Maybankard 2 Cards - FREE FOR LIFE
Click here to read my review of Maybankard 2 Gold Card
The MBB2 AMEX good for Petrol on Saturdays and Sundays as you can earn up to 7.5% returns not including reward points from the petrol card. Click here to Petrol Thread.

The MBB 2 Visa/MasterCard is accepted at many places for installment plans - e.g. DELL

You can also consider OCBC Titanium MasterCard (Income Requirement RM36K/year) where you earn 5% cash back everyday at ALL Petrol stations but places accepting it for installment plan is less than Maybank. Annual fee waived with 12 swipes. Click here for OCBC Titanium MasterCard versus Maybankard 2 Cards versus UOB One Card

Go get OCBC Titanium MasterCard and once you get that - Change your MBB Petronas Ikhwan to MBB 2 Cards because the OCBC will earn you more even at Petronas . Read the links I posted above in my reply Hevrn.

or click below link to read my latest article where I have links to the OCBC TMC and MBB 2 Cards.

First thing go get OCBC Titanium MasterCard and earn 5% cash back for your Petrol at ALL stations and for dining too. As for Hotel, if you stay in 3 Star and above, they should accept AMEX, so get Maybankard 2 Cards where the AMEX earns you 5X Treats Points which is way better than your SCB Plat in terns of returns.

Once again click the above links to read more about the cards.

I dont exactly spend RM5k a month. I mentioned occasionally. I have some part time job running errands so i can manage at most 1k. The one u recommend is way over the top. I'm kinda looking at credit card from Maybank. To be specific, among the credit card in Maybank and CIMB, which one charges the least(%) when conducting oversea online shopping?

Also, if i dont have a salary slip, can i just like show the bank a fully loaded ASB book? Will they allow me to apply for credit card as a student?

You do know in order to get a supplementary card, you will need a principal card? That could be anyone that you know, as long as they are willing to give you a supplementary credit card. You must be 18 and above.
I got mine when I was a student, no issue. My sister gave me a supplementary card.

Sorry if my message was unclear. I read about 'Balance Transfer' and seems that I got confused.

Say that I want to ditch my EON Visa card and transfer everything to a new bank, say Maybank or CIMB, that is called Balance Transfer right? I need to apply for a new card with them only then the balance transfer would take place? Any recommendations of any cards that I should opt?

Cheers.

If Petrol is you main expenses, then get the UOB One Card

If you watch movies on Fridays then consider Citibank Clear Card, but it is not a cash back card.

Currently CIMB got no Balance Transfer Plan. Yes, you need to apply for a new card for Balance Transfer. Since you mentioned Petrol as a requirement, UOB One Card and OCBC Titanium MasterCard where you can earn 5% cash back. However, I am not sure if these two cards have any Balance Transfer Plans at the moment.

Goto M2U to see the requirements and then go to the branch you got savings account with and seek further info. But I got a strong feeling because your Contract only one year, I don't think Maybank is going to issue you any credit card. Ask if you can pledge FD.

Hi there, this is my first time applying for credit card. I would like to know what is the major difference between Visa and MasterCard? From what I was told, there are no major differences, just that Visa is more recognize, please correct me if I'm wrong. I do travel occasionally and I would normally do monthly installment on certain purchases especially on electrical stuff and gadgets. I do not need rebate for petrol at the moment. Thanks for your time =D

Firstly, there is no such thing as the Best credit card. It depends entirely on where you spend your money and what you want in return. Having said that, click below link to read my article on best credit cards

The Best Top 10 Credit Cards in Malaysia 2012

If you are talking about overseas transactions, there is a slight difference between the conversion rates when comparing Visa versus MasterCard. Click below link and read 1st page and then for MBB Visa vs MC, go read jchong and zenquix post from post#170 onwards. If you ask me, most places that accept Visa also accept MasterCard. But, if kiasu like me, get Visa and MasterCard biggrin.gif

http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1845691

And since you spend RM1K to RM2K, recommend you click below and read more on the following cards and then get both the cards.

OCBC Titanium MasterCard - you earn 5% cash back everyday for Petrol, Groceries, Telco Bills, TNB, Astro & Dining but the cash back is capped at RM50/month

Maybank 2 Cards - the MBB 2 AMEX earns you 5X Treats Points everyday PLUS additional 5% Cash back on Saturdays and Sundays. Once again, the 5% cash back is capped at RM50/month. The Maybank 2 Visa or MasterCard is accepted at many places for installment plans.

If you travel overseas often, better to get cards from 2 different card issuers just in case one can't go thru.

And since you are new to credit cards, click below link to read more:
