Hi, im newbie here. I really2 do need helps n hoping sumbody here could help me regarding my probs.
B4 dis, i used to be a die hard fans of Toshiba lappy. My whole family were also the same. I've selled my old lappy, toshiba L100-P448 n im planning to get a new one. Actually in first place, im thinking of getting Toshiba brand surely but a friend if mine recommended me the IBM/Lenovo. The reason i wanna giv IBM/Lenovo a try coz i not interested in lappy with widescreen n all new models of Toshiba only came with w/screen. Im a student (business studies) so i often used lappy for normal works as Microsoft Office, graphics and i do surf alots. No gaming! My budget juz around rm3500. The only model of Thinkpad tats on my list rite now is: Thinkpad R60-9455A18 -Coreduo T2300 (1.66GHz) -512Mb DDR2 -60GB SATA -CD-RW/DVD Combo -Intel graphic 950 -Freedos =RM2799 and if upgrade the ram to 1GB n add the genuine win XP, totally it will cost me RM3305. So i wanted to know it is worth for me to buy it? With all the spec given? Or did anybody care to recommended me any others lappy (within my budget n nice spec) Thanks!! |

Hi all Thinkpad loyal user,
I have used a thinkpad t-series 5 years ago and love it due to the amazing reliability. Then I join another company and they give me a hp. Hate it so much. Anyway, the new company i will be joining in a month time allow me to chose my notebook with the value up to RM6000. I will definitely chose to get a thinkpad but i am not sure whether i should get the t61 or the r61. My job is a regional, thus i need a fairly lightweight notebook. I love widescreen too and need it due to the many spreadsheet i need to do. Any advice from the expects here are appreciated. |

T61 should be lighter and better overall performance than R61, thus I will choose T61 but with RM 6000 I m not sure can get T61 because I know R61 is selling around RM 5500++ already.

in terms of value, it's the R61 w pricing RM4788 or the T61 w pricing RM6788 (w ext gc)
http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/300490 T series is definitely lighter for ~300g R and T major difference is in the housing quality only - R is plastic (but they are real tough), T is magnesium alloy, and slight differs in features eg fingerprint reader, card reader, webcam etc other than that, they are similar in terms of the quality of electronic items inside it's up to u to decide, whether u wan a cost saving plan, or a top notch quality notebook.. nvr hesitate to get the R series for its cheap price tag, they are very great too, as wat i'm using now, just the housing only if u r running out budget |

i have used the t series 5 years ago and i like the slim and lightness of it. But what you saying is that I will be paying additional 2k for the built material. Not sure whether its worth it or not. All the other features of t61, well...its nice to have but not a must. I can buy accessories for it like the webcam and card reader if i do need them in the future.

haha! i was just trying to tell that, R series is as good as T series!
it's always good to c the demo unit and gets ur own opinion, u may pay a visit at techdos lowyat 3rd floor as well as other branches the 2k difference as the above model will not only be the housing, u'll get fingerprint reader, webcam, extended battery life (extra 2 cell), extra 40gb hdd capacity, dedicated graphic and most importantly additional 2 years warranty the T61 RM6788 model is really worth it in my opinion, comparing to the T61 RM6288 model.. just in case if u r just fine with the spec of the R61, go ahead, RM2k is not a small amount at least for me, i can get another acer or compaq lappy which comes w dvdrw |

Will definitely check it out. But with the 2K different, even though I have the budget from my company to purchase the notebook of my choice, I rather used the 2K for something else.
Thanks for you advice.....U can beat a Thinkpad... |

hi there,
i got one question. i have an age old ibm thinkpad r30 (pentium III 1.0 Ghz with 256 mb RAM (128x2 unit = i checked it using BelArc Prog) and I would like to upgrade the RAM to at least 512 mb or 1Gb RAM. Which Kingston RAM Model i should look for as I understand that pentium III motherboard cannot support more than 256 Mb RAM in a single stick and it has to be 16 chips? Please advise.. thank you... |
