dont take it seriously  biggrin.gif

the reason why im sketching and drawing is mainly because of a freak accident 6 years ago
i broke my right hand and elbow, i was on a motorbike,  ......... and no! im not into rempit, it was a hit and run case

it takes 6 month to properly use my right hand..... its not that hard really... i was playing sony PS2 day and night, (with  doctor approval  thumbup.gif  )

its all screw and wire on my right elbow and hand,

during that time also i started to take drawing seriously, but i realize that not going to happen
but just for my hand sake, i sketch away for fun, and not long after that i go digital
and learn everything from watching video on youtube,

and i found a special talent .........

"i can absorb any drawing style  if i watch the whole process once or twice"

its like stealing other people trademark and style ........... its creepy  sweat.gif

i like to think it that way,....... true or not ....... i just glad that i can have fun drawing  laugh.gif

it is call learning from observation. not special power there. tongue.gif

im planing on PC upgrade
currently running on this spec

Processor IntelĀ® Core™2 CPU  6400 @ 2.13GHz
Memory (RAM) 4.00 GB 5.5
Graphics ATI Radeon HD 5600 Series 7.0
Gaming graphics 1919 MB Total available graphics memory 7.0
Primary hard disk 9GB Free (49GB Total)
Windows 7 Ultimate

im a multi tasker type

i do video converting  - alot
animation studio - medium
gaming - minimum.. but if i do play game its will probably HD games
loves to watch HD video on PC
and most important thing is that its for Drawing

i try to avoid Photoshop , since my PC cant handle the workload im giving it... so most of the time im using sai, but i cant work above 3500x3500 pixel if i did it, after getting to 27 or 28 layer it will crash insanely .. like every 2 or 3 min

and video and animation video converting,
usually takes about 2 hour to do video processing and converting
any recommendation on a new setup?

i was thinking maybe an AMD APU A380 or intel CPU i5 2500

get window 7 64bit system

i7, 12 to 16 gig ram. there were already 64bit version of photoshop. so it will be good in your situation where u use alot of photoshop

my 1 year old pc was i7 950, 12 gig ram, using old display card gtx 260.

I really like it man, because Ive been really wanted to do these type of
arts.

yes dude, I really like how makoto shinkai do all the background, especially the urban/city type. making ordinary daily scene look beautiful.

@Adam

just keep in mind that, alot of people want to become a fulltime artist, doing their awesome artwork. The competition is hard, just go to comic fiesta, and see all the artist selling their artwork there. they are damn good. but how many of them are actually doing that well in term of income.

for fulltime jobs, there is more openings for designers, rather than a pure illustrator. Maybe still could get a job as concept artist in some animation studio. but the paid u get locally here is never that high, because each year there is so many students graduate from art and design college.

just be prepare the starting paid/salary u get will be lower than a lot of other jobs,

You can look in this way also, if u get an engineering degree, and become damn good in drawing. You still can work as illustrator because u can draw very good.

but you cant do it the other way round, u will need that engineering degree for company to hire you.

oh I see

hmmm,it seems like those people that most suitable for this industry are running away from it because of certain factors.
I'd say most people in this thread do not have any relation in the art/design industry, taking it merely as a hobby.
When I was in high school, the visual art class is occupied by students that did poorly on PMR.Consisting bad students that are not interested in art, getting into the class by force, not by choice, heck Im not sure that they know what is art or not.
While,me,interested in art dont wanna be in the class because of the students, just dont wanna be with them,so I entered science class instead, because the students are well mannered and lil bit more matured.
So,I look at it this way,u dont have to have good SPM result to apply art and design, right?
so,like mclelun said, there is so many people graduates from art/design college, maybe because many people occupied it because they have no choice, like what happened in the high school.
but I just not sure yet.
while people that are suitable with art/design goes other way, like bonchi said, programming is more profitable than designing.

then, from what I see in the local media, the designs made are bad,not to be harsh, but from my view, they are bad.
even this web's design,honestly it's bad,nothing catch my eyes.
I saw the local television's shows, the designs,oh,what are they thinking.
I conclude that, the industry is full of wrong people. While the creative minds go elsewhere nothing to be seen.
and maybe malaysia is not a place for artists and illustrators.
cant survive here.

come prove me wrong,enlighten me.
I was just babbling with zero knowledge, nothing is sure.
*
If you are studying in local college, they never really look into your result because you going to pay them to study. tongue.gif
I think their basic requirement is just need you to pass BM. if you fail BM, you just need take BM course in the college. (more money for them)

For me, I was graduated in APIIT with a programming degree. but I was young and passion about art and design when I graduate, so I end up applying a job as a concept artist. I can frankly tell you that my first job paid was quite low comparing with my college mate that went into programming industry.

Anyway, I believe art and design related industry will give me something that I can never get if I choose to become a programmer, which is fame. You know I also want to do some awesome art/design thing, be it comic, animation, game or watever that use my creativity. woooohoooo /dreaming biggrin.gif

Ah. I didn't really use that method, although Steven Stahlberg uses that method very well. Mine is closer to this (hidden under spoiler for mild NSFW-ness):
