QUOTE(MPIK @ Jul 14 2011, 09:47 AM) This is why working in SG sometimes got pros and cons too lo. but then again, does your mom want to come down or not, to be away from other relative I think most biggest setback is need to stay away from your good buddies and family members. Indeed for me, I need to deferred my marriage for another 2 yrs to 27 just bcos I wanted to work in SG and I rush back to KL every month after work just to have a look at my mum. I wish I can bring them all to SG one day too if I got myself a property here in the future. everybody here have the same dream like u |

QUOTE(crazy25kid @ Jul 14 2011, 09:39 AM) Actually, with this, you can definitely bring your wife down. It all boils down to where is your work place and where you going to stay in JB. If your work place in Jurong and you stay in places like Tmn Pelangi in JB, it's actually nearer that traveling to Sengkang or Punggol. Another factor is the traveling time, shift work timing unlikely to encounter jam at checkpoint but office work might.Cost of living in JB while earning SGD is definitely affordable, just your travel time will be VERY long. However, there is just one problem, if you do not have relatives in JB. Imagine you have to rush from SG back to your wife whenever there is an emergency. |

QUOTE(I-Kurosaki @ Jul 13 2011, 10:29 PM) thx for all of your feedbacks guys, this has help to firm up my decision. I will be working in SG alone, while my wife will stay back in KL if the deal falls thru. She wont be alone at home, parents will accompany her. She will live her life like normal, except that I wont be by her side on weekdays, this sucks. But before that, both of us have to sit down and discuss thoroughly. Bro, are you working in FMC Technologies based in Gul Circle, Jurong? The cost of living for a married couple in SG is too much to bear, especially the rental already set me back at least $1.5k. Plan to bring my car down SG, but its impossible unless I stay in JB, after reading the earlier posts. Time to brush my nego skills, hehe. Btw, anyone has come across this company, FMC Technologies? How are the working environment and benefits? OOT, this thread is super active man, only 1 day difference already increase another 4 pages. |

Yes i have come across FMC and their competitors in the field of subsea manifolds and assemblys. I used to do inspections for a competitor of theirs and a large number of employees of this company are ex-fmc staff. The cost of living for a married couple in SG is too much to bear, especially the rental already set me back at least $1.5k. Smth to ask, for anyone who did their E pass and S pass before.. (Apply for both passes in an application, if the E pass application failed, they will automatically apply S pass)
when check by MOM website, will it showing "Pass Type : EMPLOYMENT PASS" ? or showing "EMPLOYMENT PASS AND S PASS"? This post has been edited by francisbacon7: Jul 14 2011, 12:58 PM |

QUOTE(seantang @ Jul 14 2011, 09:18 AM) They definitely can track your activity if they wanted to. But they generally don't act without a complaint from the copyright owner. Download porn lah. Zero chance that the porn company will make a report and even if they do, the mda won't act. Really???? I tot porn is illegal here as it is in M'sia or as least legally speaking... Added on July 14, 2011, 2:01 pm QUOTE(jungyu @ Jul 13 2011, 03:50 PM) From a reader's POV, I think your statement reflects that you're some sort of big shot from some HUMONGOUS MNC(the rest not good enough for you even the SG ones). If you are not and made such a statement, why would you want to trap a Harvard in your tiny company? Please do not waste their time and they really do want to get their investment back. "HUMONGOUS MNC" - That's yr assumption. I never said i was. "If you are not and made such a statement, why would you want to trap a Harvard in your tiny company?" - I dun know what yr trying to say?????Replying your unconstructive post is definitely wasting my phone battery but I really do hope you can at least have some virtue like modesty perhaps? I'm only giving my view for those who wants to listen, otherwise you can chose to ignore. If you want to, go ahead, who's stopping you? It not my problem.... QUOTE(mercury8400 @ Jul 14 2011, 01:53 PM) Porn is totally legal here...This is why the SG gomen did not ban the new URL standard for eg: www.fark.xxx (new .xxx for porn sites in 2012 instead of .com) Prostitute is oso legal in SG. But in Malaysia, all are illegal. Malaysia BOLEH |
