Hey people, if any of you do crunches/sit ups, do you feel like this pain in your tail bone ? It's really quite painful especially when I touch that area. My pilates instructor told me I arch my back too much, she told me to bring my stomach in and up, then sort of lower my butt to bend the tail bone in. Is that true? I didn't know I've been having a wrong posture all this while. Input please! I mean how's your posture like?

Lie flat on the floor, bend your legs at the knees or elevate them on a chair or bench to reduce the arch in your lower back. When you perform the crunch, think about your shoulders moving straight up instead of trying to curl your neck round. The most that should come off the ground is your mid back region, any more and the lower back comes more and more into play, and it turns into a sit up.

Tried to describe it best I can.

Oh and, fold a mat one or two times and place it around the tailbone area so there isn't direct contact with the hard floor.

i had tailbone pain too.

one thing i can say is lay off doing any sort of crunches, situps or anything that have you sitting on the floor

seriously , STOP as soon as possible as it can slowen down the healing process or ever do permanent damage.

once you stopped but still wan to aim for that nice abdominal, one way is to hang yourself from a pull up bar and do leg raises.

after 3-4 months, when the pain is painless only den you should attemp to do ab exercises on the bed

Dan: Hey thanks for the reply. Most of the time my legs are in a table top position so I hope that is okay since its elevated. I like the shoulders up advice cause I think I'm doing the curl neck round thing, I'll try it tomorrow. Do you get this pain too or you do not feel it uh? And also, how's your normal standing position? Like is your stomach in and up and butt like tucked down?

KeithJohnson; Hmm I just wanted to check if I'm doing it right or not and hopefully I can correct maybe my positioning and form. Don't wanna give up on it so fast. I am still a beginner so I do not have the strength to hang myself on the bar and do leg raises some more. Haha thanks for the help though, I used to do it on the bed, but .. I wanted to do it in a more proper way.

I don't know whether to be awe-struck about the crazy weight he's dipping, or the fact that his legs haven't been turned into powder. shocking.gif

I did that ONCE before when I was starting out. My logic was something like 'one's push and one's pull, they'll cancel each other out'. LOL doh.gif

It's ok actually but my volume too high. Should have stuck to just 3 exercises each with lower reps.
