citibank clear card is a good card for those who like to watch movies.
1. buy 1 free 1 on friday for GSC
2. buy 1 free 1 on fri for cineleisure at the curve
3. buy 1 free 1 on weekend for TGV
4. buy 1 free 1 coffee bean on everyday

Yes, I am aware of Clear Card offer at Curve and Coffee Bean. What surprised me is that the YGV offer applies to ALL Citibank CC.

Purchases from Apple Online via CIMB/Direct Access Credit Card

For information purposes, I as well as other CIMB/DA credit card users have had our accounts charged higher than the amount invoiced by Apple Online (Malaysia, but based in Singapore) - I have filed an official dispute with CIMB/DA and am currently awaiting their response (Refer to iPad 2 online order status thread).

If no kind soul starts an individual topic as regards this matter soon, I will do so when I find the time.

Without going into the T&Cs of the CIMB/DA credit card agreement, I reason based on the fact that other banks including HSBC, Citibank, MBB and SCB (as reported in the iPad thread) only charge the amount as invoiced by Apple Online, CIMB is treating Apple Online transactions very differently, which explains the higher charges.

Will report back on progress of the matter when news/more info is available. If legal methods don't work, I guess there are always extra legal options - Facebook and LYN comes into mind.

*edited* @ronnie Thanks for the additional feedback and also for highlighting it here.

ronnie warned us about using CIMB credit cards earlier (also mentioned by you). Just to share - I used my Alliance Bank Visa no such problem. Transaction in Ringgit.

Today got a call from HSBC offering me Visa Signature Card. GST and annual fee waive for 1st year.
I am still considering if I should take up the offer.
What is your say?

HSBC Credit cards have free annual fee waive by just swiping 12 times a year thumbup.gif Got RM50 to spare and add HSBC VS to your collection tongue.gif

Seriously, only you know if the card will benefit you.

Do you aware that the 5x rewards points is not a permanent benefit of this card? I found out from reading the T&Cs. I have commented it in your blog.
*
Yah, it is until end of the year. It was discussed at HSBC Thread. But with RM1000 limit a month, is like RM25 cash back. And best of all, most of the places that gives the 5X also accept AMEX. So like I said, you got RM50 to spare? On the other hand, recently I have been receiving many sms from HSBC where many outlets/merchants gives discount with it, but I don't patronize them.

You commented in my blog? Which post? **Edited** Just saw it, you just commented today.

The new rule of BNM limits only 2 cards if the salary is < 36k.

Since I hold Maybank 2 Platinum, Amex Gold Cc and Platinum Mastercard with them, they wanted me to prove my income so they wont cancel any of the cards.

This is interesting, when they ask you? The call you and sent letter?

yes apple.com.my BUT their office (or whatever you call it) is in SG. The transaction will show that it was done in SG. that's why ronnie and wshoh mentioned that CIMB charges additional fees as it is deemed the transaction was done in SG.

Was in SG last few days and did not really see any MasterCard promotion for the great Singapore sale which starts tomorrow. But, at 313@Somerset, received SG$10 voucher (which can be used anywhere within the mall) for spending SG100 with my OCBC Titanium. What I want to share is this, many of the SG Malls like 313, Centre Point and OG and even Takashimaya have Tourist Card that entitles you to free gift or discount. So if you are going shopping there, always check with the CS counter. And remember to ask for GST receipt if you spend above SG$100 if you are flying out.

I want to know if anyone can help me on this.
My credit card application was rejected for no apparent reason given.
I have cleared and double-check both my CCRIS and CTOS report (even they are puzzled why is this so).
I am earning about RM 150K per annum and I am trying to apply Visa Signature cards.

Please do help and suggest any other means to obtain financial reports or credit score reports.

Thanks

QUOTE(mdlan @ May 28 2011, 07:04 PM)
I have few question to ask, and i'm totally new in this credit card thing. Firstly i do not own any credit card because i can't apply due to my annual income below then 24k (actually not even reach 20k blush.gif ). Anyway my mom has an extra credit card that not being use, and my mom will help me buy thing that i want, monthly bill will be pay by me. Or maybe i will ask my mom to do cash advance by using that credit card. So i just take the money and pay the thing i want to buy, then monthly bill will be paid by me.

So the question is,
- I want to buy something that worth RM4000, and if the minimum pay is 5% from RM4000 it will be RM225, so i decide to pay RM300 monthly, that mean i will be in good standing right? how about the interest charge? and i still blur about the Interest rate (% p.a.) what this thing mean actually? from what i understand that mean if i still have hutang after 1 year the interest will be 13.5% right? example after 1 year i still got hutang left RM300 then 13.5% from RM300 is RM40.5 , so i have to pay that? how about if i can finish the debt in less then 1 year?

sorry if my question too messy, and sorry for my bad english. I'll try to explain further if you guy cannot understand..
*
mdlan, if you pay minimum 5% every month, with interest imposed on the outstanding balance, it will take you no less than 5 years to clear the debt. I strongly recommend that you do not go buy stuff that you cannot afford i.e. live beyond your means. However, if you really need to spend RM4K on something that is of absolute necessary, then like charymslyn said, opt for 0% installment plan if possible. There are 0% installment plan for Education Tuition Fees and Hospital Bills with CIMB credit cards.

**Edited**
I just read about the motorbike thingy. I think it be cheaper if you go get yourself a loan. Don't the banks give loan for motorbikes?

Maybe what you should instead do is do a Balance Transfer to another card and save on interest. i.e.  CIMB have Balance Transfer where the interest rate is 0% for 6 months and 1% for 12 months and hopefully you can settle the debt within a year. Example So charged the motobike to say Maybankard and the do BT to CIMB card.

Thanks for sharing. OCBC is quite aggressive with discount promotions & contests recently. That's good for cardholders. From my experience, Citibank and Maybank are the best in terms of the discount promotions. I might be wrong here. What's your say?

Probably, you can write up an article for cards with the best promotions.  smile.gif
*
must also thank ckuanglim who posted his OCBC sms in SMS Thread, a day or 2 before I went to Fahrenheit as my girls wanted to go to UNIGLO.

I do once a while post promotions like in early this year where I wrote about CNY offers and recently about Citibank.

Recently I posted that ALL Citibank cardholders enjoy 1 for 1 free movie tickets at TGV every Saturdays and Sundays.

Today I went to TGV and found out I can purchase tickets for coming Sunday and maximum 2 tickets for 2 free tickets with my Citibank Platinum. My wife got another 2 tickets with her PremierMiles Visa Signature, therefore total 6 tickets for the price of 3 smile.gif

depends on your statement date but I guess usually the following month. Call them during the anniversary month.

Just posted a short article on my RHB Plat credit card. Article is really short as there is really nothing much to talk about it, haha. But I did receive RM50 cash back from them for spending with it, so at least that can cover the GST for another year. Click below link to read more.

it will take a year or so lah. Same thing for my EON Bank Visa Signature, wonder if HLB will maintain the product. One thing for sure, after the mergers are finalized, I will have 2 less credit cards, haha

combined CL is ok with me, it is the card features that I want. For example HLB Platinum card is really useless in my case whereas the EON Visa Signature do have many features that I want. As for the RHB card, I couldn't careless, haha

I just received a call claimed to be from Maybank, informing me that someone is using my card to charge 2K transaction for Takaful. He wanted to stop the transaction but need to verify my card number & expiry date for verification purpose. Then, asked me to give my card number & exipry date.

I called back MBB card CS to investigate. No such transaction ever recorded in their system.

Please be alert of this fraud.

milentechie, thanks for sharing. If they really from MBB, why the do need you card number as it will be shown in their system.
Can you also post and state the number in this Thread on phone calls.

Need some help from you guys, I am writing an article and going to touch on interest rate being imposed onto outstanding balance. I thought I give an example. But, I really don't know how it works in detail. Below is the example I have thought off, please comment.

Say you did a Transaction on 5th May 2011 for RM10,000. Your Statement Date is 10th May 2011 and your Due Date is 30th May 2011. Therefore, the minimum amount Due is RM500 (5% of RM1000).

You pay RM200 on 30th May 2011. Which means you have outstanding Balance of RM9,500 not cleared and carried forward.

I believe the interest charges are calculated as follows, I might be death wrong, but it will not be far off.

Interest charges up to 30th May 2011 = 17.5% x RM10,000 x 25/365 = RM119.86

Therefore outstanding Balance as of 30th May 2011 after you pay RM500 = RM10,000 + RM119.86 -RM500 = RM9619.86

So from 30th May 2011 onwards, you will be imposed interest calculated as follows:

RM9,619.86 x 17.5% x (days/365)

AND if you make another RM2,000 transaction on 5th June, additional interest charges will be added as follows:

RM2000 x 17.5% x (days/375) commencing from 5th June 2011.

So come end of 30th June 2011, your interest charges will be:

RM9619.86 x 17.5% x (30days/365) = RM138.37
+ RM2000 x 17.5% x (24days/365) = RM23.01

and total Out Standing Balance as of 30th June will be 2011 =
RM9619.86+RM2,000+RM138.37+RM23.01 = RM11,781.24

Is the above correct? Comments are most appreciated.

I am not clear of the interests calculation either, but I believe there is a typo there. Pay RM500, right? Looking forward to this particular blog post  smile.gif
*
Thanks for pointing it out. I actually started with RM1000 balance but the interest was like too low to be of any concern. So up the amount to RM10K.

QUOTE(erry- @ Jun 4 2011, 01:12 AM)
btw i have no idea about interest calculation coz always pay full. even i just joking to pay min or half, my wife threat to kill me! haha sweat.gif
*
OT: wah wife threaten you. Not good. Maybe ask you wife to join the Obedient Wife Club and then she'll obey you, hahaha

QUOTE(charymsylyn @ Jun 4 2011, 07:58 PM)
Note that credit card interest is calculated daily on compounded basis, so while your example isn't very wrong at the start, the error margin will get bigger as time passes.
*
I get what you mean, Maybe I should continue with another second payment to "reset" the interest calculation again. I guess if based on monthly, then amount would not differ much.
