QUOTE(DragonReine @ Oct 11 2011, 07:08 AM) I'm interested to see the "in-progress" images for that. I wonder how you painted that based from this photo: i just use blur brush and keep stacking them till i get the tone i want.. with multiple layers of course» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « ... never had proper lessons on painting in photoshop but yea.. i just recently learn about using smudge, burn and dodge tool to paint |

Dear sifus... is there any easier way to paint realistic hair?
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « took me one hour+ for the hair alone and still got a long way to go This post has been edited by Bonchi: Oct 12 2011, 04:32 AM |

QUOTE(DragonReine @ Oct 12 2011, 01:47 PM) @ Bonchi am using the bristle brush but yea... still strand by strand No real way around plain ol' hard work if you want to get all those details in. Although I must ask, are you painting them in strand by strand or something? QUOTE(Adamiquesce @ Oct 12 2011, 03:26 PM) lol bonchi,I find the hair is the most fun part, but if you want it to be more detailed, then be patient. haha.. im starting to lose my patients already..I've saw a guy who stop his drawing because the hair makes him crazy. |

@agito thnx ... the images you showed me made me confirmed that there's no easy way to do hair ><
for me.. i just like turning photos into those.... painted movie posters so for cartoon/anime i usually, ink, scan or sketch in photoshop and export to illustrator to vector trace and paint it there |

i guess its the angle of the shot that makes it look a little distorted.. dont have a scanner for yuri
yup... since my canvas is 2500X3500K pixels i used bursh size 25-50 and paint it strand by strand...then finish it up with burn(blur brush size 10) and dodge(blur brush size 80) for more contrast. (wondering if im doing it right) face is blur and solid brush all the way with burn and dodge for shading adjustments.. used different layers for eyes, nose, mouth and face so can adjust and detail easily without worries of messing up other parts of the face (call it cheating This post has been edited by Bonchi: Oct 13 2011, 12:28 AM |

hmm smoothing is turn on.. i guess its the resolution and the pressure sensitivity which is half of intuos might be the limitation.. ive tried my best and its just not smooth at all..
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « ive finally get the idea of texturing came across some brushes for skin texturing when googling for tutorials.. guess im gonna give it a try. i guess posting my artwork here is a good thing after all |

@dragonreine i tried using a cosmetic brush i found on deviant art for the powdery skin texture and used them on the face and neck..also applied the noisy overlay method you thought and came up with this

well.. i guess art is not something easily learnt XD.. tho with proper techniques one can be even better.. especially the transition to digital. not everyone knows how to use photoshop straight away. infact i myself only know how to use brush, change brush type, layers and eraser
man.. after moving back to my rented house and found out there's alot of flaw in my artwork T.T ... monitor calibration is also very important. |

@dragonreine...great one!.. eventhough its a wip.. its already really awesome.
guess ive got a long way to go :| being too stuck up to follow 100% as the photo reference.. i have to change that habit. also what i meant earlier was monitor colour calibration.. the one i worked with was somewhat over saturated.. so the shades i applied arent appearing on my current monitor. which is somewhat frustrating that i have to do all over (or i can just use the saturation settings XD) Added on October 14, 2011, 3:42 amthis shall be my complete work after applying all the advises here what i did here was throw away the photo ive been referring all this while and do my final personal touch ups » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « shall leave it as it is already This post has been edited by Bonchi: Oct 14 2011, 03:42 AM |

i5 760 has more cache but its hard to find now.. but 2500k is a great choice.. go for 16gb ram as theyre cheap now.. as for gpu.. cant go wrong with gtx 460. basically thats my pc's spec haha
Added on October 15, 2011, 2:00 pmamd kinda loses out in multi tasking except the bulldozer but again it might be out of reach as well This post has been edited by Bonchi: Oct 15 2011, 02:00 PM |

amd apu 380? isnt that for laptops? i know bout llano 3850 tho... yes it has better built in graphic performance as compared to the intel 2500K. however in terms of processing and memory performance, it still quite far behind intel's lead. its better to use a dedicated pci-e GPU as well since there's hardware acceleration in photoshop cs4 onwards
