Hey Guys, I have PR and moving to Victoria soon. But I plan to look for a job before leaping over like a kangaroo.

Is it really tough to look for a job outside Australia? I have not received any interviews although I've submitted a few job applicastions online. I'm in IT field by the way, I received lots job offers in SG..and none in AU..its weird right

Since he said he has PR, wouldn't it help with job application? Just thinking out aloud, perhaps you could do simple work whilst looking for a proper job? I don't mean to be rude or condescending, but how about working at a fast food joint? It isn't that bad right?

well.. you have to fight with a lot of 'competitors' in Oz as well..
for casual jobs (like fast food or supermarket), the younger u r, ur hourly rate will be cheaper.. (of course the legal rate/hour)
for professional job, u need to compete with those local grads and also australian and even those who got local experience..

my advise is dont think with PR is easy to get u a job, it's just ur 1st step into the australia job market..
just be prepare..

Thanks for the reply. Always been wanting to find opportunities to work there but haven't really been successful furthermore the other issue is obtaining a PR status

depends on type of graduate you are, ur uni, ur experience, the amount of pay u want and ur visa status.

remb, if u say work for free 1 year, and have masters with exp, who don't want u whistling.gif

working exp in malaysia not equals to working exp for australia
-if possible, apply job in malaysia, if accepted then move over. chances of getting job straight is low (unless u have network n friends)

still better than spending every day over months to find a job thats related in ur career.
if u want to be waiter or investor or others capalang then can fly straightlar

remb cost of living is higher and currency is 3.2, don't want to be unemployed for too long.

well, there is always risk .. and nothing comes easy..

im not sure whether you got experience on finding job in Oz as professionals or not..
but if you got ur PR, and want to work and live in Oz for perm, this is the risk that you need to take.. (come to Oz and look for job)
if you just stay in MY and apply for job and hoping got an offer..i can assure that you will never step foot in Oz with a job beforehand..

yes, there are work sponsorship that u can get when u r in MY, but that is very rare and ur skills have to be very niche or in high demand..

just my 2cents opinion :-)

It reminds me of one Nigerian scammer who kept saying win-win solution for both of us when we were on Skype. brows.gif

I submitted late 2011 and got approval in ~7 months. Most are slower than this. Some are faster. It's a lot harder to get PR nowadays though.

yours was pretty fast, mine took a year to get it

What's a decision ready visa? Not familiar with it.

Not sure what I'm going to do with the PR yet. I have 5 years to decide what to do smile.gif
*
actually u only have 3 years otherwise you would burnt your PR renewal with a 1 year visa and you have to pay a 2nd time to get 5 years again
