the company teaches how to trace? Or teach how to trace as practice only?

The problem with tracing as practice is that it does NOT encourage creativity. Sure, your technical skills MIGHT improve, but since you're still using your own method (unless you have access to a video that actually shows how the particular artist you are copying creates the artwork), what benefits you get are minimal, most of the time.

It becomes a problem when you promote that traced art as "original". Then you're plagiarizing, and infringing on the copyright of the original creator.

Anyway, here's a WIP of one of my pieces:

LOL, I was looking at that adcom photo in FB as well, but they took it down.

To be honest, I dont think tracing or "copy" an artwork will make you learn anything good.

when painting an artwork, there are so many things you need to decide, the lights, the shadow, the reflected light, the surface, shiny, wet rough. If just copy, you dont even need to think about all those.

well,yeah.

lets be honest,we all do copy styles and improvise right?

these days Im inspired by complex detailed art,by shishizaru, katsuya terada, etc.

so Im still learning how they do it,but I guess Im not creative enough.

but yeah, tiru bulat bulat, memang tak bagus.

I agree with Adam to a certain extent. We start off by referencing work of others. As a kid, I copied Dragon Ball characters etc. This is common and I believe this is an initiating point. On an artist behalf, I guess they would be proud if their work is appreciated by junior learners.

However, it's degrading to copy work of others and advertise them without proper credits. Adcom seems ignorant to this matter, by looking at their replies. It's a shame.

yeah, that was I wanna point out.

we all start off copying right?

but then we start standing by ourselves, developing our own style.

and of course, its a shame of adcom advertising without credit.

yes, you choose an artist and copy his/her artstyle. see how he paint or draw.

not just "photocopy" the artwork smile.gif

One of the advantages of working digitally: you can just go back and copypaste/liquify/paint over corrections if necessary. Otherwise, you need to eraser-blast/whiteout the area and start over (pencil/ink) or take an X-acto knife to the canvas (paints).

Thankfully it's a relatively small area and I haven't done any detail work yet, and I spotted it fairly early. Otherwise I'll really cry. biggrin.gif

Agree with inachi.

I suggest using a ruler to draw more guide lines (instead of just the middle line and a few other outlines) so you can scale the car proportions better.

This is always a problem to me as well. Kinda hard to get a good balance between left and right, especially when drawing a frontal angle picture. smile.gif

Will be a pain indeed to fix the ears... Good luck with it. smile.gif Her hair also looks quite senget imo. It doesn't look 'middle' enough to me. Or maybe it's just me.
