pay for the data..

if u used alot of 3G data, and dun mind paying more.. then getting with data plan will be much better..

or u are a mild user of data then u can consider getting umobile, provided yr area is under coverage.. with a monthly fee of RM28, and 1GB quota, i will say it is very affordable..

Huh? Which one? U mean my animated user bar? U can just copy the image url and use, I made it myself. Lol

i asked this question oso earlier.. but seems like rooting is just like giving you admin rights to do things ( to my understanding)... kindly correct if wrong

and i rooted immediately when i start it up, so nothing to back up hehe

Thanks, is it the same method to root a wifi and 3g version? I only can find wifi version online.

Been using iOS before so it's all new now with Android.

basically it's the same, but u need to use the correct file for your 3G version..

looks good if it works as wat it claims.. much better than dagi if it's true.. any info about pricing?

been using this tab for 2 days.
been heavily exploring the features.

man....i got to say i'm very dissapointed.

overall the tab is very laggy. i'm on the original 3.1 firmware.
scrolling through home screen is laggy, especially if you put these big widgets. a noticable example is the calander and the scrollable widget.

removing the widgets ensures smooth scrolling. but i was wondering why implement those widgets it they cause scrolling homescreen to be laggy.

and why the heck i cant reduce the number of home screen?
need to search for 3rd party launcher haiz...

most of the apps appear pixaleted,
the android market is soooo laggy.

there is NO folder support. this really confuse me, there is a paid alternative for it. which sucks, this should be free.

the middle part has a down arrow, which launches the totally USELESS samsung customize thing. always accidentally press it, especially when playing fruit ninja.

the screen rotation is slow. maybe due to it has to resize all the items on the home screen.

browser feels abit jagged. not that smooth, but at least it load pages faster than sgs2

default browser default agent is mobile, which is stupid since the screen is laptop resolution.

the recently used button is kidda redundant, even if i want to use it, its very slow to appear, always a noticable lag.

i already rooted, and freeze all the rubbish apps like hubgs, weather widget etc, but still quite slow.

the most used feature, which is the browser, forced closed about 10 times a day. opening 4-5 tabs with some of them being youtube video is too much for it to handle? and there is no "reopen all tabs" feature, sucks when it force close. :-(

i seriously feel my sgs2 is faster in every way.
playing "where's my water" on tab, the graphic is the lowest possible, the water flow like real water in my sgs2 and my friends's ipad, but on tab10.1, the water like blocks of water drops. haiz....

i have such high hopes for this android tab. but the performance is really bad. tegra 2 dual core is really slow, even sgs2 underclock to 1GHz is much faster. :-(

soo...soo...dissapointed in this tab. :-(
well, still 2 days usage, hopefully able to make it faster, or maybe i'm missing something.
