By any chance, did you tried to shoot them from the same spot using both lenses and then compare the "angle" ? shocking.gif shocking.gif shocking.gif

Note: Best if the body sets on a tripod to ensure no position change during the test.

Okay, you're wrong.

Both are 50mm focal length, they have the same field of view.

Both my 85mm and 70200 have 77mm thread, but it isn't as wide as my 1635 which has also 77mm thread ;-).

Well indirectly speaking, usually ultra wide angle lens have bigger filter thread, and with some lens such as 14-24 does not have filter thread at all.

duno, i think it is like car's milestone meter..you can reset but your engine still "used" for a time being? so in the end the shutter mechanism still need to be change?

Hey guys, havent been here for awhile...  sweat.gif

I know this is not a common lens but can anyone give me a general idea on how much a 2nd hand nikkor 300mm f2.8 vrii cost nowadays? hmm.gif

Thanks in advance. smile.gif
Wah... I've not seen a VR II being sold as 2nd hand yet. But the VR I can be as high as RM 12k for 2nd hand.

BTW, how's the 14-24mm f/2.8 been treating you? biggrin.gif

That one is AF-D. Slow. I would at least get the AF-S Mk 1 or Mk 2 (non VR) version.

YL Camera will have these type of lenses from time to time. Currently, there is the AF-S 400mm f/2.8 (non VR) for sale at RM 17,800 (nego).

Wah... Somebody's diligently watching. shocking.gif

I think you can find better copies of the older AF version on Ebay.

ya, cos i was remotely interested in that 300mm.
but the scratches were abit visible from the pics previously posted, i'm taking a wild guess that i think shashinki may have had the front element polished to change the minor scratches to hairline tongue.gif
anyway 300mm f/4 is still a more sensible purchase, rm3.9k brand new tongue.gif

RM 3.9k for the 300mm f/4 is not too bad. Where did you get it from?

Yeah, forgot to add that as a slightly "cheaper" alternative rolleyes.gif , one can get the Sigma 120-300mm f/2.8 zoom with OS built-in.
