QUOTE(Rotuham @ Aug 28 2011, 08:10 PM) I was so impressed with skrtel playing right back whether defensively or attack wise that i voted him our MOTM on lfc site I rmb one moment where he gets into Bolton's penalty box and make them feel nervous Kelly is very good defensively while johnson is good offensively but skrtel is boss at both.Skrtel for right back!!! |

QUOTE(hfi @ Sep 2 2011, 11:46 AM) It's not about sentiments, it's a fact that he's the best DM in the team. No one can do what he does, not even Gerrard - at least not without you sacrificing Gerrard's other abilities which is attacking and terrorizing the oppositions. If you were to ask the oppositions whether they prefer Gerrard to stay back defending or attacking them i bet they would choose the former. Also a lot of people thinks it's easy to play DM when it's actually not. It's not just about getting yourself dirty going down tackling. It's also about reading the game and having the tactical discipline to stay in sync with the rest of the team. I can't be bothered to find the quotes but there are plethora of quotes from managers and coaches who claimed Gerrard simply do not have the tactical brain to become a central midfielder. At this point of his career, there's no point to reinvent the wheels and have him do something which he has not able to do with great success. I know what you're trying to say but for me it's counter productive to force out a DM out of hte team so we could play an attacking minded player to play as a DM. As usual, ppl always ignore the importance of good defending and it's never easy to defend well. One wrong judgement and you let opponent pass through; one wrong step and your goalkeeper will be exposed; one wrong tackle and you will be fouled or even carded. You see, defending is as important as offence and being good in defence is much harder than being good in offence since one won't blame you too much if you lost the ball upfront once in awhile but ppl will bash you a lot when you lost the ball at the back and subsequently conceded goals.Just my 2 cents. |

TBH, Gerrard's defensive skills are kinda reckless... The most I remember abt him was chasing back and do a sliding tackle whenever he lost a man...
Tat's why I don't really think he fit the shoe as a DM... He can play as Xabi Alonso, but not Lucas. As far as I am concerned, without Lucas, our rather weak defensive line should've conceded hell lots of goals. |

QUOTE(Everdying @ Sep 2 2011, 03:02 PM) just to refresh your memory here. Of course, we've the best DM at tat time - Mascherano.last season we conceded 44 goals...before that 35. our best season where we finished 2nd, only 27 goals...and we all know the lineup during then. Just to add on, I hope you realise who's coaching us in the first half of last season... This post has been edited by LukeMjstc: Sep 2 2011, 05:37 PM |

QUOTE(isaacmiranda7 @ Sep 8 2011, 10:28 PM) I withdraw my earlier statement. Natural right winger who can deliver crosses. Or a backup winger for Downing.I guess Duke has put it the way I meant to put it. His positioning and movement is extremely good, but when I watch him I don't see him as that much of a goal scorer. Perhaps, as someone earlier stated, his playing isn't so "easy on the eye" as other players. However, now pretty much all our midfielders and strikers can(and hopefully will) keep scoring goals. Anyway, its early days yet. But thus far, which areas of the team do you think we need to bolster, in January? Our side players are still very slim in amount. |

Our players play without their brain today... What was the point of those silly fouls? I rather leak goals than taking a red.

Even a kindergarten kid knows that to concede goals is better than taking red cards. Pfft!
I don't know what's on the players mind... |

QUOTE(sKyWiR3pT3lTd @ Sep 18 2011, 11:52 PM) We also want to be respectful to Tottenham who played particularly well throughout the 90 mins. WHL it's not an easy place to grab points. They overwhelmed us throughout the game, with or without the red cards we should still lose. This is a new age Spurs and they are on the run. On other note, surprise comeback from Fulham , holding mighty City 2-2 at the moment with few minutes to spare. |
