QUOTE(virgoguy @ Oct 18 2011, 06:21 PM)
hi all

two days ago, I've just cancelled off my RHB classic which been followed me for 8 yrs long due to the incompetent offer and benefits. Today the bank called me up and decide keep me to stay with them by offering me NO GST, NO Annual fee and double up my CL from now onward.

So I really wonder doesn't it they overturn the GST rules been stated by government whereby the bank are not allow to absorb the GST for the customer?

The second question is, should I accept it or reject it? or ask them to offer me platinum card with same condition?  tongue.gif but somehow i still think that their cc benefits are sux(Note : currently I am holding OCBC Ti and MB2 Platinum)
*
1st, they not overturn gst rules.
usually u still need to pay the gst 1st and they will credited back rm50 later in next statement.
or, as Human Nature replied - they give u points to redeem gst

2nd, since u already have OCBC Ti and MBK2, actually u can just reject the offer. cancel the card.

why? coz the card got the annual fee rm70 (source).
if u ask for plat, the annual fee is higher, unless u did swipe rm36k/year with the card to get free 2nd year annual fee (source). if not, cancel the card before annivessary month next year brows.gif

QUOTE(Human Nature @ Oct 18 2011, 07:01 PM)
If you can indeed nego for the plat, and get confirmation in writing, no AF/GST or RM50 cashback with no condition, it could be worthwhile to keep the card for the 4x complimentary access to all Plaza Premium Lounges since it is not offered by your current OCBC Ti and MBB2 Plat.
*
AF for plat is already free for 1st year.
like i suggest above, if spend less than rm36k/year, cancel the card on the 11th month! laugh.gif

Get confirmation in writing as in stated all those in the paper mail?
*
yes. get the b&w letter mailed to you. but the chance to get free plat AF for life seems almost impossible sweat.gif

unless, u open PB with them smile.gif

not really.

UOB case:
i tried before call up uob to request permanent increase CL without submit any document after use the card for 18 mths. my wife tried before call up uob to upgrade her uob one plat to preferred plat without submit any document too. thumbup.gif

Alliance Bank case:
apply for permanent increase CL by walk in, submit latest 6 mths bank statement for proof of income and was rejected even after use the card for 7 mths. doh.gif

So, i believe it is depend on cases to cases because every bank has different policy. hmm.gif  after all, if you really need a higher CL, why don't just give them a call to request increase CL whereby it cost you nothing... brows.gif

nokiaXP, no point you ask us about CL increase, we are not the bank processing department. Every individual is different based on his spending pattern, payment pattern and credit history and as such some will get increase by simply calling to CS but some need to submit additional docs.

income requirement poses a major hurdle for me to add to My Credit Cards collection. I wonder if I will get calls from marketing department offering pre-approved card like when they called me last year offering WMC.
i was shocked just now my maybank vi arrived today without me applying (pre approved). they increased my CL by 50% from existing maybank wmc.

Read your CC T&C / fine prints.

Frankly I do not suggest you to pass your CC to her like that. If there is fraud / illegal use, you may need to bear the whole consequence.

A safer way is to issue her supplementary cards. You may share certain/full credit limit from your CC (principal).

Thanks @cute_boboi for your comment. You are spot on!
Actually no need to wait for fraud, the cashier or anyone may raise an alarm if found the cardholder name vs. the card bearer is different. You GF may be apprehended for suspected theft of your card and once your bank finds out then be sure to have yourself banned by your own bank as you have contravened the T&C of your card.

Please bother to read the T&C of your card although many throw them away as waste paper. They answers your question already.

hye: I don't know if you read erry's replies earlier where he has deleted his suggestion in the posting above, but if you had, you be shocked. Actually alexwsk did reply not to pass the card as what cute_boboi mentioned and I did comment instead get a MBB or UOB Debit Card on the spot for his GF and lynus5986 had acknowledged our comments. But when lynus's thread was merged here, our comments (4 postings) were deleted or disappeared.

Anyway, this was in The Star - Malaysian MC spent RM2.03B with 22.7M transactions during the last Mega Sale. That means the average transaction was RM89.42.

I did saw the earlier post and I'm aware of the suggestions made. (Which was highly shocking and inappropriate) I came in only later in the evening ... and I'm sure many had already read the post. (Sigh ...)
The additional post contains quoted posts which had some references/clue to the earlier suggestions and I don't think we should be showing that for public consumption. Apologies if that unexpectedly deleted some of the additional comments as well.

To everyone here ... appreciate if everyone could take time to bother reading the T&C of your card. It explains a lot of things you can do and should never do. Doing something inappropriate can get you into a whole lot of trouble.

Fully agree with your wise and appropriate actions in deleting the clue and reference.

And you can be excuse for accidentally deleting those which are relevant since you are still "new" to the deleting and merging thingy tongue.gif

Hi guys, recently I got a letter from Citibank to update my income record with them due to the new regulations by BNM on card holders with 3k income or less. With that in mind, I was wondering what will happen to card holders who are retirees like my dad? Any idea what will happen to his cards and credit limit? Technically he has zero income now tongue.gif

Can you tell us what kind of information did they requested?

Did they request any kind of document to be submitted?

They listed a few such as latest tax returns and some other stuff for business owners. For myself a salaried worker, just one month of the latest payslip would suffice smile.gif

Latest payslip should be easily satisfied. Payslips could be easily forged. I wonder why they ask for something like that only.

I'm a Citi card holder too, but I'm wondering why I have not received such a letter.

As for retirees, logically speaking, should not be granted any credit anymore because they don't have any business or employment income. If they need a loan means their retirement income is insufficient and therefore must continue working. Debit cards or supplementary credit cards are more for suitable for them.

Perhaps you're right regarding the retirees and being granted credit part haha. Will see what they do to my folk's cards. Anyway, perhaps you have not been issued a letter because when you registered for your card your income was already over 3k per month? I registered for my card 5 years ago and never bothered to update them with my updated pay and back then my income wasn't 3k hehe. So perhaps yours was and hence they didn't send the letter.
