Or maybe squeezing even more low picture quality DTT channels/ HD upgrade for some channels (again low bitrate) in the already full multiplex?
*
Well its expected..
To save cost..
I don't know if u realized... I feels even astro HD channels bitrate have been reduced... So MYTV HD = Astro HD 🙅😴

Probably they can manage the broadcast quality as good as their IPTV offering one.

Huh......guess that sudden public announcement gamble by MYTV to force TM and MCMC hands seem to work........
Sometimes I really don't understand.
Who is the actual DTV infrastructure provider? TM or MYTV?  whistling.gif

MYTV doesn't have own DTV transmitter, tower, fiber or satellite uplink......all these are provided by TM.
MYTV doesn't exactly procure or make its own dvb-t2 decoder either........GP and one random China provider.

What exactly does MYTV do? Songlap?
To begin with, the DTV infrastructure tender was quite.....questionable..... innocent.gif

MYTV was supposed to fund network as a concession. Revenue only starts when national network up and analog can be turned off. Revenue from RTM and MediaPrima.
MYTV was supposed to provide transmitter and sometimes the tower.
TM own most of the useful sites and sometimes provide tower, charge MYTV rental. TM always provide backbone transmission.
MCMC did not want TM to get the MYTV tender as the GLC would then own all the debt.
The tender demanded two multiplexes with option of a third.

Oh? So that is the reason Bukit Lambir transmitter for my area only has two multiplexers installed? laugh.gif

Filling the second multiplex and the optional third one would have been by pay tv channels.
I though MYTV only using on multiplex?

Don't want that Astro to take over MYTV and make it NJOI. Astro and their bullshit rubbish.

Maybe TM can take over and offer it for free digital terrestrial TV over the air coming through from the UHF aerial.

TM can offer 2 services with MYTV. One they can offer the normal basic free channels with MYTV.
The other the basic free channels with additional paid premium channels.

Bingo... I want the premium one for 4k resolution. But it's only one time pay like NJOI. If monthly one like Astro, I don't want.

If they are going for Pay TV route, it is preferable that they run on HDTV/HEVC format for pay channels. (Free channels must and will stay on H.264) UHD/4K resolution is possible but however there will bitrate constraints (2-4 channels even with HEVC with current multiplex configuration)

They were supposed to survive by charging RTM and Media Prima to carry the channels, like TM charge them right now for the analog TV.
HD versions of existing channels were all supposed to be free to the us

Let just say....MYTV dug its own hole by delaying the analog shutoff several times.......

How to charge content providers money if analog shutoff keeps on delayed? whistling.gif

Since the new gov, TM share price decrease more than 50%. This create short term lost. So, TM have no capital money for rolling. So, dont think that TM will take over MYTV. Unless the HyppTV was separated from TM, but still need mega money capital to roll the business as it was a free TV and not paid TV.

As for ASTRO, they have satellite tech. Make no sense if they take over MYTV and still pay TM for leasing. Unless the new gov make a uturn, instead of using DTT, they use satellite tech.

The only player I see is TNB can take over MYTV, as they have the capital and already laid fiber infra but they will think twice before take over as this it is a regulated free service and TNB will get less revenue from Media Prima and RTM

So... Shall we have public fundraising such like Tabung Harapan for government to build new DTV transmission towers, network etc etc? we can easily get up to millions. Government can rent out new facilities for income while We enjoy UHD movies 😁😁

The MCMC can take over the MYTV transmitters if they go under - should be in the contract. TM can then be appointed to operate them with the capital cost dumped on MYTV shareholders and the banks.

My bet is TM most likely would take over the MYTV operations... As national interest basis.. Government can ask them to run the operations...

As for lack of funding.. Well there bank to consider.. Not forgetting bond market too..
