Oh what a relief! I came across some people who called me pretentious and I got quite upset and self-conscious about it for awhile heh.

Another things that I would like to share is this: employment consultants (not recruitment agencies)

I have been approached by someone from Grad Solutions before http://www.gradsolutions.com.au/

They said they would like to help me find a job/ match me to an employer. Initial chat is well.. free. But if you decide to use their service, you will have to pay them.

I did not use them though (I have a different agenda). But they seems very enthusiastic to help.

And of course there's AMES as pointed out by darkhorse_86 already.

Employment Consultants like Grad Solutions can assist you to find a job for a fee, but I don't think that they can guarantee a job for you. Another one in Melbourne, is KEAT International.

AMES conducts the program similar to a vocational courses. Attend classes, interact with other jobseekers, complete assignments given by tutors, practise for presentations and prepare for interview sessions. They don't guarantee you a job but at least they help you increase your confidence levels. However concession pricing is only given to PR's and Healthcare Card holders.

Hi, anyone applied for 186 visa permanent before? I've just been offered a job in Australia O&g industry. The problem is its on a 457 visa. Read about the risk of 457 temporary visa..
Can anyone share some info on 186 visa? Do you think I can request or convince my prospective employer to sponsor me on this route?

Many thanks

You have a company that is sponsoring your 457? Then that's great! I should congratulate you. If that company can give you 457, they should be able to help you apply PR. hmm.gif

Better ask migration consultants for correct info.

All the best!

Um from what i understand , anyone planning to go to AUS , should now go through the SKILLSELECT website , where u lodge an application and they will give you an invitation to apply , Even if an AUS company is willing to hire you , You still need to go through the registration of an EOI , through SKILL SELECT ,

I personally would be very weary of so called consultants that will help you find a job, even if you do , still it is up to the discretion of AUS immigration to pursue the matter ,

Hope this helps smile.gif

After working for 2 years under Visa 457, you can get the company to sponsor you the permanent visa. Company will also want to safeguard their interest. If they apply for permanent visa for you straightaway, you can always resign anytime and leave for another company, using them as stepping stone.

I'm from these groups and I've been sponsored for 457 visa before I got my PR.

i don't see how complicated based from the information in immi.gov.au as well.
they even list out what is the requirement for offshore PR.

don't think you can simply get a PR by walking into australia embassy(and that is simple)

Hi, I am currently working as a IT consultant (SAP functional) in malaysia for 2 years+. I graduated from an Australian uni and I am planning to return to down under for career and prospect reasons.

Just wondering, how's the IT industry in australia right now? i heard many companies are outsourcing to asian countries instead. I am planning to apply for skilled migration visa, but I would like to know my chances and prospect in working at Australia. Thx.

Shortage of Co Secs? Kidding right? For over 2 Yrs, iz can harly find a single job ad in adelaide for CoSec...
Anyway, if i have a 2nd chance, i would prefer to get a job, get sponsored and then move over... Reason being, the entire recruitment orocess can take as fast as 2 mths and up till 10mths or even a year.... No fun... Seriously... No fun
But the arguement is this, what skill do u posses that is so unique and niche the compan would want to sponsor u? Hence, chances are slim.... But then again, if u don't try, would u ever know? ... wink.gif think again...
