QUOTE(starlight @ Sep 7 2011, 10:06 PM) Anyone that did comparison with ipad 2? or have Ipad2 as well. I'm getting my first tab and still struggling between them! ... i'm an IOS user. Go and get a feel of both.Curretnly not able to get wifi only SME set in msia. still waiting.. 1899 3g wifi is not affordable to me. ipad has a superior UI - very slick and smooth. I always say this UI is a deceiving point to user as it is only an illusion covering the poorer performance of the ipad against the Android tablet. Many users just get suck into the belief ipad is superior just because the UI is simply amazingly smooth I have use the ipad for 8 months before I dump it for android tablet and I never regret it. And I have wrote openly in many threads why I find the ANdroid a better choice for me Browsing, email content download, youtube - the ipad just fails poorly against even the 7 inch Tab ( these are my important needs) iPad is great for gaming, plenty apps , watching videos - if these are important go for the ipad One of the user was complaining about the Tab keypad laggy. I don't face any lag at all. And one of the main reason I dump the ipad was the keyboard - apple editing function on the keyboard is just decades behind. Cannot imagine such a powerful software strong company cannot even offer a proper editing for the keyboard. If you are a frequent typist and make errors often, you will curse at its editing features. I tested the ipad2 to assess any improvement - same , no improvement Every tablet has its pro n cons. Decide on your needs of the tablet and see which gives you better solutions. Don't decide based on what other user say. Best talk to user who has used both. I have often been ask this question many times ( having use the ipad and all the iphone series and so many Androids ) - and I can honestly tell you , my answer has been about 50/50 both sides as different user has different needs. The ipad will meet 50% of them better while the other 50% I recommend the Android tablet |

QUOTE(un_id @ Sep 8 2011, 10:56 AM) I bought a usb connection kit.. from my understanding, i need to format my external hd to FAT32 to be use with this kit.. but its strange to see, when i attempted to format my hd from my PC, the only options are NTFS & exFAT. Hmmm.. is exFAT similar to FAT32? Any sofware needed to format it to fat32? Do you know where you can find USB thumb drives or microSD, min SD cards above 32 GB ??? So far all the latest smartphones and tablets support only up to max 32 GB onlyAnd, i read the kit manual. Written the, the kit support SD/flash and usb memory stick up to 32gb.. 32gb only?? Added on September 8, 2011, 10:56 amI bought a usb connection kit.. from my understanding, i need to format my external hd to FAT32 to be use with this kit.. but its strange to see, when i attempted to format my hd from my PC, the only options are NTFS & exFAT. The FAT32 file system is already widely used in many computers, however it doesn’t support partition bigger than 2 TiB and files larger than 4 GiB. Fortunately, a replacement for FAT32, : the exFAT. Microsoft has chosen this file system as the basis for its future products and Mac OS X already supports exFAT in its recent releases. The exFAT can be considered as “the FAT64″, which offers better support on larger storage size. So, FAT32 is NOT exFAT This post has been edited by benny888: Sep 8 2011, 11:06 AM |

QUOTE(un_id @ Sep 8 2011, 11:23 AM) Thanks uncle for advice. Why not ? I did mentioned before that I have connected both my Philip 120gb and WD 500gb , both are 2.5 inch n FAT32 formatted. If yours is 320GB, does it have a port for power input ? You might need to power on the HD while connecting to the tabletBut, if i format my 320gb external hd to fat32, can or not it be connected on my tablet? QUOTE(Senseless @ Sep 8 2011, 12:24 PM) I also have the same problem. Last time bought the U40 pre-paid from UM service center in 1U, everything looks fine but when put in my Tab, it just won't work no matter what method I used. Call UM CSC and confirms my sim is activated. Tried on HTC and can work fine. Did you setup the APN at settings/wireless network/mobile networkGave up after 3 days and sign up for Maxis BB. So far so good. APN is just : my3g |

QUOTE(un_id @ Sep 11 2011, 03:43 PM) me device still not rooted till now. i would say when one unfortunate time your tab crashed and fail for some unknown reasons, your nandroid backup done through recovery will revive your tab. that i feel is themost important result having the tab rootedsomehow i dun feel the need of rooting and flashing custom ROM.. other advantages of root - fake telco so that can access more free and paid apps in market - use good backup- restore app eg titanium backup - get rid of those irritating ads appearing in most free apps - improve performance reduce builtin bloatware -freeze unused apps reducing memory utilisation and such apps continually lurking in background - flash better kernel and cook roms |

QUOTE(jobneed @ Sep 11 2011, 10:14 PM) Guys, i plan to root my device tonight with the web recommended at first page, after i root my device, thats all? any other things need to install? Actually you should make effort to understand what is root and what root can do for you before even attempting to do itlike apple, after we jailbreak, we install winterbroad and installous all those famous apps, so for rooting, do we have those? I have posted some links - easy to follow at my SGS II official thread. Read page 1 post #5 first topic http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2019164 Don't root just because Ah Chong, Ali and Muthu is doing it. Maybe you do not need to root at all as your needs could be different. Read my comments , post # 181 on root just a few posts up what you can do with root We DO NOT discuss piracy at these Android forums and you need NOT root to engage yourself in using pirated apps unlike iphone/ipad This post has been edited by benny888: Sep 11 2011, 11:48 PM |

QUOTE(petpet007 @ Sep 30 2011, 11:13 PM) i mean use the usb mobile modem and the usb adapter plug into the tab, setup and connect to internet. not using the sim card. Honeycomb does not support such USB hosts for modems. So far I know only the Acer Iconia, hacks done to enabled it and that is plug in the USB modem directt to a full USB port on the Iconia |
