parent visa is expensive and also long q (10 years), so in order to jump q, have to pay A$50k each and it will cut short to few years only.. and not everyone can apply for parent visa, its 'children tested' as in if u got 3 kids, 2 of ur kids have to be a PR/Citizen in AUS or overseas, then only can apply.. if only one child in AUS, will not qualify to apply for the visa..
its expensive due to the medicals (medicare) will b included when the visa approved, thats what i heard from my friend... |

Not everyone is willing to work casual job for life. Some my engineer friends kena goreng recently in the mining as they start to slow down due to election coming this september. market i think is a bit holding back and making me worries if i landed without job will be devastating. If perth can't find job, i might have to consider sydney (i really don't like sydney) |

Though I am not a fan of Sydney as well but not to the extend of disliking it. Sydney living cost is very high especially when you want to settle down here. The property price is sky high and dining out is expensive as well if you compare with major cities like Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth. But Sydney has very moderate weather if compared to other cities. Most importantly, it has more job opportunities.I found a few occupation which facing difficulties finding a job. Being rob few times including my housemates.I must say the security there is quite bad if you wondering around after 9pm. Dining is very expensive, of course if you're working there, shouldn't be a problem. But for raising a family and buying a house will suffer. Unless u're staying in semi rural suburb will reduce the tension. Did some research on sydney properties....hmm,work for $$ yes, buying house there...er...some other time. |

If perth can't find job, i might have to consider sydney (i really don't like sydney) if opposition win in this election then it will be more tougher for migrants. one of their strategy is to tighten the immi rules sydney and melbourne could be the same when you look from outside but that is not the case. for me, melbourne is more relaxing and maybe 30% less busier than sydney. melbourne is also home of sport in australia which is good if you like sports. |

Out of the topic, anyone has convert AUD/MYR recently? The exchange rate shown on the net is approximately 3.23 today but checked with the money changer, they can only give 3.15, why so much difference?

So u have to look for money changer who willing to give u best rate.If u change more than AUD 5k, i guess u can request better rate. i just change some few days ago on 3.19. |

Like people in Melbourne is more family oriented and more docile. Sydney has more single professionals, more expats, etc and its more gregarious. At least that was how i felt after being in both cities. But then again, I bias towards Sydney. |

I was working in Aust for 2 yrs on a skill transfer visa many years ago. Company applied PR for me but govt declined it. So I came back. Not as easy as one thinks. Now with the Aust economy on the downturn, that is not helping either.
Why don't you apply for PR from here? My 2 cents. |

Afterall sydney is around alot longer than melbourne. Melbourne feels more european while sydney feels more contemporary.if you are into events/exhibitions/etc then i don't see why there is less happening. pretty sure melbourne and sydney have same thing Both have excellent arts, sports and events venue. |
