i thought they cant bring in the GDI version to Malaysia or Singapore due to issues with our petrol grade with does not meet the specific EURO standards for GDI tranmissions?

Hi there,

Anybody reckon Naza will bring in the K5 turbo version into Malaysia?
*
There are no 2.0T for right-hand-drive markets in the world right now.

I'm actually secretly wishing that Kia would drop the 2.0T engine into the Koup to make it a true performance car. The Veloster will soon be equipped with the new 1.6T but the Koup deserves more.

No gdi engines until the fuel standard reached euro 4 for low sulphur content which will damage the direct injection system if used with high sulphur fuel like our current euro 2 standard only

TOTALLY AGREED!!    rclxms.gif
And irangan, money well spent  thumbup.gif I like most of the mods u applied, they are not too extreme, nice smile.gif can u upload some photos of the exterior and interior of ur car?
And one question, I heard the m'sia optima's rear light is not really the same as the ones in other countries? If so, in which way?  hmm.gif
*
Wanted to go extreme but on hold due to warranty and wallet issue biggrin.gif

My car nothing special. Those that came for TT saw my car and no difference from them. Cuz most of mod are in stealth mode. Haha.

Then K5 can compare with VW in term of speed smile.gif

dear bro irangan...
wat's the overall outcome for the soundproofing u did? much better noise reduction than changing to PS3 / AS2 tyre?
*
Subjective matters. To me, I felt that my overall driving experience is better now as it is more quiet and our infinity perform much better. If you want to feel the difference, look for me to some tea time and can fetch you around. I work in Klang smile.gif

When I changed my PS3, tyre sounds reduced by around 30-40% from my untrained ears but engine noise became more obvious. Then when I did the SP, it is just nice for me. But there is some room for improvement as I havent do the back portion of the flooring, hood, firewall and wheel arch parts yet.

Will put on hold on the SP first as I am changing my crank pulley and installing stabilizer bars first.

Some of the photo in this post is from my car. Refer Post 1 and Post 7

This is a common issue. Thats why we must be careful. By putting quieter tyres, your engine sound will become more pronounced. So although u may have eradicated most of the road noise but what you get in replacement is a louder engine.

So always have due consideration before changing. The PS3 tyres arent cheap and it will set you back more than RM3K and ull still end up with the same sound levels albeit from a different source.

But then again, the PS3 is also for safety not just sound reduction.

No such thing bro. It's not possible to make the engine louder by cutting out other noises. Each component adds its own noise level to the overall noise.

By cutting down road noise, sure you'll hear the engine better, but the overall noise level has been brought down.

Imagine two people talking at the same time. Suddenly one of them shuts up, does it automatically make the other person louder? No, it merely allows you to clearly hear the person who's still talking.

Sorry to burst your bubble mate, but there's only the 2.4L Optima in Australia. The video that you watched is likely the caradvice one, or the shorter NRMA one, where both features the same Platinum version. Over here Kias are sold as S, Si, SLi, and Platinum variants instead of the North American LX, EX, SX.

In fact, Kia has recently hinted that they are shifting their focus to refining their smaller engines such as the 1.2T and 1.6GDi due to the shift in the global market demand to small cars. Which means even more bad news for the RHD Turbos. The domestic Korean market and North America are Kia's priority, and la and behold both are LHD markets. As with the majority of Europe, which will see Kia focus on the Cee'd and its variants which will utilise the smaller engines.

Unlikely Naza will bring in the TGDI as mentioned earlier due to our petrol grade. What i believe they might bring in is other colours or with GPS Navi. Just my 2cents.

By the way, if GDI is not coming due to petrol grade, then can someone explain to me why the Mazda CX-5 with 2.0 litre SkyActiv G direct injection petrol is fine to use in Malaysia ? Can someone shed some lights ? Direct petrol injection is not same as Gasoline direct injection ?

Hehehee, unless the CX-5 direct injection is not for Malaysia where Malaysia is getting another version.
