I got a couple of questions in mind, which I hope LYN people will be able to answer:
1. Where do I register for IELTS?
2. Do I need to attend classes or it's optional?
3. Cost of exam fee for IELTS
4. Any websites which I can learn and practice on

Thanks in advance!
*
1. Can register at British Council or IDP
2. Classes are optional and additional cost. If you speak English daily, i think you dont have to attend the class. Just be familiar with the exam format and requirements
3. This year fees is RM610
4. You can search in Youtube for tips and guidance

All the best

and ANZ bank(one of the big four) going to outsource 600 call center jobs to offshore. IT prospects in Australia not that good as before
For me, earning that much of money before 30 years old is kinda enough for me. IS good enough in Malaysia but traveling to oversea is another thing.

Btw, just received my IELTS score and feels humiliated by the score. I never expect to score that low as I very confident especially in Reading and Speaking. Would probably retake again but I kinda suspicious in the way they marking.  sad.gif

Maybe I should tick 2 years of study in English in application form to make the marking level lower
*
I don't think the number of years you study English will effect the IELTS examiner marking. At times, it could be the topics you gotten on that day is a bit difficult that's why you didn't get the score you required.
Do you a score of 7 for all bands?

Unfortunately no. I don't find the questions were hard especially for reading and speaking but only get 6.5 for both. I looked at reading score sheet and probably I just missed 1-3 answers to get 7 or 7.5 but I quite confident with speaking though

Although there are no concrete evidence for this but there are a lot of complaints about IELTS giving you lower marks if they roughly know your intention (like migration) so that you will go for the resit(and of course pay) again.
L7.5 R6.5 W6.5 S6.5

Understand with the writing part especially with my bad handwriting but still not satisfy with R and S marks. Oh well, guess I just need to pay and resit

Maybe I should try to take the test in Malaysia and see how it goes
*
You are taking it in Australia? Maybe try taking it at a different centre. My friend took ILETS 4 times already, once being in Malaysia and her score for writing is still the same.
But taking it in Malaysia is definitely cheaper than in Australia. So if you are coming back, i think it is no harm taking it here.
All the best.

and if you could throw in idioms and expressions, and be witty in your replies, that would be a plus point as well. I know the questions may sound strange, but it is all part of testing your speaking skills.
*
True, speaking exam is just to gauge how well your understanding of the English language. Although you may know how to answer the questions, if you can twist your answer to at least how your answer is related to the question then it should be fine.
For me i stopped before the examiner stop me because I really dunno what else to stay but I still get quite a good score.
I was a bit disappointed with reading score because I thought did better than listening as I dose off part of the listening exam. But I scored better for listening than reading. But I am just glad that i got the score i required because I dont want to resit because it is not cheap to retake the exam plus you might feel demoralized after several attempts.
Btw, the questions are the same if regardless of which country you take the exam because my friend and I got the same questions for listening but the other exam was different because I took general module while my friend took academic

I took the test in KL, had a local examiner I think, nice Indian lady, and she basically told me to continue talking even though I thought I was done.

The writing is definitely the most difficult for me, first because most of us, myself included aren't used to writing on pen and paper so you need to plan your way well. Second is that I tend to write a lot biggrin.gif

Practice and practice, speak english until you can think and dream in english biggrin.gif The accent to me matters less, vocabulary, articulation and sentence structure matters more.
*
My examiner was also an Indian lady but she didnt ask me to continue. She just proceed to ask the next set of questions. I also find writing is the most difficult because I have not hand written for such a long time plus your answer have to be concise and within the word limit. I actually overwrite by more than 100 words for both tasks

Hi,  can I use Malaysian driving licence to drive / rent a car in Australia?
*
You are going there for holiday? If yes, then you can use malaysian driving license because my friends do that.
If you have just gotten your PR, then you need to get an Australian driving license

sad.gif do they allow you to write the question & ans down in point form?
i can ramble for a minute but past 2mins, i forget the question & ultimately derail from the question.
*
Once the examiner read out the question, he/she will give you a minute to prepare your answer. The examiner would also give you a paper and a pen to draft your answer.
Dont worry too much and all the best

Has anyone received their EOI today, especially those IT folks?
Havent received mine, guess that I am not invited and need to wait....  sad.gif

I am thinking to re-sit my IELTS, got average 6.5 in my last test. Can you guys recommend a few good ielts books? If you have IELTS books to throw away, kindly donate :0) Thanks!
*
When did you submit your EOI? The EOI submission will last for about 2 years (depending on your IELTS certs and your profession certs) from the submission date. If you don't hear from them after than period of time, means you are unsuccessful.
I am not too sure how soon after submitting EOI will they respond because I have yet to gone through that stage, still waiting for the respond from the organization assessing my qualification.

You mentioned that your IELTS only got an average of 6.5, means you don't need the point from English test to meet the score requirement. As the minimum score should be 7 across all band in order to get 10 points from English test. Maybe they changed the English requirement because they tend to that.

Dear All,
Finally receive my EOI yesterday. I am about to submit my visa application.
I am not sure if I still need to  attach all my employment verification letter to the skill migration portal or should I just attach ACS letter ?

Points test and skills assessment
â–¡ Applicants who are required to meet the points test must provide evidence to support their claims against each relevant criterion.
Evidence that the main applicant has, at the time of invitation, obtained a suitable skills assessment in their nominated occupation on the relevant Skilled Occupation List (SOL).

Please let me know if you have gone through the process. TQ!
*
How soon did they come back to you once you submit your EOI? May I know if you are from which profession? I just want to know what is the timeline.

i will pursue my study in aust or uk..but im intend to work abroad for a year or two to cover my study loan..i already calculate the amount to study in aust in way expensive than in uk..different around rm100k..but i can work easily after graduating..ist true??because i dont want to waste my money if i cant work in aust after graduating..

and i heard its very hard to get a job in uk for foreigner..if i study in a top uni in uk will it be easy for me to get a job in aust??
*
You should not based your decision whether you are able to get a job after you graduate because both countries are not easy to secure a job due to the recent economy. Plus the market will definately change in the next 3 or 4 years when you graduate. If your sole purpose to earn back the money that you have paid for your studies, please don't put too much hope on it because you will be disappointed at the end of the day when you don't secure a job.
If you want to experience studying abroad, maybe you can consider twinning course so you can save up on tuition fee and living cost.

Each country has its own pros and cons. It is definitely up to each individual whether they want to stay back in Malaysia or try their luck in a new country, in this case Australia. I believe most of them that decided to leave everything they have in Malaysia and to try it in Australia would have their reasons and have definitely taken into consideration that they will have to start from the bottom and it not all rosy. Hence, I don't see the point of disagreeing on what each type of job would earn more money in each country. It is more beneficial to the others whom seeking advice for those to share their experience with relation to the subject of the topic

Think Masters/PHD are a different level for prices. I know for UWA degree (engineering) is about 32k while commerce could be as low as 24k/annum.

Masters and PHD on the other hand is crazy but normally you only study them if you get scholarships.
*
Tuition fee prices increase by 10-15% every year. When i did my master in 2008, it only cost me about AUD22K per year.

I got consulted by rayford, global and austral migration for my pr application.  After reading all the reviews about rayford over here.... it is out of my list. Any experience or review on global and austral?
*
I appointed Global as my agent although they are single focus migration agency, it depends on who you get as your agent. I was recommended by Global by my friends whom 3 of them got their PR from Global as well

Hi to all,

Where can I check the availability of state sponsor list.

I had visited Austral, they say my occupation is closed at the moment.

They did say even if I meet the point system, I still need to get the state sponsorship. Is it true?
*

The best bet would be googling each state website. There is a website for each state where they state the current occupation list that has opening or eligiblity for state sponsoring. This website will also have guideline on what documents are required as well in order for you to apply.
What is your occupation? If your occupation is not in the demand or tier 1 skilled list, then you have to go through state sponsoring although you have sufficient point (correct me if I am wrong)

Just lodged my PR and paid the fees for me wife and kid, awaiting grant soon.

By the way the new list is out, and no occupations removed also some added as chef, brik layer, wall and floor tiler plus a few others.

same with the CSOL list by states. those intending should give it a try as there could be an increase in visa fees.

By the way i didnt use an agent just followed the instructions by the Aus Immi website, started process in dec 13 and now june 14 expecting PR.

Anyone need some guidence willing to help ...just post them questions here
*
Great news! I am still waiting for EOI to be picked up because the agent completed my EOI just when ACT changed it rules. Plus no changes to the state CSOL lists means there would be no changes to my application status cry.gif

Please go..! I am currently applying for Skilled Migration Visa and recently the state nomination occupation doesn't list my job anymore. I have to re-apply for another job title if I want to pursue a migration which would cost money and time.

If i have the opportunity to go there, I would grab it straight away...
*
I am also on the same boat. Might have to consider switching to another job title or just give up the dream of migrating.

I also hired an agent for my migration and at the moment still waiting. Like many mentioned, you would have to constantly follow up with them because they tend to overlook. My agency also start with G and I have told them off numerous time. My case is still stuck at EOI stage because there is no opening for my skill set unless I have a job/relative living in that state.
No choice but to keep trying and waiting
