I met some malaysians who worked illegally here. It happens to hv bachelor degree working in a farm. They're lucky they get paid at $15/hour.
My advice to them to go thru the proper route instead of jumping queue like we did. If there's too many illegal malaysian worked here, well, we'll get painted with parachuteers doh.gif

Yes exactly, then DIBP might move Malaysian passport holders to the 'high risk' category aka ineligible for an ETA (like India/ Pakistan/ Vietnam/ Bangladesh/ Syria etc)

Bro... if you don't have PR, the new tax rate for foreign worker is about 32.5/1 dollar. Doesn't matter what type of visa you are holding (as long as legal).
https://www.ato.gov.au/Rates/Individual-inc...r-years/?page=2

redo your calculation.

if you plan to earn pocket money, cash...be prepare to get less than the minimum wage (depends on what you are doing). For example, there are heaps of Chinese willing to work for 8-10 dollar/hr in Chinese Restaurant.

Good luck.

A lot of people misunderstood between PR/non PR and Paying Tax as resident/Paying tax as Foreigner.

If you are a student, which is not a PR working in Australia for the whole year, you are considered as paying tax as resident. No matter if you are a TR, as long as you work in Australia for a certain amount of period, you are considered as paying tas as a resident. If this makes sense to the people out in the forum.

I, myself is under 457 which is non PR, so I am pretty much able to confirm the above.

Is the title of this thread "discussion about good working and living conditions in australia"?

No.

Both side's opinion are welcome. I am just telling people to take charge of their own life. And be able to read other's opinion and differentiate which has more truth.

As others have mentioned this is the standard for tax resident. There are many other factors if u really want to be pedantic inc. deductions, low income tax offsets, family tax benefit, rental assistance etc.
But as I have said this is a simple estimate of how much one will need to survive on a low income.
Of course if u r willing to work illegally at 8 ph, most likely u wont mind being cramped in a room with 2 bunk beds.

I am from Sabah, currently working in Cyberjaya.

Most likely will apply through agent, although it is expensive, but at least they know what they are doing and doing it professionally.

While not sure when/will I get invite to apply for visa after EOI, will take this time to slowly transform into a tutor, maybe in future can teach in TAFE while still able to do some freelance job.

Up to each individual, of course. But as with many Aus Gov applications, they are very well documented, and as long as u follow exactly, you'll be alright.

I would personally have better use of the 20-30K for the agent fees (could help with settling in costs in Oz for a few months...)

Agent fees for mine does not add up to that much. Agent fees is about 10k. They've given a timeline sheet with calculations and I did check out the prices for all assessments myself and it's legit.

Well, talking from my exp. I engaged an agent starting with 'R' which i picked their mistake numerous time and slam them few times!

Mistake 1: Taking wrong file
I met the agent 2nd time and she bringing out the folder which indicate same surname but different person and profession! I hv yet pay further fees yet and she said i got my PR. I was like 'Whoa??"
She showed me all documents for 10min and keep on talking. All of sudden there's a passport pics shown different face. Then she was so embarrassing. That's count 1

Mistake 2: State Sponsorship
The same lady said my points is not enough. Keep pushing me for state sponsorship. I said no. I'm very confident i got enough points. She keep on arguing with me saying they're not confident and my application will be rejected.
The reason behind is that time they're charging RM1000 for getting state sponsorship letter for me. If i apply the letter myself, it only cost me AUD200 which is RM500 that time. However, i did my homework. So i calculate the point again in front of her. Then she keep quiet.

Mistake 3: Medical (Lifecare mistake....TOTALLY BULLSHIT!)
My wife was pregnant so can't undergo X-ray not until my boy is born. After 3 mths, she undergo the X-ray and we waited another 1 month. The agent told me shd be very quick as it's all e-filing and shd take less than 2 weeks to approve. We waited more than 1 month so i called Lifecare what's going on. The idiot nurse said my application has done but found there's cyst to my wife. I said i knew then just process based on your findings. She said there's category A & B. A means good to go. B means in health conditional risk. Which one should i choose. My head boiled! I was screaming at her what the hell you guys doing! You guys are health officer and doctor and asking me the question?!? If i didn't ring up you guys does that mean i gonna wait for another few years??? I tot you guys should have integrity for the job what you guys doing! Just report whatever shit.
After that case, i got my PR in 2 weeks.

The reason why i always recommend ppl to apply PR themselves if can, coz i already knew how the PR works since my uni time 15 years ago. I collect all the docs but didnt submit that time coz got some family biz issue.
2007 i wanna apply again but still refused to submit as still thinking malaysia still got hope so left the parcel doc in the drawer for a very long time.

2011 is really give a go. Looking at malaysia is getting worst. No choice, have to leave.

Better be sure you monitor their status. Asking them to update you every week.
I did mine keep on pushing. That's why i supposed to hv my PR in 3 mths but due to my wife is pregnant, push it to 6 mths.

Hi all, I'm wondering if anyone here has made the jump from the legal field in Malaysia to the same in Aussie?

I've received my training under the University of London, so I would be very much grateful if someone with a similar background looking to / has had worked in Australia could share their experiences.

I also hired an agent for my migration and at the moment still waiting. Like many mentioned, you would have to constantly follow up with them because they tend to overlook. My agency also start with G and I have told them off numerous time. My case is still stuck at EOI stage because there is no opening for my skill set unless I have a job/relative living in that state.
No choice but to keep trying and waiting
