it will be 7.5k.
First month rental + one month deposit + one month agent fee.
Might be more.  laugh.gif  laugh.gif

For one year lease is 6.25k (1mth rental 1mth deposit 1/2mth agent fee)
For two year lease is 10k (1mth rental 2mth deposit 1mth agent fee)

Deposit only for PUB lor, $200. I don't remember my starhub internet/cable got need any deposit.

@Dark If you're earning decent bucks you could even consider taxi. Bedok to CBP is about $7 one-way, so if you took taxi to-and-fro every day you're looking at under $350 a month.

[edit] you bring family means startup cost will be even higher. Even a "fully furnished" apartment is not really fully fit for living, need to consider buying mattress/bed, appliances, cutlery, cooking pots n pans, unless you are bringing all your stuff over from MY.

My friend staying at Jurong, travelling to CBD area taking taxi to and fro almost everyday. He still say it is cheap comparing to driving a car. He sold his car and happily taking taxi everyday, like having a driver fetching him here and there everyday. Hard truth is having a car cost much more than taking taxi. Bus is cheaper but longer travelling time.

No worries...his monthly taxi fares cost less than 800 per month. Keeping his car, his CBD area office car park + HDB car park + normal car parking fees + ERP + monthly installment + Insurance + Road Tax + Fuel + Maintenance is much more than his taxi fares. biggrin.gif

You still have MRT......which is by far THE fastest mode of transport especially during peak hours...road can be congested...so buses n taxis will be stucked as well

I got an offer to work in Singapore. Currently the employer is preparing the offer letter.
The location is at Changi business park (CBP). Anyone working there?
After some googling I found that the nearest HDB township is Simei. If my estimation is correct, its about 30 mins walking distance to CBP, which is not very near..
There are 'premium bus services' that goes to CBP from Yishun/Sembawang/AMK/Punggol/SengKang. Gives me more options.
After checking the rental rates, apart from Yishun, the rest of the areas are S$2000 and above. Any idea why Yishun rental is slightly cheaper? coz its a little further from the city?
*
u must go there to know why it is cheaper... hehehe, sometimes it is location, sometimes it is due to amenities, sometimes due to the kind of housing...

I am really open to any mode of transportation. But preferbly something that can bring me directly to the office. (not like bus>MRT>bus..)
Yeah, I need the whole unit coz my family is moving with me.

Any bus from Expo station to ur office? should have rite?
u can take mrt from pari ris / simei / bedok (cheaper area compared to eunos and further down to central)
Why u dun wan transit, SG is very convenient.
U can also think of taxi. To and fro shd be less than $20 (i think around $15), if u stay in simei/tampines/east side of bedok. Sumore its not CBD are, no ERP charges. Definitely waaayyy cheaper than car.

I was thinking of the premium bus service. Stay along the route. Just one bus will bring me to the office.
The bus stops very near to the office.

bare in mind taking bus all the way from yishun is dam f*****n long. it will take around one hour. rmbr u have traffic jam.
so it's still etter to stay in bedok, tapines, pasir ris and do the mrt/bus transit.

If you're the sweaty type and you don't like it... go with taxi or car. The only exception is if there's a bus route that takes you door to door, and the bus stops are very, very near your flat and workplace. Even then, it could be a loooong trip. For instance the bus from my block in AMK to Heeren at Orchard Road fits the exception perfectly, but it's a 55 minute journey with 30 stops. So I take it very, very rarely... for eg. when I have some thinking to do and in a bus is as good a place as any.

But if you don't mind public transport, then simply buy a city map + bus guide, check which buses go to your workplace or nearest MRT (plus feeder bus) and then work your way out from there. I would choose a place that's along the required bus/mrt route (less than 20 minutes travel time - 10 bus stops or 10 MRT stations) and preferably with a nearby shopping center / supermarket / HDB hub (within 5 bus stops).

there is malaysian operated bus AC7 from kota raya to Yishun too.

It has been a long time I never take bus to JB, for those who take SG operated bus from JB to Singapore, make sure you pay cash(RM) instead of eZlink(SGD).
