is this really an upgraded persona or new model?

decided to do my 15k service outside after seeing my service booklet only got 20k service and no 15k. So no need waste time at Proton service center. Ask the mechanic to not fully pour all 4l, but he insist want pour 4l. and say that if pour ngam ngam at max, when engine start the lub level will drop below max. Since i'm paying so he got no choice but to do as my request.. lol... i guess they forgot about what they learn in primary science class when it's hot it'll expand. Same goes to Lub?no?

i used to stick 80% back in my homtown las time...sarawakians got all their cars tinted super black!

Hi all, I have a few questions regarding PE. Hopefully experts here can clear my doubt.

1) If I were to maintain my car's warranty, do I need to send my car to Proton SC for 15k km service (i.e. 25k, 35k etc)? I noticed they cop at the back of my service booklet for my 15k km.

2) Does changing to performance air filter and spark plugs void my car's warranty? How about using own lube (assuming the proton SC allows me to bring own lube)

3) My PE is one of the earliest batch (I bought when it's just launched). One morning I couldn't start my car. After trying a few times (step on gas pedal and let off, then crank), it worked...the rpm was low..and engine chocking like no air. I stepped on the gas pedal and it's OK afterward...but the "check engine" icon on the dashboard lightened up. I drove to an authorized SC immediately and they diagnosed the ECU. They told me to go main Proton SC to upgrade my ECU firmware. Anyone of you faced this problem before?

I love my PE so damn much.. Received it on July 23rd.. It clocks 36++km today.. Each km makes me loving it even more.. It handles good.. Nice power to weight ratio.. Plush leather seats.. Roomy interior & luggage compartment.. Damn good ABS brakes.. Nicely designed front & rear bumpers.. Sporty alloy rims & tail light.. Stylish meter cluster.. It can hit 180kmh below 5k rpm.. 4 times free service summore..

1. have to send to SC to maintain your warranty. your warranty cover until 50k. so you have to go back until 50k. If you got extended warranty until 175k provided by alliance insurance then you need to go back to SC until 175k. Service it outside will void your warranty. The booklet can change once it finish. Don worry.

2.No because it is wear and tear item for Air filter and Spark plug. For lub will void warranty. But most of us here don care. Some of us bring our own lub also. Don use cheap lub can already.

3. I am driving Persona not Elegance. Try check your crank sensor and ask them to check your ECU also. PE got ECU bug and need to flash to newer firmware. Go main Proton SC at your state and upgrade. Upgrade time i think is 2hours if no internet break down.

1. I did my 15k outside as well just make sure use back proton oil filter, until now my car still in warranty but going to end on tuesday

2. Doesn't void.

3. Check battery, crank sensor, fuel pump, maybe upgrade ECU firmware..
btw, the chocking it seem happen to me as well.. now I need leave my car overnight to let them check..
They suspect something has spoil on engine

the persona brake pedal needs to be pressed a lot, only then the braking effect can be felt....which is unlike other car.

is that normal?

It happen to me when using bendix..
I need tap few time before braking..
After I change to new brake pad, I just press once.

Cannot. Max u can get around 100 whp only. Cos I've seen an auto PE tried to install a high cam before, the car can't really idle.

Cost? Camshafts, ACP alone cost close to RM 3k d for our PE.

Too high meh? 262 only lo.. Can't idle, the car keep mati enjin nia.

Added on August 14, 2011, 10:45 amDon't be disheartened.. This 1 is probably Persona Replacement, but there's also some news circulating that this Persona R is not really a replacement to the current PE. Just like how everyone thought Inspira is gonna be Waja replacement, and it didn't.

Same lah. With heat it expands. Those mechanics learn what they know from what they 'heard', not what they've learnt through proper education..

Thanks for answering. At 20k km service, if not mistaken, we need to change air filter and spark plug. Can I reject theirs?
I had sent my car to upgrade the firmware. I haven't notice much changes (in fact I noticed the engine a bit heavier after that). Hopefully it solved it. They didn't check my crank sensor though. Are they manage to diagnose that part?

How do you know it's still under warranty? You asked the SC whether 15k (and also 25k, 35k etc) km is mandatory to be serviced by them? If do outside, much cheaper?

If crank sensor got problem, it will show fault code on ECU..
I just diam diam go outside service, don't tell them lo..
Now my car 26k already.. claimed many item after 15k service at outside..
Yup. It's cheaper to service outside..
