Guys, this is the first time I post in this thread but already read through 30 pages+ of this thread. After reading through all that, I went to Kia Red Cube today to see K5 and place an order. BUT too bad, the sales girls said that she cant get any freebie for me. That's means no rebate also.

So any sifu have any good SA to intro, those can give me good deal smile.gif? I need to test drive but 95% confirm to purchase already. Oh ya, the Red Cube agent said that I can get the car by end of this mth.

Pls assist me~!

Thanks in advance

I really heard and confirm the SA at ampang can offer rm1000 and is 2012 stock . that s why i get extra rm 500 discount from my SA with free tinted .

QUOTE(sleepy @ Mar 18 2012, 03:53 PM)
Yup, and they have immediate stocks too. The Ampang branch SA is well-informed of the product they're selling as well. Worth to drop them a visit. As for me, I'm just going there to have a look at the car since it's the talk of the town recently. Already got myself a 508 since Nov 2011.

Where is it wor? Any contact?

thanks

Did the test drive today in another showroom. Very nice experience. The owner of the showroom accompany me for the ride and made me a very good deal compare to those Red Cube that gave 1001 excuse when come to freebie. Very satisfied and place order straight after that.

Other than the slightly louder engine sound during rev (driving Altis now), the rest all good and within my expectation. Didnt realize the heat and smell as it is raining today. But I presumed that it is a minor issue as the current batch is still CBU unit from Korea. Should be better QC and it is coming from the same factory that make for US market. If the burning smell is major issue, I bet those guai low will blow whistle long time ago gua.

Just a side info. After placing my order and during casual chatting session, the owner told me that it is good to buy current batch as it is still CBU from Korea. I asked him to explain further. He told me that the current batch came in using special issued AP. CBU that only need to pay CKD rate tax. The current is brought in under assumption that it is for showroom unit only. So limited unit. Future batch must be assemble in Malaysia to create more jobs.

Oh ya. I am getting platinum graphite color and they got ready stock for it. If everything smoothly, can get the car in less than 3 weeks smile.gif

Which showroomm did you test? Any contact? Btw, i thought our CBU units are coming from Korea now while US has a separate manufacturing plant?

But i think that the explanation on the CBU units being under the assumption is for showroom use only doesnt make sense. How many showrooms are there in Malaysia anyway? Now, most showrooms have ready stock for the platinum graphite (as its not a popular color) and other colors are on display. The silver is in high demand. Im sure its common knowledge that the CBU cars brought in are being sold. The CKD versions of the Optima will only start earliest after June. They just started the Sportage CKD in Feb this year.
*
I will pm you the details later. Another plus point for the agent. I confirmed the order yesterday and I brought along full doc to him. Today 10.00am, Maybank call me for verification and the loan going to approve in 2 days time. Thats what I called service.

Dont wish to specific too clearly. Obviously, they manipulated and abused the rules. They took in more than required and re-sold it lo.

Congratulation  rclxms.gif .. Can't wait to see K5 ard the road.
*
Yeah~! I cant wait for it~!

QUOTE(K5WHITE @ Mar 20 2012, 11:06 AM)
Actually, it is possible. A company can request for tax exemption or special rebate for imports for purposes that can be manipulated. For this instance, the SA say for showroom units, but in actual, it could be for Naza R&D/CKD project or many others which im sure the tax lawyer at Naza can find loopholes. I been in such situation in my previous company, but not in importing cars. In machinery that in tax alone cost 5 figures at least. How true this K5 case, i cannot comment further, just sharing my point, that it is possible.
*
Exactly! Hehe

QUOTE(JuneSeptember @ Mar 20 2012, 12:45 PM)
Don't get platinum graphite la. I wanna be unique. White colour chun. Btw, does K5 have audio mute button? Anybody changed rims already?
*
Haha. Too bad. I love the colour too.

I AM IN if there is a bulk purchase. Loving it ~!

OH YA~! Guys, do you think that it is a good idea to send my car to KL Auto for Auto Foam and Sound Proofing? Will void warranty?

Guys, This lights cost about USD120 in Ebay, please check this site,

I'm waiting their reply about the shipment costing if I just want to order 1 piece of this. Please share if someone know an accessories shop can install this to us.
Sorry to say that, the emblem is not ugly, the problem is your mindset. We are car lovers but not brand slave. If proton can produce a quality car, i don't mind to give them a chance!

My previous car is Toyota Camry, but it has been stolen end of 2011. No doubt, for some peoples camry is a best choice in D-Segment Car but the car is not as good as i thought! Not equal to what i have paid for. Anything wrong with us who drive a KIA? a Korean make? just because of the branding?
*
Let's me know if there is a bulk purchase for this smile.gif

I ditched my Altis and cancelled my booking for new camry just to jump to this beauty. Pray for the best smile.gif

Hahaha.. biggrin.gif Was about 3.5 years...

I was consider a month for taking a KIA! I tested Passat, saw 508 for 3 times, Mondeo for 2 times, 2010 Mark X and 2009 IS 250 2 times... I'm planning to owe a conti car before i go to KIA Showroom but the end, I bought a Optima K5, this beast just impressed me after tested 2 times! I can share with you guys why I turned to KIA if we have opportunity to meet up, how about a K5 gathering ?  rclxms.gif
Yes bro! pray for the best! What the peoples say around you while you cancelled your new camry booking? hahaha...we just buy what we love and value for our money!
*
K5 gathering ar. Good idea. I want to see what else can I do with my car. Sierra Glow, Sound proofing, VS, Grounding works and anti roll bars are some of things that I going to throw in when I got my car.

Everyone inclusive my wife asked me to reconsider when I said that I going to cancel Camry for Kia. But I believed that it is all due to mind set issues. No deny that previous generation of korean car have alot of catch up. But after testing this K5, I am sure that this car is the beginning of 'golden era' for korean car. Not to mention, one of the best performance vs price ratio. Cheaper 30k compare to 2.4 camry. Dumping it into another house, better deal at least for me smile.gif

My agent and Maybank damm efficient~! I placed the order with complete documentation on 19/3/2012 4pm. Maybank called me for verification on 20/3 10am. And the agent just called me and said that the loan is approved and can sign by tomorrow. The car will be deliver to me by next Wed; the latest. Speechless. Much much efficient than my previous experience with Toyota agent.

If u want tahan kotor, then the Silver is the way to go. Dark colors show dirt easily the same with white. If the grey is dirty its very noticeable and the car looks very dull and boring. I saw a dirty PG and thats when i decided against it. Plus any scratches will show very easily on the dark color.

Trust me, i had 2 cars before....1 dark grey and 1 silver. So i know the advantages of the silver.
*
I am driving a black altis now and while my colleague driving a silver one. IMO, darker colour is a safer bet. But anyway, doesnt matter. Getting Sierra Glow treatment. So minor dirty will drop off smile.gif

QUOTE(texass @ Mar 22 2012, 09:09 AM)
Hi,

I m looking my first D-segment car which is below 150K. Does anyone here are lucky to have tried the 2.0 camry, accord and the k5. I m looking for a car that is enjoyable to drive and put others issues behind. Hope you can share your experience here.

Thanks.
*
IMO,

Camry; unless you have the budget to go 2.4 else you will be stuck with 4 speed gearbox and slightly old but reliable engine. Comfort level is the best among 3 cars.

Accord; didnt test drive but received a not too good feedback from colleagues that driving that. Probably due to CKD?

K5; obviously this is my choice as I just bought it smile.gif But anyway, I would say that it is not a perfect car too (slightly noisy engine sound during rev) but it is best performance vs price ratio. Plus 5 years unlimited warranty, I dare to take the plunge.

End of the day, see what is your priority and budget? If you really have the budget, do consider Camry 2.4 (180k?) or Teana 2.5. A safe choice.

What mods you got in hand la bro? Besides the emblem
*
Tinting, emblems, door guard kit, full set of stabilizing bars, sierra glow, VS, grounding, sound proofing and new set of tyre.

This is some of things that will install for now. Will mod the car lighting if wont void the warranty.
I have to disagree with you man, took my car out yesterday and it was soo dirty under the sun. Every bit of dirt was obvious and visible compared to the silver car beside it. No choice loh, have to wash it frequently. (haven't wash my car for two week now)

Engine and gearbox wise, i do not have much complaints. Except that the engine does not have enough torque, 15-20 more will be perfect so i don't need to drop gear so often when going up hill (i seriously love the paddle shifters in this sort of situation). Gearbox is nice, silky smooth for my standards, don't use Top Gear standards la. Now i wonder how would it feel to drive a 2.0 Camry, since the engine has less power than K5.

So in my opinion, if you like the car, and the performance does not annoy you too much and it is reasonably frugal, can just buy it. No need to be too concerned whether the engine tech is the latest or not. I think that's the reason why so many people buy Toyota, because they like it (particularly the brand).

Just saw a brand new white K5 in Damanasara Perdana this morning, WWK XXXX, what a beauty. Also recall that I saw a silver K5 in Sri Damansara, WMM XXXX. Walao. blink.gif

I'll make some killer PG K5 pics this week, stay tuned.
*
Our definition of dirty is different then. To me, I can bear with those dust but a big no no on those dark line on car paint when water come down from drainage; something like bleeding. Usually seen on lighter color paint car.

But all drop to personal opinion.

For the water discharge, i dont think there is any reason to be worried. Most important is to confirm that the water comes from air humidity condensation, not coolant fluid, nor washer nor any working fluid in the car. All working a/c will have condensation, thats why they have drain pipe.

As for the seat rattling sound, which some owners face here, try to check the passenger seat lock. i think the sound might come from the seat lock hitting the center console.
*
For rattling sound, did you check it out by Kia SC? Loose screw?

I need to check it when I collect my car later this week. Sound coming out when u drive fast or whenever u on a bumpy road?

thanks

i havent clean my K5 White for close to a week, and it has been raining on and off in klang valley here these few days, so my car has dirt marks on them..which kinda obvious.

took out hose, and a clean cloth...water down the rear bonnet...basically, i just need to drag one end of the clothes ard, and 80% of the dirt marks are gone...it is really easily wipe off, and i didnt use a drip of shampoo or watever...the car surface seems really silky and the dirt cant really get planted into the paint...those remaining stubborn dirt can removed with a finger wipe..but pls understand, my car has no other oily dirt than a few oily finger prints of a foremen who took out my sister's car punctured when i help her to change it..

Nice~! I also make an appointment with Mr Choong today. Sending over the car by next week smile.gif

Did I got a good price? hmm.gif

He says is cheaper than we normally do outside.
My No. I register today is WWN9***.

Will be doing my SG when I come back from penang.
*
I got my tinting from Raytech since their HQ located just opposite the Kia Showroom. Got myself with their most high end products according to the salesgirl (max heat coverage plus security films; 6mil) for everywhere inclusive roof. Tried it with some spotlight to test the heat protection before paying RM2800 too and the SA covered the balance. If i not mistaken, the whole package costs me RM3400 - 3500.

My number also start with WWN. Same color with yours too. Seems that it is easy to recognize your car if bump on the road. Haha.

Yes, your statement might be correct if you referring to previous gen of Korean cars. No deny that they do copy aggressively design from other car manufacturer (Jaguar, Honda and etc) when they just started. Just like when Jap car manufacturer started thirty forty years ago. But over the years, they (Korean) grew leap and bound especially after Mr Peter joined their design team. The current model still bear some DNA from other car manufacturer but I dare to say that they do have their own identity now. Not particular unique but sufficient to compete in global market.

Always glad to see healthy competition as its always lead to better design and value for consumer.

QUOTE(cybermaster98 @ Mar 28 2012, 05:50 PM)
Yes but i guess ure paying for the brand and also the technology. But the K5 beats the Audi with its exterior design. The K5 is a head turner while the Audi will be just another common site on the road with not much to differentiate between the various models except for the DRL's.

The A4 will cost approx RM 2300 per month for 9 yrs while the Optima will cost RM 1500 for 7 yrs. Audi comes with 2 years unlimited mileage warranty and 15,000km (every 9 months with my driving distance) servicing intervals.
*
Agreed~! Dont see too many K5 on the road. I felt unique! Hehe.

Anyway, I just saw a singapore C5 on the road. On the first glance, I thought it was a K5. Anyone having the same feeling?

Everybody putting in new engines while Toyota still gonna use old engine and old 4 speed auto transmission for the new Camry 2.0L and still charge us RM150K. Only 2.5L will get new dual VVTI engine and new 6 speed transmission.
*
QUOTE(K5WHITE @ Mar 29 2012, 09:54 AM)
it is just plain business move, i think...u see, toyota has developed the engines decade ago, and has spent millions in R&D and mould, die & jigs fabrication for the old camry manufacturing....if the sales or the requirement is still manageable, then why not continue to use it again...in this case, m'sia or any other country with die hard fans, it is actually a smart business move...selling at premium price, with new facelift or body over same engine and transmission..the profit margin will skyrocket..

if in other country, where competition is stronger, im sure toyota will fit in more advance engine, transmission and features or else they will lose out...i dont see toyota sales dropping significantly, even with new camry with old tech out....unless other brands in m'sia has strong presence to fight with them..

i mean, if u r toyota m'sia decision making person, decide this..... coming out with new camry new tech low profit margin abt same sales volume, versus new camry, old tech but HIGH profit margin and add some marketing to spice up sales even more

in the end, u get promoted for skewing m'sia consumer !!
*
A good decision in term business perspective but with minimum help from uncle google, it is good enough to bring me; an ex Toyota hardcore fan to Korean camp.

Hope that with the launch of the new Elantra, the reputation of Korean car will increase smile.gif
