I just found out that CIMB Preferred customers will get a complimentary World MasterCard, VISA Infinite, VISA Signature or Enrich Platinum MasterCard instead of just a regular Platinum credit card.
*
If only they would offer the CIMB Enrich World Mastercard to Preferred customers. Stringent vetting process still. Existing CIMB Enrich Platinum Mastercard with minimum spending of RM 500,000 per annum will be considered. Note "will be considered" meaning no assurance even if you do spend that much!

TS please update first post now CIMB no longer accepts credit card application via the "prompt" method (premier cards). Full income documents required for submission since April this year. I just dropby the Card Centre in Pavilion just now to enquire.

I have a feeling Maybank will be launching their Visa Infinite very soon. I can see Visa Infinite and Visa Infinite Ikhwan on the list of payee for Maybank Credit Cards on maybank2u already. Interesting..

Maybank has removed 'Visa Infinite' from the list of payee of Maybankard Credit Card in M2U.

According to insider, Maybank is scheduled to launch the American Express Centurion Charge Card (dubbed Jedi card internally) before launching the Visa Infinite.

Any idea?

Out of curiosity:

Do banks still accept credit card application using the "prompt" method without full income doc submission? I thought BNM made a ruling since few months back applications using this method is no longer accepted?

income requirement poses a major hurdle for me to add to My Credit Cards collection. I wonder if I will get calls from marketing department offering pre-approved card like when they called me last year offering WMC.
i was shocked just now my maybank vi arrived today without me applying (pre approved). they increased my CL by 50% from existing maybank wmc.

"in appreciation of your continuous support bla bla bla"

There a thread on GST, go check it out. Anyway, no harm trying to request for it, you never know. But if you want to cancel the card, then the chances of them offering you something to offset the GST is there, but it will be back to square one next year. But if it is a HSBC card, no need to waste time.

To All: I got my new VI today that I have been wanting for a long time smile.gif But, it does not have many benefits....

Congratulations on the SCB VI! A very special card indeed!

Since you're quite seasoned with premium cards from various banks, would you mind to rank your CL from highest to lowest of the cards that you currently hold? (that is if you really don't mind, no need to mention amount just the discreet hint like you always do in your blogs eg. can buy entry level rolex etc haha.).

Alamak sorry sorry! I didn't realize you wanted me to post the pic of my MBB VI. Left the card in the office, didn't even take it off from the envelope LOL. I will snap when I'm back to work after Diwali? Nothing special la. Looks just like the MBB WMC but with Visa logo instead haha.

I'm pretty sure they will call you and offer you pre approved one soon. I was having lunch with a friend just now when his phone rang and the bank offered him pre approved MBB VI (at the moment he is holding conventional generic MBB Visa Plat). Surely your call will come in no time! Hehe.

Wow! The 5th to 12th numbers really nice. Never seen a card where 5th to 8th numbers are 0000. Surface looks like matt type from the pic.

Thanks Bro.

I thought I was the only one who thought of that. LOL. Yes me too, I've never seen a card whose 5th to 8th numbers are 0000.

As for the 9th to 12th numbers '3000' is a norm for the first batch of a premium card issued by maybank followed by '3001' then '3002' and so on. If you see any Maybank premium card with '2000' as the 9th to 12th numbers, the cardholder is a Maybank staff. My Maybank WMC also has '3000' as the 9th to 12th numbers.

When Maybank first launched the generic Visa Platinum card back in 2001, the first series started with '3000' too smile.gif

How about a card which 9th to 12th are 0000 ?

I had this a few years ago when CIMB Islamic sent me a pre approved mastercard platinum which I have already cancelled.

"5213 9500 0000 xxxx"

CIMB's practice is to start off a new card type with "0000" for 9th to 12th numbers. This is evident in most of their card offerings. I have seen this myself in the case of CIMB Enrich WMC, WMC, VI and even Enrich Platinum.

My article on Premier Cards had to take a back seat last weekend as I was on a mission.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Just posted my article titled Malaysia Premier Credit Cards - Which Is The Best For You?

In my article Entry Level Credit Cards - Which Is The Best For You? I have mentioned what I thought was the worst credit card in Malaysia.

In my article Platinum Credit Cards - Which Is Best For You? some may not agree with my choice of Highest Rank Plat cards.

Before you go read my final article on series of different categories of CC, please take a moment to think what your answers will be to the following questions:

1. In your opinion, what card is the Most Prestigious Credit Card in Malaysia?
2. In your opinion, what card is the Most Exclusive Credit Card in Malaysia?
3. In your opinion, what cards gives you "status"?
4. In your opinion, which card proves that you have reached the epitome of success?

Once you have identified the cards above,  click here to read my article Malaysia Premier Credit Cards - Which Is The Best For You? and see if I share your opinions  tongue.gif

Excellent article! I enjoyed reading it and so will many forummers here.

I agree the most prestigious credit cards in town are the two you mentioned: RHB Visa Infinite and CIMB Enrich WMC. Being in an industry where i'm privileged enough to see the truly wealthy flash their plastics, I can testify these two cards are most often used by the creme de la creme. They're not your average millionaires but more often multi millionaires or even billionaires.

As for the case of CIMB WMC and VI's minimum CL, i know a friend who has 60k CL, therefore effectively reducing the minimum CL of this card to <100k smile.gif

A further check with CIMB Banks confirms that existing CIMB Enrich Platinum cardholder may request to be "invited" for the CIMB Enrich WMC subject to annual spending of RM 500k> on their existing card. Of course this is subject to final management approval. There is a special department in the bank in charge of handling cardholders and invitations of CIMB Enrich WMC headed by a wise gentleman who goes by the name of Michael Wee. It has come to my knowledge this gentleman has the final say when it comes to the invitation and approval of CIMB Enrich WMC.

Having said that, since i'm one of those Enrich miles junkie, the best card that suits me is still MBB WMC and possibly MBB VI where the conversion rate is second to none.

Off topic, I must also say another favourite among these truly wealthy individuals is the American Express Platinum Charge Card (since the ultra exclusive Centurion Black Card isn't going to be available in Malaysia until Jan 2012). I am guessing it has to do with the fact that it does not have pre-set spending limit therefore allowing them to go beyond the CLs of their existing other premier credit cards and the fact that by using this charge card is a testament that they are paying in full and not going to stretch the payment for that particular splurge. This also boils down to the fact that in order to obtain the American Express Platinum Charge Card, a strong bank statement balance is required in addition to the standard payslips and BE Form as required by other card issuer. In other words even if you are earning RM 50k monthly but your bank statement is not strong and your balance is low, there is no way you are going to get it.

As for AMEX Plat Charge Card - I was offered to upgrade to it without any request of docs. But being a cheapskate, I prefer to go with FREE fakes AMEX Black cards  tongue.gif And as for no pre-set spending limit, that is not true, more like post set credit limit where it increases with your spending and payment pattern. All charge AMEX charge card (maybe except the Black Card) has spending limit. I guess you forgot about your case where you posted that your transaction for a RM100K watch was initially rejected by AMEX until you "taruk" them left right center, hahaha. My Gold Charge Card credit line is even higher than some of my Premier Cards.
*
Yes, my point exactly with regards to the american express platinum charge card.

Last month, I happened to be in Starhill browsing through watches when I heard a loud outburst from another part of the boutique. It was the boss of a certain airlines whose flight initials begins with AK giving a piece of his mind to the customer service exec of amex because they declined when he tried to charge RM 700k for watch at the shop. In that course of conversation he even threatened to cancel his Amex Plat Charge Card (yes, he mentioned amex plat charge card LOL). Apparently the charge was approved immediately hahaha.

That's the beauty of amex charge card. No pre set spending limit but as they famously stated in their promotional material and brochures "You can spend as much as you have shown us what you can afford". They have what they termed as "shadow credit limit". After the "taruking" incident, the "shadow credit limit" they accorded me is higher than any of my premier cards. Sometimes just knowing you have such spending power makes you feel good. Again, this is for Syiok Sendiri sake la. Hehehe.

Like you, many are offered the platinum charge card but refused since they don't think paying RM 2380 justifies. In these cases, they are most often upgraded to "Gold Charter Member".

As for CIMB WMC CL, I guess now that the card is offered via Preffered Banking, it only make sense that the CL be reduced.
You're right. I've checked with him and he said he got his CIMB WMC when he became a CIMB Preferred customer. Before that, he was holding CIMB Enrich Platinum with 15k CL smile.gif

Proven then CIMB has decided to lower the minimum CL for its generic CIMB DA WMC and VI..

You do not really need to become SCB Preferred Banking customer in order to get SCB Preferred WMC. However, if you apply for this WMC without becoming SCB Preferred Banking customer, the WMC you get will only earn x1 Choice Point, not x1.5 or x2 Choice Points.
Thank you for correcting.
