Well, i have tested Mondeo, 508, camry2.0, accord2.0, Focus TDCI2.0, teana2.0, passat1.8, mazda6 and lastly k5.

I wouldn't say K5 is the best, but yet it is value for the $$ --> that's why i book one 2days back.

U want torque, go for TDCI. U want comfort go for Camry/Teana. U want power, go for Passat1.8/508. U want stylish, then for now nothing beats K5. And these are of course my own humble opinion that would differs compared to others.

Being Msian, our mentality are just too narrow at the Jap made due to the resell value. Look at the broader picture, i guess end of the day is what u really want. U need to carry whole family, maybe can go for MPV rather D-segment. All cars are made to be liability which depreciate unless u keep something really extraordinary. I'm also one of those conservative man once, and wish to move out from that circle.

And by the way, i'm now 33 a family man and that doesn't stop me from being fancy with K5. My wife whom is 34 now drives a 523, love K5 at the first sight and wanna exchange the car when that K5 arrives! She even say the interior was so classy and premium. icon_rolleyes.gif

Well again, i guess it is really own perception and own liking about the car. Nobody is right or wrong about the design and the feel. tongue.gif

Yeah he thinks that we are gonna jump up and start claiming that the Optima is the most powerful car out there. Such a dumb fool. Telling us birds can fly as if he made the discovery himself.

I myself said many times that the Optima is underpowered during low range acceleration while the power kicks in only at mid range. Hence, why in normal town driving ull feel the weight of the car and your FC wont be that good. We all know that right!

I tested the Optima 8 times under various driving conditions both as driver and as a passenger. This is probably the highest number of test drives anybody has ever had as far as i know. Beats my previous record of 7 test drives in 4 states in 2003 for my Toyota Vios. And yet i get a fool like him coming here and talking as if he made some super discovery which i failed to see during my 8 test drives.  mad.gif

hahaa......i made sure myself read the whole 93pages before i started to post on this place. I guess not much read thru and just jump in with their own findings on K5.

At 110km/h you ll be at bout 2000rpm
Using bout 6-7liters/100km as indicated on the instant fuel economy screen,
which is amazing.
I usually maintain it at bout 3000rpm on highways (bout 155km/h), at bout 9 liters/100km..

Best ever tank mileage roughly 700-750km/ 70 liters petrol (full tank)
*
750km/70L already sound very very good for a 2.0 engine for D-segment. drool.gif

I don't have the car yet, waiting next week....but I would comment that the quality of the glove box and center console not really that up to the mark. The sales guy explanation is crappy....

Anyway, overall the car really impress me....quality of others should be good. I love the seats, dash, meter....performance also better than equivalent 2.0 like Camry, especially the handling was superb.

That SA is obviously lying to you. All Optima K5's have that problem with the glove box. Well not actually a problem but just that u gotta push hard to close it. Thats a real crap as Kia could have easily done a much better job with the closing mechanism since the glove box is gonna get used often. I foresee many future replacements of the closing mechanism.

Besides this issue, i think the car's overall quality is satisfactory. But i guess only time will tell.

Sales guys loves to talk shit.....many of them don't really know much about cars. The donk head that serves me in Klang - when ask what is the torque, he answer RPM4600 and I belasah him. Only 5-6 products in the showroom pun tak boleh paham the details.....how la if selling 10-20 types of products? Haha....smile.gif

well nothing is perfect....give and take lo. The most important is you shiok driving the car.....case close tongue.gif

Yup. Ended up I booked mine in glenmarie with a guy that knows the car in and out. It is just part of day to day effort of selling and customer satisfaction.

Being a bit hard on them actually is helping them to improve. This is what I do to my sales guys too....not harsh but hard on facts and figure.

Are u sure bout the ckd on optima? So far didn't heard that, unless they really doing well like forte else it doesn't make sense to ckd.

I am suprise too, 2k or 2.5k is not a small amount. How come i got nothing when i booked during one U roadshow??
Can someone confirm this??

I am suspecting 2011 model because previously they gave 1k discount. So now is April already, 2k or 2.5k discount make sense??
*
This is most likely due to dealing with the dealers. They can offer better discount comparatively the Kia branch.
But then, getting from dealers can't really guarantee the car is totally 'new'. if you don't mind the possibilities the car has been used by someone for short test drive, then u may go to dealer with a better cash rebate. Most likely cars from dealers will be having some 50-100km done, this inclusive the driving from the distributing location to the dealer location. smile.gif

very sorry to one of the silver K5 owner in Klang whom buys from the dealer in Klang. I tested the car there, and i guess that car has been tested by many others. When I tested, it was already clocking 87km, and that is before any inspection for sure as no plate number yet for the car.

This is the thing that dealer might do as they do not own a test unit, and not the branch SA. Very less dealer wanna purchase 1unit for test drive, or even sell a test drive unit at lower price --> minimize the loss ma....so use those new units. sad.gif

The highest i got in KL was 35K (1 place), while others were only about RM33K. So the trade in price difference is between 3-4K.
*
welcome welcome sama sama K5 member.

same experience here, used car dealer in Muar able to offer RM48k for my 2006 city whereas in KL the best is 46k.

Today I introduce my friend to test drive KIA Optima in Bangsar. He is so impress with the car. He would like to try out camry too. We drove over to PJ Toyota branch and test out Camry. When we talked about Kia Optima, the SA immediately shown us this thread via his ipad saying a lot of problem being discuss. He asked us think twice before consider Optima.
My friend told him probably he should look at camry thread as well and the SA just keep quite. My friend is 80% go for Optima. He told me everything can fix will never be a problem.
*
bang the donk donk Toyota SA, very unpro act of sales. What is the point of showing some bad comments of others? Does that helps to promote your product is better?? mad.gif

hi sifu-sifu skalian that oredi owned or study K5,

just want to check one issue here --> would the warranty affected if we were to change the stock wheel/rim to others which has exactly the same profile? Anyone seek confirmation with Naza on this matter?

If change profile pulak apamacam? I saw the photo of one of the K5 on the TT session oredi changed. Can the taiko owner there drop in some valuable input? Or Irangan and K5White mind to update?

tima kasih manyak manyak!

this is a very grey area, very subjective...even if u ask SA, they can say yes for now...but later few years, anything can happen..
and im talking abt any brands as well
when anything happen especially parts that are directly affected by the rims, ie the suspension system, wheel bearing, there will try to void the warranty when u bring in ur car...

this is wat i tot, maybe other bros know more abt it?
*
well, yup this is exactly what i thought.

being buntut gatai, i am considering to change rim but then such subjective arguments just block me from doing so.

I saw one of the taiko changed rim on the TT session photo, drool.gif that sparks up my thought to be buntut gatai again......which taiko again that changed rim?

Bro, u mean even at night, mood light at the door compartment is too dim? How about completely dark (or maybe almost)?

Added on April 16, 2012, 5:12 pmBtw, anyone added additional alarm system or security lock? Any recommendation? Steering lock la, brake pedal lock la, la la la?
*
yaya.....alarm system, front sensor, blablabla which has to do with electrical wiring/looping......SA in Glenmarie says can la and do it in their Glenmarie SC. Anyone fixed these before? hmm.gif
