just to refresh your memory here.
last season we conceded 44 goals...before that 35.
our best season where we finished 2nd, only 27 goals...and we all know the lineup during then.

Of course, we've the best DM at tat time - Mascherano.

Just to add on, I hope you realise who's coaching us in the first half of last season... tongue.gif

Happy birthday to the late bill.Without him liverpool wont be what it is today.

About the lucas gerrard thing,i dont think kenny himself for now knows where exactly to play gerrard because he hasnt started training and to what extent the injuries have affected his abilities.I dunno where gerrard is gonna fit in but lucas must definitely start. Most likely gerrard is gonna replace adam or henderson.I cant see him playing AM because suarez is playing support striker and our current formation doesnt allow an extra midfielder.

Anyway it's good to see that we can play and win games without him.But a fit and firing gerrard could be the difference between top 4 finish and league challenge.

Gerrard best position is Attacking Midfielder, He can pass(pin point) left or right to either Bellamy or Downing to do the killer punch.

TBH, Gerrard's defensive skills are kinda reckless... The most I remember abt him was chasing back and do a sliding tackle whenever he lost a man...

Tat's why I don't really think he fit the shoe as a DM... He can play as Xabi Alonso, but not Lucas. As far as I am concerned, without Lucas, our rather weak defensive line should've conceded hell lots of goals.
*
Xabi Alonso didnt depends on sliding tackle , it is his skills in controlling the ball and reading opponent movement that control the game tempo and break up opponent counter attack.

I still remember he was so good until few opponents player have to be sent off , Joey Barton , Vidic , Lampard ,Cahill

If we want to play gerrard as attacking midfielder then we might have to change our formation and maybe drop caroll.

from wat i see, Carroll is best use a super sub. like Ole Gunnar Solskjær when the opponent is tired and Carroll runs and shots can "kill" them

this coming match against Stoke , I think Suarez will start ahead of Carroll. Watched highlights how Suarez outplayed Zat Knight last week and Hangeland last season , and he was very good playing against tall defenders.

everytime i mention, where are all the Lucas fans who were screaming for him to be unleashed as an attacking midfielder during rafa's time are...and they all saying how Rafa is wasting his talents by playing in a defensive role...they all go quiet.
no need to hide the fact that there were lots of guys here posting videos of how Lucas was a very good attacking midfielder in brazil...but the sad truth is once he arrives here the pace of the game doesnt give Lucas any time to create anything...
*
Here's the thing. In the post I've mentioned, the 'fellow in Rio' actually is a Flamengo supporter, not Gremio and he saw that even in Gremio, Lucas was the DM instead of the AM.

The one thing that interests me is the fact that in Gremio, Lucas played in a line further up front (not as deep as he is now in Liverpool), but i'll take the word of a South American Brazilian because they definitely know their game and their man in their game better than us (though Lucas is now in a game that we all can be familiar with)

2 person comes into mind when it comes to conceding least; Daniel Agger [main] and Lucas. Or so Paul Tomkins thought.

was about to post that. well, the only regret i have as a liv fan, is that i was born in this generation and not during bill's time. if only i could have got the chance to feel inspired by him and unique relation that he built between players and fans especially. pure class. notworthy.gif

Even if SG recovers completely, and assuming that KD knows the right way to use him, KD should not bring him back immediately. He should come in as a 2nd half sub to give the team a different dimension of play and to offset the opposition.

Honestly though, looking at the way KD is rebuilding the team, I will not be too surprised if SG's playing days with LFC may be numbered. SG is such an extraordinary player that if he cannot get back to his extraordinary style of play, he may actually become a bit of a liability.

Sigh..not a very nice thing to ponder, but that's life..

I hope Carroll can improve. Would be great! biggrin.gif

If he can do like a "Berbatov", would be great
but not with the time-line and the treatment he get now

Bill Shankly when asked how he would like to be remembered:

QUOTE
"That I've been basically honest in a game in which it is sometimes difficult to be honest. Sometimes you‘ve got to tell a little white lie to get over a little troublesome period of time. I'd like to think that I have put more into the game than I have taken out. And that I haven‘t cheated anybody, that I've been working for people honestly all along the line, for the people of Liverpool who go to Anfield. I'd like to be recognised for trying to give them entertainment.

I'd played at Anfield and I knew the crowd were fantastic. I knew there was a public just waiting. So I fought the battles inside and outside. I was interested in only one thing, success for the club. And that meant success for the people. I wanted results for the club, for the love of the game, to make the people happy."
