QUOTE(Human Nature @ May 30 2011, 12:35 PM)
Hi guys, I would like to ask a few things on pledging FD to secure credit card facilitities:

1. Is there any difference from the normal FD plan in terms the published interest rate?
It will follow the board rate.

QUOTE(Human Nature @ May 30 2011, 12:35 PM)
2. Is there any deposit period that we have to adhere to, for example MUST be 60 months?
Can be as short as one month but withdrawal is not possible as long as the card is still active.

QUOTE(Human Nature @ May 30 2011, 12:35 PM)
3. What happen to the card if we withdraw/close the FD account upon the maturity period? It will get withdrawn?
You won't be able to withdraw or close the pledged FD account until your credit card is canceled.

QUOTE(Human Nature @ May 30 2011, 12:35 PM)
4. If I have deposited an amount that meets the minimum pledging amount say 1-2 months ago, can I request for the card facility now? Or it has to be processed at the same time as the deposit.
Can be processed at the same time or on a later date. And yes. I have experienced all this myself nod.gif

If Citibank have some sort of auto annual fee waiver like swipe 12 times, sure more people will consider it as save us time calling CS for waiver.
Spot on !

QUOTE(Human Nature @ Jun 20 2011, 04:10 PM)
Just discovered that for FD pledging to secure credit card facilitities, there are lien charges imposed based on the credit limit.  blush.gif  sweat.gif
For some banks may be ... but definitely not for HSBC.

Guys, since the new credit card ruling is already in effect now. Any idea if we still can apply for credit card using an existing credit card that is more than 1-year old as reference ?

Thanks for the response! Recently Citibank is upgrading the Platinium to the PremierMiles.
I don't get you. What do you mean by Citibank is upgrading Platinum to PremierMiles ? Citi PremierMiles card, despite being a VISA Signature card, is actually a class lower than the regular Platinum credit card in Citibank Malaysia system.

I guess I am one of them who got the upgrade. I am still contemplating if I should make the move. I have no use of the points in my platinum now as the points are collected way faster through my AMEX Gold CC so wondering if I should just for the sake of getting a VS.....opinions? I do travel quite abit due to my work nature and the non expiry miles sound like a good deal. Getting a free trip every other decade sounds pretty cool. biggrin.gif
Can this really be considered an upgrade ? Because if one were to apply for the Citibank PremierMiles VISA Signature using a salary slip, the salary required is actually lower than Citibank VISA/MasterCard Platinum. I personally see this more like a second card rather than a upgrade. Just my RM0.02 smile.gif

+1. Personally I don't see this as an upgrade too and yes ... the qualifications criteria is lower.  Given the choice of reward system, I still think MBB offer better value.  Perceived prestige is not there as anyone can get it.
Yeah. Maybankard Duo is kind of the it card now. Citibank credit card is just not what it was anymore.

I can foresee that mostly the questions will be about annual fee waiver basing on previous posts here.
And don't charge courier fee for all shipments to East Malaysia. Last time i checked, East Malaysia is still a part of the Federation of Malaysia. For starter, banks such as HSBC and Maybank never charge any fee for rewards redemption shipped to East Malaysia.

I just found out that CIMB Preferred customers will get a complimentary World MasterCard, VISA Infinite, VISA Signature or Enrich Platinum MasterCard instead of just a regular Platinum credit card.

I thought it was RM150K, alexwsk, time to revise 1st post.
Yes. They revised it to RM200k in January this year.

CIMB Bank offers really competitive interest rates for its range of CASA. However, i still don't get why they still force their customers to pay RM10 every half year as current account maintenance fee regardless of the balance in the account, be it a regular current account or Preferred current account rclxub.gif

QUOTE(hye @ Jul 16 2011, 08:41 AM)
Just cancelled my Citibank card yesterday coz I don't think it's worthwhile to keep.

I was forwarded to the Card Cancellation and Retention Officer and of course the girl's job is to persuade me not to cancel the card. What were the topics of discussion ?

- PremierMiles card benefit.
- MAS discounts
- Platinum card features
- Points
- Exchange rate

Spent a good 30 minutes on the phone. The girl tried but was overwhelmed with my counter "discussion" especially of the various forex cc rates practiced by all banks. SCB being the highest and MBB being the lowest - everyone else falls in between. Points system also got a good lengthy discussion - I focused on Enrich points conversion and MBB 5x points system.

There were times she was  shocking.gif . I think bro MilesAndMore, Gen-X need to be hired by Citibank to revamp their promos. Then only their cards will fly again  wink.gif
I hope the phone conversation was recorded so she can play it to everyone in the Citibank credit card department laugh.gif

QUOTE(kezman @ Jul 16 2011, 11:47 PM)
can my supplementary card be link to my existing CimbClicks account????or I need to make a new account for the cc??
need it to view my account transaction...
Supplementary card ? I don't think so.

QUOTE(Gen-X @ Jul 17 2011, 10:39 PM)
Also used my CIMB WMC to get free flat white at Dome for dinner and then later 10% discount at Alexis for tiramisu and meringue at The Gardens. If you guys go to The Garden Flying Chillies Thai restaurant where CIMB and Citibank cards get 15% and 10% discount respectively, you must try their sizzling butter prawn (Miles, as good as the Ocean in KK).

Sounds delicious! Will try it out next time i go to KL biggrin.gif
