Wah, seems that you really enjoying your car. I remember seeing from the Kia International website there's a dedicated slot to place your keyless smart key, no meh? Btw, already test top speed ah?  thumbup.gif

Yes it is. The key fob can be inserted into your passenger chilling box compartment. Open the compartment and insert the key fob there. It is mainly for emergency purpose if your key fob ran out of battery.

Hi cybermaster, just curious to know when the moment you hard accelerate with full force step on, what is your RPM at that time ? For how long you step on and what is the RPM at that time while u maintaining the step on ? Are you testing on a straight road or climbing up the hill.

I don't really test the car into that extent or to the max because I know I won't be driving till that rough, unless going up to Genting, that maybe.

Anyway, is good to know if putting K5 into such stress test, it will sustain or not. Hopefullly none here that is going to buy K5 will be offered by the SA of this car you have tested smile.gif

I did the hard acceleration, floored the accelerator from static position till speed was around 120 kmph on a straight even road. I didn't notice the first few gear changes RPM, but what I notice is during mid gear, the RPM goes as high as 6.1k ~ 6.2k only it change to other gear, just right before the RED area of the RPM. This proves the specification was correct, max power at 6.2k  drool.gif  That's when I also noticed what cybermaster mentioned the car burning smell when back at the showroom.

Will try if I have a chance to rev up to 6.2k. Will update you guys if there is any burning smell.

Added on March 19, 2012, 11:58 pmbtw, does anyone knows if this car is equipped with TPMS ? Tyre Pressure Measuring System ?

I saw in the manual, it will show you the sign if the tyre pressure are low. Not sure if this is an optional item. anyone ?

I am eager to get TPMS smile.gif. This is what I found that needed for the TPMS light to be active. the component are the one circle in red. Don't know how much it would cost. Although aftermarket will be much cheaper

Guys,

The other thing i noticed was the water vapor in both front headlights. This shows the seals arent good and if this problem appears on cars this new then it aint good. I was told that this is a common problem with the Forte's and there is some mention about it in the manual. Can anybody confirm?

*
Hi CM98,

That is true and is officially announced in KIA Technical Service Bulletin that it happens in most KIA models. Here is the attachment

notice rear we custom made into 2 piece so it looks neater
this is what we meant by custom made, custom made oversize to fit it better than the oem carpet tongue.gif

thumbup.gif last but not only Sh@rty 5 custom made coil mat provides service of using Velcro, as in the picture, so that the coil mat would not move around

biggrin.gif spy shot of owner checking out his new car..

Unlikely Naza will bring in the TGDI as mentioned earlier due to our petrol grade. What i believe they might bring in is other colours or with GPS Navi. Just my 2cents.

By the way, if GDI is not coming due to petrol grade, then can someone explain to me why the Mazda CX-5 with 2.0 litre SkyActiv G direct injection petrol is fine to use in Malaysia ? Can someone shed some lights ? Direct petrol injection is not same as Gasoline direct injection ?

Hehehee, unless the CX-5 direct injection is not for Malaysia where Malaysia is getting another version.

Hi All,

Need to check with you guys whether you experience this in your K5:-

When the vehicle in motion and coming into a stop position like parking, when your call is stalled or complete standstill and your gear engage in P and you let go your brake, the car is like jerk forward a bit, the feeling is like in the lift sometimes it reaches the floor and it move a bit up before stopping at the position. Can't really explain the feeling, and i hope you guys understand what I am trying to express.

It also happens while you are pressing the brake pedal when stopping, and then engage your leg brake, the moment you let go the brake pedal, sometimes this effect may occur.

Anyone experience this in your K5 ? I am sending my car for the 1st service tomorrow, will check with the technician.

Leg break controls the brakes with cable and your brake pedal control with hydraulic pressure. There will be a difference in the brake force applied between the brake pedal and leg break and in that transition from brake pedal to leg brake cable, you get the 'earth move under your car' feeling. This happens to most large cars as there is more weight settling in during the transition. Should not be anything to be worried about.

so sleepwalker, you have the same experience as me then, ok, at least i know this is a normal issue instead of some problem. Then will not bring up to the technician tomorrow. Thanks dude

No offence, but if and when you decide to get the K5, will you end up buying from this young salesman with so much enthusiasm? Or will you buy from whichever SA can get you the best trade-in deal for your car?

I guess when it really starts to matter, SAs will ultimately buck up or butt out...in the meantime though... smile.gif

The irony about technical info on products is this: Buyers who are keen enough and who are tech savvy (which means anyone who has an internet connection and knows how to access google) will already know from the net whatever he wants to find out. So, going to a showroom to test the technical knowledge of the SAs is a waste of time, really. Also, what's the point in knowing a car's max torque figure? That's only telling a partial story. To know how powerful and driveable a car really is you need to see its torque and power curves on a graph.

In most instances, information such as the above are useless to the general car buyer.

If however, the SA doesn't know stuff like how many airbags, FC, boot capacity, how to operate the car's controls etc, yes, you can fucuk him/her. But torque figure? That's asking a bit too much.

I bet most here don't even know how to interpret torque curves into a useful assumption. So why bother to ask?

Hence proving my point smile.gif

Thanks zapirwin...

no offence to anyone, i'm kinda buy what gregy said smile.gif. I am those described above. In terms of technical and information, i have you guys here to give all facts and figures. SA is nothing but only important about how good service they provide, what discount they can afford to offer and how fast they can deliver the car to you.

But if you talk about service center technician, then this is not acceptable smile.gif. That fella needs to be sound on technical

I buy from the Kepong SA, he had explain the most basic requiretment of the car to me and honestly told me he not well known bout this K5 since is still new , so i can understand tat.

I also go & search internet and get knowledge 4myself since i'm getting the car for myself , cant just trust SA said , and sometimes SA will have mistake and do fault since i m also a sales line person .

Even he is not giving me best offer when i find out from other dealer after loan approved . He allow me transfer my loan to other KIA dealer , but i not too.. (he also cari makan only) kepong dealer is the most nearest to me , and he is easy going person, nice . so i choosed to took from him , and he also did delivered the car on the date i want.

so i m always think ''give & take''.
easy life , easy happy . ''enjoy the ride''

This is most likely due to dealing with the dealers. They can offer better discount comparatively the Kia branch.
But then, getting from dealers can't really guarantee the car is totally 'new'. if you don't mind the possibilities the car has been used by someone for short test drive, then u may go to dealer with a better cash rebate. Most likely cars from dealers will be having some 50-100km done, this inclusive the driving from the distributing location to the dealer location. smile.gif

Added on April 13, 2012, 10:03 am

I booked mine in Kia branch in Glenmarie, no waiting but limited stock level on the silver and PG. White loooooooooong waiting list.
*
Ken was right, dealer gave better discount due to the car is not 100% new. For my case, it is not a test drive unit, but because it was drive from the port to seremban, hence the mileage when I got is about 100km. I am sure it is not a test drive unit because the car dealer only have one test drive unit which is white. for other stocks, they kept in different floor. Normally only display unit is at ground floor.

But i inspected the car first before placing a booking confirming it has no major damages. So i am quite happy with it.

Kepong K5 TT ??  drool.gif  come on.. Come on..  thumbup.gif

I got my tinted free from my SA, ...... so no headache on that.

And call up another SA selling K5 logo 1set (front and back) Rm200

Or Eagle logo 1set (F and B) Rm200

Any 1 share? Share means we buy both .. Then is either u take front eagle logo back K5 logo
Then I take front K5 logo back eagle logo, Or terbalik..  Good idea?  icon_rolleyes.gif

Rims 4 set logo = Rm120 (eagle or k5 can't remember)
*
DJSoo, Irangan, can't TT at kepong as I will be away from Malaysia for a month. Only back in mid June. Nevertheless, i will still monitor this thread as it goes.

As for the logo, I saw from ebay, the Eagle logo, (front+rear+steering+4 wheelcap = RM 235 after conversion). Anyway, no intention to change anything as yet. Try to keep as stock as possible.
