dont worry

i know a person that came to work in sg less than 183 days last yr plus he travelled overseas most of the time he got the resident tax rate...  which is much lower

he too was worried about the same thing but turned out fine

183 days includes weekends, public holidays, etc.

Travelling overseas for work purpose is still considered working. Hence you count the days (including the overseas travelling) and its more than 183 days, you still get taxed as resident.

I havent decided, still looking for details for the courses I want. I am interested in property management and business but I was studying and am working in the field of construction management and ID works. Will they reject if I have irrelevant knowledge?

From an employer perspective, unless yr MBA is from the TOP unis (i.e. Harvard, INSEAD, etc) the rest are just not worth getting (even the local SG ones) You can never hope to get back yr investments if its not from the TOP unis. Might as well spend time working to get more experience and hopefully get more money instead of wasting it.

They definitely can track your activity if they wanted to. But they generally don't act without a complaint from the copyright owner. Download porn lah. Zero chance that the porn company will make a report and even if they do, the mda won't act.
*
Really????
I tot porn is illegal here as it is in M'sia or as least legally speaking...

From a reader's POV, I think your statement reflects that you're some sort of big shot from some HUMONGOUS MNC(the rest not good enough for you even the SG ones). If you are not and made such a statement, why would you want to trap a Harvard in your tiny company? Please do not waste their time and they really do want to get their investment back.
Replying your unconstructive post is definitely wasting my phone battery but I really do hope you can at least have some virtue like modesty perhaps?
*
"HUMONGOUS MNC" - That's yr assumption. I never said i was. "If you are not and made such a statement, why would you want to trap a Harvard in your tiny company?" - I dun know what yr trying to say?????

I'm only giving my view for those who wants to listen, otherwise you can chose to ignore. If you want to, go ahead, who's stopping you? It not my problem.... doh.gif

QUOTE(Tigerr @ Jul 22 2011, 12:08 PM)
At the start, you shall learn to take bus/MRT/Taxi to go around. To maintain a car is expensive here, just the monthly HDB parking fee in a multi storey car park is $90 and the fuel around $2.00/liters and the parkings fees and the ERP(TOLL) charges and the car services/maintanance fees and if kena traffic summons....headahce.... rclxub.gif

It is not hard to mix around as there are lots of people like you in Singapore. You can hang out with those forumers here which they may have gatherings altough i have never joined them before. Also, can go join some activities at their community center if they accept you. Can dance aerobic with the uncle/aunties there, may be got taichi, wing chun. tongue.gif , also, can join the local people for some basketball/badminton/ping pong games. Also can hang out at the shopping malls for movies.
*
but i dun like the malls here...all of them very small and sempit... even for vivocity the supposely biggest mall in SG when compare to midvalley or 1u i think no comparison....

Get a set of bogus Malaysian rego plates and some double-sided tape. Tape it on in your garage, drive slowly to the nearest petrol station & fill, and then drive home and remove. Make sure no accident or police block, you'll be okay. If there's a petrol station at the end of your jalan, that'll be perfect.

Where to get 1K note... RM and S$? I've never held one in my hands.

That's why I hate doing large transactions in cash... it's always only 50 buck notes available, sometimes 100 on rare occasions. Anything more than a couple thousand is a big wad of notes to carry around.
*
Got, I saw SGD1k note before. Go casino... sure can see...

- Accountants in China : RM 100,000 per annum

- Accountants in Australia : RM 160,000 per annum

what's yr point?
u can't compare like dat.
U must also take into account the cost of living.
In china (esp Beijing & Shanghai) and Aus not all that rosy despite the conversion.

Aus- hard to get a job if yr not white, taxes could amount to 30% of pay, medicare is complusory - whether u want or not, gov hospital is slow and private one is expensive (just like in M'sia), Aussies are getting more hostile to asians over the years because they percieve us as threat to their ricebowl.

China - COst of living in cities are super expensive, housing is crazy (more crazy than SG), people are rude and no manners, safety is a concern, food sux, weather sux

Walau, where did this come from?
I am NOT rich, repeat NOT rich....
If I am I'll probably be in M'sia, no need come to work in SG.
If yr rich, M'sia is heaven...kill people also no wrong (refer to Altantuya & Teoh Beng Hock)...hahahaha

Nope. I didnt scold her.
Today in the phone call, i verified with her whether it is true or not that the appeal is rejected.
And then she asked me whether i can apply permit myself, i told her nicely that i cant.
And at the end of the call, she said that she will help me to call up MOM again and hopefully can update me by this week.
I am absolutely very frustrated but i didnt scold her. Somemore i said thank you to her at the end.
I am thinking of wana called up the HR manager or hiring manager to draw their attention.
Btw, i am also wondering is it possible  the HR tipu me that she has appealed while she didnt help me to appeal?
cz she said rejected but i cant see in EPonline.
*
Allow me to indulge in some bashing wink.gif

1) You speak as though you have the explicit right to work in Singapore and all others, such as your hiring manager/HR/MOM should "assist" you to get the relevant pass here.... Hello....you're a foreigner....no different from all the China and Indian people (well educated with degree and willing to work for peanuts btw) who came by the dozens to SG for a better future. Some (i was told) were willing to even absorb the EP/Work permit charges. So the question is what makes you so "special?"

2) You mentioned that you were an "intern" to be converted to permanant and that the company should benefit by hiring you...SAYS WHO??? Like I said there are thousands upon thousands of new entry i.e. people from China/India/even Europeans all with experience or fresh from University willing to work for less than your current pay and harder than you...

3) He explicitly told you to try applying EP/WP for yourself. So you can either 1) Apply yourself 2) Forget about it and move on. It has been made as clear as crystal.

4) no need for your HR to tipu-tipu. Yr a fresh grad with 4 months intern experience. Yr a dime a dozen.... (see reason 1)

Bottom line is this ain't your country. Your a foreigner. They do NOT care about you at all...either you accept that fact and work around it or you balik negara sendiri.....No loss for them at all....
